A Filipina student brings pride to all Filipinos as she graduated with the highest distinction in the largest public university in Thailand.
At Ramkhanmhaeng University (RU) Institute of International Studies in Bangkok, Thailand, a Filipino student named Nicole Louise Nicolas Poblete graduated Summa cum laude with a degree in Mass Communication major in Radio and TV Broadcasting.
Poblete originally came from Laoag City, Philippines with her parents. But because they have decided to become missionaries in Thailand, they left the Philippines.
Both parents are serving in church, her Father Aldrin is a senior pastor at Every Nation Church in Bangkok and her mother, aside from serving in church, also works as a teacher.
To adjust to her new way of life in Thailand was not easy, as she recalls she needed to strive so hard to adopt to the Thai culture and language.
“Nahirapan talaga akong mag-adjust sa culture at language noong una. My friends and the people I’ve met, sila talaga (ang)tumulong sa akin.”
In an interview with ABS-CBN, she said that she felt so thankful and blessed for having the opportunity to have an education.
“Not everyone has the privilege to get education. If you are fortunate enough, make the most out of it and be thankful.”
During Poblete’s elementary and high school days in Laoag City, she was a consistent honor student and even in Thailand she never failed to make her parents proud of her.
To inspire everyone, she shared her advice on how to achieve your goals in life.
“My advice when it comes to success is to not wait for life to be easy kasi kung ‘yun ang hinihintay n’yo, wala tayong mapapala.”
Poblete shared with PinoyThaiyo a quote that she offered her success to God and to use it to help others.
“The role of education is not simply to make us smart. God has gifted us with talents and abilities to be used, ultimately, for His plan; that is where education comes in, to hone our God-given skills to serve a purpose greater than ourselves.”

On March 6, after announcing to the public that he was having a contest to win her daughter’s heart, a Thai durian trader was already canceling the contest after receiving so many responses.
In Chumphon, Thailand, Anont Rotthong, who runs two durian market stalls, announced that whoever wins her 26-year-old daughter’s heart would have been given 10 million baht (US$314,000) in cash, cars, a house, and a durian plantation.
The father set the qualification to join the competition – that the man should possess the skills needed to take over his durian business.
“Anyone who knows how to buy and select durian, and sources the fruit from orchards can take my daughter’s hand.
“I won’t ask for a single baht in dowry from him, but will instead give him 10 million baht in cash, 10 vehicles, a house, two durian market stalls, and a daughter who graduated with honors from Assumption University and has a master’s degree from Sun Yat-sen University in China,” he said on a Facebook post last weekend.
And for him to know the aspiring son-in-law, they should participate in a three-month-long tournament that will be held in one of his durian farms.
Exceeding his expectations, there were 10,000 people who responded, through Facebook, to his call but he didn’t want to accommodate such big crowd.
“Interested sons-in-law, please stop calling me. I’m dying because my phone has been ringing off the hook. Let me rest,” he wrote.
Among those who have responded, a comment from 28-year-old Premyosapon Khongsai gained 14,000 likes in just a few days.
“I’m interested. I am 28 years old. My family also grows durian in Trat province. We have over 300 trees … I can weather the sun and rain. I can drive a 10-wheeerl truck and tractor. Please consider me, father Anont. Thank you,” wrote Khongsai in the comment, accompanied by a picture of him.
Yet for Anont, the man would only break the heart of her daughter, Kanjasita Rotthong, because he was too handsome, as he wrote on his pitch. They held a TV interview where he said the contest was amusing at first but after it went viral, it wasn’t funny anymore.
And finally, her daughter speaks up that she respected her father’s method of helping her find a husband but then, whatever may happen to the competition, her final decision is what matters most.
His father decided to put an end to what he has started. He told the reporters that he was calling off the tournament because it has already affected his family and business. But then, whoever her daughter would choose to marry, he still has the intention to give the 10 million baht.
Using money and possessions in finding true love doesn’t give you true happiness, but using your heart and mind will truly lead you to forever.
We all have our favorit flavor. It may be classics like chocolate, vanilla, and caramel; or fruity like mango, apple, and strawberry. But new kinds of addictive flavors have been going around recently.
One of which is salted egg. It all started when the salted egg chips became popular.
But an unfortunate discovery was made in a bag of the famous Irvin’s Salted Egg snack in Thailand.
Jane Halloway was horrified when a fried lizard was allegedly found in a bag of salted egg skin fish her brother and mother were eating on Friday, December 28.
According to her post, they were halfway though the contents of the pack when they noticed that not all pieces were equal. But they were shocked as they pulled out a figure of what appeared to be a crispy house gecko.
The post has reached more than 7,200 shares on Facebook.

I have since personally contacted the customer and will continue to do so to make sure that she and her family is alright.”

People have been buzzing around the happenings before the Miss Universe 2018 coronation night that happened in Bangkok, Thailand. There has been controversies, blunders, wardrobe malfunctions, and viral videos.
Among these is the video of Miss Peru Romina Lozano, who got mistaken for being the now-Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. The beauty queen didn’t take it to heart though. The two have been previously compared as they have similar facial features.
When she was greeting people and taking photos with them, a man asking for a picture called her “Catriona” and she just laughed it off and proceeded to pose with him.
Miss Universe coronation night was held on December 17 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Miss Universe Albania Trejsi Sedjini was one of the trending candidates of the 67th Miss Universe.
When she was on her way back to Albania on Wednesday, December 19, she really wanted to take home the gifts that her Thai fans gave her. But there was one problem: she didn’t have enough money to pay the baggage fee.
Her Thai supporters found out about her situation while she was at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand. They decided to help her and contribute their own money to pay the THB 5,225 excess baggage fee.
Korakot Mussamont Chansiri, who was one of Sedjini’s supporters at the airport, shared the story of the Albanian beauty queen.
She said that while Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray was boarding a private plane, Miss Albania was opening her suitcase to see what she can leave behind.
The beauty queen thanked her Thai fans via a post on Instagram. “Thank you my Thai fan for making me happy. Thank you for the support, the gifts and the love that you share everyday for me. You all are so real and lovely,” she wrote as a caption.

It seems like the whole world had their eyes on the newly crowned Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray.
But as majority are celebrating, the news of one candidate’s unfortunate story have not been talked about often.
Miss Sierra Leone, Marie Esther Bangura, was unable to join the pageant. It was not because of anything scandalous, but because she arrived late in Bangkok, Thailand.
She has failed to meet the schedule set by the organizers, which was December 2. But it was already December 8 when Bangura arrived.
Despite arriving a few days after the other candidates, she was still allowed to attend several activities in line with the pageant. She also received the warm welcome of the Thais.

So why didn’t she arrive on time? She faced some problems with her visa and it took her two weeks to travel from her country to Nigeria where she applied for a visa to the Royal Thai Embassy.
Adding to this, the also had to travel to Thailand by sea!
But the beauty queen maintained her positive mindset as she expressed that she still had a wonderful time even if she was not allowed to join the pageant proper.
“I always wanted to represent my country and that’s why I tried so hard to be here. Since I’m not competing, I still feel good because I got to meet people and learn new things.”
So what’s her silver lining? She’s allowed to join the competition in the following year.

In most companies, employees are entitled to compassionate leave when a family member has died. However, a company in Thailand has been creating buzz due to it’s non-allocation of such benefit.
Not only that, the boss also questioned the employee who just wanted to attend his mother’s funeral.
On November 28, a Thai citizen tweeted his disappointment after his boss blurted out words that shocked him.
According to the Netizen, his boss said, “Will your mother wake up if you attend her funeral? If you don’t go, they will still proceed with the cremation, right? So, you’re not allowed to take a leave!”

This made the employee angry and he proceeded to file a resignation letter as opposed to a request for a leave.
The series of tweets went viral in Thailand and even prompted others to share their own unbelievable stories with their bosses. One said that he was in the hospital for a surgery but his manager still demanded for him to do a Powerpoint presentation.
“I was in the hospital for one whole week and I didn’t receive any phone call or well wishes from my boss.”
Miss Philippines Catriona Gray broke the tradition of the Filipiniana outfit during the pre-pageant show for the 2018 Miss Universe in Bangkok, Thailand.
Along with other 92 candidates from across the globe, Gray sported a colorful costume that is dubbed LUZVIMINDA: Magdiwang. Lumaban. Pagyamanin. It became one of the most applauded during the show.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, she said that she intended to really “represent the Philippines in all forms”.
Gray added, “When people see the Philippine sash, it’s just a word on a sash, but really, we’re made up of so many different places and so much different aspects to our culture.”
The festive and colorful attire was a collaboration between lantern-maker Eric Quiwa, fashion designer Jearson Dimavivas, architect and artist Carlos Buendia Jr., and well-known shoemaker Jojo Bragais.
Buendia explained that Luzon is represented by the Christmas lantern from Pampanga with a brass border designed and made in Apalit. Painted at the back of the lantern are historical scenes with inscriptions of Lupang Hinirang written in Baybayin.
Additional details were written in Gray Instagram account, “The island group of VISAYAS is represented by a body suit with authentic “tattoo designs” embellished with crystals derived from patterns used by the “PINTADOS” who are indigenous peoples found in various islands in this part of the Philippines. The tattoo patterns are authentic and based from the manusript “BOXER CODEX” written in 1590.
“The island group of MINDANAO is represented by an authentic ‘HEADPIECE & BRASS ACCESSORIES’ from the province of South Cotabato and customized KNEE-HIGH BOOTS with embroidered designs inspired by different indigenous textile patterns from the southern part of the Philippines”
It also highlighted victories, festivals, heroes, and national icons.

Actor and television host Luis Manzano recently posted a chart showing penis sizes of men around the world, Thailand being the smallest and Sudan the longest.
He poked fun and captioned it off with a joke saying that he’ll temporarily leave showbiz because his relatives in Sudan miss him.
“Pansamantala ko muna iiwan ang showbiz dahil namimiss na ako ng pamilya ko sa Sudan… oo, dinala lang ako dito sa Pilipinas mula sa Sudan, Africa.”
Richard Gomez then commented that he, too, is from Sudan and they should visit sometime so that their relatives won’t forget them.
“Matagal na tayong pinapabalik ng mga kamag anak natin sa Sudan. Bumisita naman daw tayo para hindi ma forget ng relatives.”
Speaking of penis lengths, according to a review of study data by researchers at the King’s College London, the average flaccid penis measures 3.6 inches from base to tip. When erect, the average is about 5.3 inches in length.
And in a report by TargetMap, Africa beat every continent when it comes to junk size and Asia has in the bottom of the list.
Some just love to make fun of other people’s appearance. They often result to mocking those who looks different or doesn’t fit in the society’s beauty standards.
This is what happened to a 55 year-old Thai national. She is named Sitang Buathong and got made fun of online because she doesn’t look like others, but little did netizens know, that she has helped a lot of people in the Philippines.
A netizen named Lindy Remocaldo posted screenshots of comments saying how Sitang has helped victims of Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

Kfs Padua shared that the woman actually got sad after finding out that she’s being bashed and insulted online.
Opo napaka bait nya at matulungin.
An Overseas Filipino Worker from Thailand shared how Sitang is so respected in Thailand and no one disrespects her there.

She is said to visit the Philippines very soon and help the victims of Typhoon Ompong.
