Netizens slam Grab Philippines for offensively using women for their new promo

Netizens slam Grab Philippines for offensively using women for their new promo

  • Grab Philippines draws flak for using Gerald Anderson issue for its new promo
  • Grab slammed for ‘normalizing’ cheating

After receiving flak, ride-hailing firm Grab Philippines took down its post that featured Kapamilya stars Julia Barretto, Maja Salvador, Pia Wurtzbach, Kim Chiu, Sarah Geronimo, and Bea Alonzo with the caption: “Walang kailangang maiwan. Walang kailangang masaktan. Sa GrabCar 6-seater, pwedeng magsabay-sabay.”

The six actresses have all been linked one time or another to Gerald Anderson who is currently the subject of cheating rumors.

The post immediately gained thousands of reactions, mostly negative for being insensitive and offensive.

The transport network company immediately posted an apology.

“We apologize for running the light! We were in no way encouraging nor condoning disrespect for women and disrespect within relationships. We admire the love and loyalty that fans have for all these wonderful women. Thank you for reminding us what not to be,” the firm said.

Last Sunday, Alonzo, Anderson’s girlfriend of almost three years, made cryptic posts on Instagram, alluding to betrayal. While she didn’t say who she was posting about, eagle-eyed fans noticed Bea had liked the Instagram post about Gerald spending time with another celebrity, Julia Barretto. Previous women linked to Anderson were also brought up again.

Katarina Rodriguez hits back on a rude netizen by saying she does not post everything on social media

Katarina Rodriguez hits back on a rude netizen by saying she does not post everything on social media

  • Her main advocacy is focusing on world peace – achieving world peace by starting with young children  by providing them proper education on nonviolent communication
  • Katarina emphasized that she doesn’t have to share her work on social media
  • Pia likewise said the she doesn’t have to post everything on social media to please everyone

During her reign as the Miss World Philippines 2018, Katarina Rodriguez’s main advocacy was focus on world peace -achieving world peace by starting with young children by providing them proper education on nonviolent communication.

The beauty queen was hit by a netizen, who criticized her for being silent about the recent bombing incident in Mindanao. “Di ba, advocacy mo sa Miss World is peace education? Anong masasabi mo sa recent bombings in Mindanao?,” the netizen wrote.

“Bakit tahimik ka na ngayon? Dahil ba tapos na ang Miss World at clapper ka? Kalowka.”

In her response, the Miss World Philippine 2018 titlist emphasized that she doesn’t have to share her work on social media, all the time.

“I don’t need to promote the meetings I have, of [the] work I do 24/7,” she said. “Before Miss World or any pageant for that matter, I was already involved but never posted on social media. I don’t need to show everything I do on social media or be active on IG all the time.”

But the netizen was disappointed of the lack of response on Katarina’s part with the recent incident.

“The irony. So, you don’t post or IG story your so-called charity works, but mga kabebehan, mo pinopost mo,” he said. “Now is the right time to use your voice, queen. Don’t get me wrong. I’m one of your fans pero nakaka-disappoint lang.”

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach also faced the same criticism as Katarina Rodriguez when she was also questioned of not doing her advocacy. Pia posted a long message on her Instagram for critics who accused her of not doing her duties as an HIV/AIDS advocate and for not persistently posting on social media.

“Just to get some things straight. I haven’t forgotten about my advocacy, okay? I’m so tired of people complaining that I haven’t found “the cure” for HIV when clearly I said I would raise awareness. I’m not magically gonna come up with a potion that cures everything,” Pia wrote.

Being crowned in front of the people, Pia asked if they really understood her answer to the final question during the Miss Universe competition.

“I said I would raise awareness. Putting the spotlight on it so we can start talking about it. Just like during the competition, I wasn’t posting my everyday pageant activities and that has upset a lot of fans. They thought I wasn’t doing any effort.”

Just like Katarina Rodriguez, Pia also said the she doesn’t have to post everything on social media to please everyone.

Discrimination and Racism are Real even with these 12 Famous Celebrities

Discrimination and Racism are Real even with these 12 Famous Celebrities

  • Personalities who once experienced discrimination.
  • The following people experienced bullying and racism in and out of the country.

With the recent discrimination that gone viral, let’s look back to other well-known personalities who did not escape such.

Gilas Pilipinas.

Who can forget the controversial game of Gilas Pilipinas against Australia‘s team that resulted to a huge fight at the mid-game of FIBA World Cup Asian qualifier.

The fight did not start from nothing as the Gilas players claimed that the members of the opposing team called them midgets and monkeys.

Wilma Doesnt.

A socialite actress once uttered the words to Wilma: “Pwede ba maligo ka pagkatapos niyan?

“May nag-discriminate sa akin, isang socialite actress. Oo, nagtrabaho na ako noon. Kasi kausap ko ‘yung asawa niya so may kausap din akong friend, most of my friends are boys. So baka kasi dahil nga lumaki ako sa neighborhood ng boys.

“So kausap ko ‘yung asawa niya gani-ganiyan, so ‘yung asawa niya tawa nang tawa because komedyante ako. Alam mo ba humarap sa akin [at sinabi niya] ‘Puwede ba maligo ka pagkatapos niyan ha.’”

Veejay Floresca.

Fashion designer Veejay was once denied entry at  high-end lounge and bar Valkyrie in Taguig.

The designer showed her California State ID that indicated her female name and gender marker, however, the bouncer still muttered, “Lalaki pa rin yan.”

She said that this was her second time being denied in the club because of their no-cross-dressers policy.

Trixie Maristela.

The Miss International Queen 2015 was also denied entry to Valkyrie because of her “inappropriate” outfit.

She took it to Facebook to share her disappointment as she was wearing a simple neon dress with sleeves at the time.

BB Gandanghari.

BB Gandanghari was denied entry to Aruba Bar & Restraurant in Metrowalk. She was not allowed to enter as cross-dressing was not allowed at the place.

She was supposed to watch Rannie Raymundo‘s concert, however, she decided not to push through.

Bianca Gonzales.

Bianca once admitted that she’s a victim of bullying and discrimination because of her tan skin.

She shared her experience in one episode of Boy Abunda’s The Bottomline

“Sinasabi lang nila negra, baluga. Masakit talaga.

“Hindi ko maintindihan. ‘Di ba Pilipino tayo? We are supposed to have brown skin. It was a mystery to me bakit binu-bully ang brown skinned?”

She added that it hurts more because she once had a crush at the guy who bullied her.

Sam YG.

The DJ and television personality revealed that he was bullied as a kid just because he’s Indian.

“Nandoon ‘yung notion ng five-six, na mabaho [ang mga Indian]. Lahat ng mga kaklase ko, pinagti-trip-an ako. Parang ‘ah, ayaw naming makipag-basketball sa iyo kasi mabaho ka. Bawal kang makipaglaro sa amin.’ As in solid discrimination, talagang heart-crushing. Masakit talaga.”

Lea Salonga.

A few years ago, Broadway Diva Lea Salonga shared that she was once rejected for the role of Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady’.

The reason was that she  she’s Asian. But instead of dwelling on the rejection, it urged her to prove that race has nothing to do with any talent.

Pia Wurtzbach.

“I experience bullying in different forms” the 2015 Miss Universe stated. “I felt like I was the odd one out growing up in the province because I was half-Filipino and half-German, so I wasn’t full blooded Filipina and of course I was the tallest in my class and I felt kind of awkward. I went through an awkward phase and even when I was an actress, there was a lot of scrutiny there as well.”

She also shared that she had a hard time finding a job in England just because she’s a female.

Rhian Ramos.

Rhian shared on Instagram and unpleasant experience while having a vacation in France.

She said that she encountered a racist lady in a restaurant but instead of arguing, she brushed off the incident.

Jake Zyrus.

In an interview with GMA Network’s news program “24 Oras”, Zyrus opened up about his experience using public bathrooms in the Philippines. He said that whenever he approaches a restroom, he gets “the look” from people, which leads him to sometimes use the separate stall for people with disability, just to avoid conflict.

KaladKaren Davila.

The most recent incident of viral discrimination was KaladKaren‘s encounter at a H&J Sportsbar in Poblacion, Makati.

She and her friends were denied entry by the security personnel because according to the latter, gay people are not allowed inside.

Metro Magazine’s May 2018 Issue is Confidently Beautiful with Huawei P20 Pro

Metro Magazine’s May 2018 Issue is Confidently Beautiful with Huawei P20 Pro

Upon seeing Miss Pia Wurtzbach, we all can possibly think that beauty, at times, can be aloof, not-so-relatable, or merely special to someone.

Yes, it’s no-nonsense that we all wanted to become Miss Universe – at the very least, in secret. Be that as it may, we are only given enough. But, what if beauty can be relatable for a price?

Upon seeing Miss Pia Wurtzbach, we all can possibly think that beauty, at times, can be aloof, not-so-relatable, or merely special to someone. Yes, it’s no-nonsense that we all wanted to become Miss Universe – at the very least, in secret. Be that as it may, we are only given enough. But, what if beauty can be relatable for a price?

Metro Magazine’s May issue is, yet again, another exhibition – confidently beautiful, without a doubt. They did it once more by following their last year’s trend of using a phone camera to shoot the ever-beautiful Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach for their July 2017 issue.

Now, using another camera phone to shoot Miss Pia Wurtzbach, photographer Dookie Ducay made proof yet again that cameras are mere tools and that developing a great taste is indeed more important in both fashion and photography.

For their May 2018 issue, Metro Magazine proved a point that a Miss Universe-kind of beauty may also be possible (and of course, relatable) by using Huawei P20 Pro – fitted out with a triple rear camera system, which is first of its kind.

Boasting a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor, and an 8-megapixel image sensor, this device is able to capture a wide-ranging set of colors and frame more details, textures and depths to make the photos more realistic.

Apart from this, Huawei P20 Pro sports Artificial Intelligence Stabilisation (ASI), not merely to give out a further bettered camera, but also to cater a monster battery life and storage chip.Absolutely, we can only imagine how much goodness it would bring about to our home-taken photos.

Beauty is now made relatable by Huawei for Php44,990.

Complete your wishlist now with the new ‘Things I Like’ App

Complete your wishlist now with the new ‘Things I Like’ App

  • ‘Things I Like’ is now the hottest mobile application now
  • Guessing Game no more as ‘Things I Like’ helps you to decide what to give to your friends and family for any occasion

It’s the holiday season again and I’m sure you’re already preparing your gift wishlist. If I got that correctly, might as well I share you an exciting new way of letting your family and friends know what do you want to receive for Christmas or any other occasion.

Guessing game no more

Admit it, even if we know people more than they know themselves, when it comes to gift-giving, our thoughts go blackout. We always say they have everything already. Uhmm.. I know, nonsense. They will always have their gift list, but we are just too shy to ask.

And yes, I have quite a solution for that.

Introducing the Things I Like mobile application. An app created by a tech company based in Hong Kong has finally solved the puzzle. Things I Like aims to let people interact more with each other by posting pictures of what they want to have for their birthday, for Christmas, or for no reason at all.

This is an effective platform for those who struggle with what to give to a certain person or on the other hand, for your friends and family to know what you want for a gift.

Study time

Well, if you’re thinking it’s a complicated app, you’re wrong. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. You just log in via email or you can enter by using your Facebook account.

Voila, here’s what your profile will look like. This will set as the dashboard of all the things you want to get for a specific feast.

And your news feed. Here, you will see the things your friends post on their wall–the gifts they want to receive.

If you want to share what you like, you can repost the things you see on your feed or you upload a photo of it yourself.

After, choose a category. This is typically what occasion or when do you want that gift to be given to you.

For ideas, you can check the ‘Shuffle & Search’ tool where you can find at the bottom left. You can modify the settings in which you can see the posts that have the ‘Most LIKES’ and ‘Most REPOSTS’.

The other good thing about this app is that if you’re a fan of any celebrity we have right now, you can finally know what they want to have. Many celebrities have been using this app for months now. Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff, Pia Wurtzbach, Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Rhian Ramos, the most celebrated one Nadine Lustre, and many more.

The app is now available for both iOS App Store and Android PlayStore.

What are you waiting for? Install now!

5 Reasons Thailand Is Every Woman Traveller’s Next Destination

5 Reasons Thailand Is Every Woman Traveller’s Next Destination

“I like that it feels like home, and this is an honest truth. Especially to Filipinos, it doesn’t feel different, and for the women, it’s very safe, you can travel alone if you want. That’s what I did. It really has so many to offer,” says Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach when asked of Thailand, a country she has traveled to and from before, during and after her beauty queen reign.

Thailand is a haven for Pia, a go-to destination she has constantly returned to for work and leisure. In fact, Thailand played a significant role in her journey to the crown, seeking peace and blessings in Thai temples when she lost the second time in her bid to be the Philippines’ Miss Universe representative. Coming back from her Thailand trip, Pia took on the Binibining Pilinas pageant for the third time—and this time, she bagged the right to represent the country for Miss Universe. The rest is a well-known history.

Pia, along with other influencers around Asia, want women travelers to know how Thailand is the perfect place for travel. So the beauty queen serves as the Philippine representative to the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Women’s Journey Thailand 2017, a tourism campaign that promotes travel for women in Thailand.

Coming back to Thailand last July, Pia experienced the best of what it’s like for women to travel in Thailand. Here what’s in store for ladies who want a quick getaway in the sunny country:

1. Thailand is a beauty and wellness capital.

Discover what it means to be truly on vacation—Thailand is home to the best spas and resorts, and no one should go home without experiencing a proper Thai massage, one of the best services the country has to offer. According to Pia, two hours of Thai massage is enough for her to feel she slept overnight.

2. You’ll go crazy shopping in Thailand.

From novelty finds at the Chatuchak Weekend Market to stylish looks at The Platinum mall, the country is a haven for both cheap buys and—if you search hard enough—unique pieces that only you will be possession of.

3. There are peaceful spaces for prayer and meditation.

Pull a Pia Wurtzbach and pray to the gods for inner peace as you meditate in Thailand’s ornately beautiful temples.

4. Learn how to cook exquisite Thai food straight from the source!

While cooking is an interest both men and women can enjoy, Thai cooking lessons are a fun and interactive experience for women traveling alone or together.

5. Kick off your new fitness regime with an authentic Thai boxing session.

Popularly known as Muay Thai, the national sport of Thailand is an intense combination of boxing, kicking and elbow combat, practiced by people all over the world. What better way to treat yourself to the most effective of all full body workouts than where Muay Thai itself originated. Brace yourself though—it’s not for the weak-hearted!
