Former Kapamilyas react to ABS-CBN-TV5 deal

They expressed their excitement for the block time agreement between the two big networks

Media giant ABS-CBN has announced that its Sunday noontime variety show ASAP Natin ‘To and FPJ: Da King will be airing on TV5 starting Sunday, January 24. It will be replacing the network’s very own variety show Sunday Noontime Live (SNL).

Brightlight Productions announced that despite only starting in October 2020, SNL will not be airing beyond January 17 as the production house would not renew the show for another season.

ASAP Natin’To has been continuously showcasing some of ABS-CBN’s talents in the form of a variety show broadcast. It is headlined by well-known performers such as Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gary Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, Ogie Alcasid, and Regine Velasquez.

On the other hand, FPJ: Da King will be a movie block that will feature films starring Fernando Poe Jr. It is set to air every Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM.

“This collaboration between CIGNAL, TV5, Brightlight Productions, and ABS-CBN marks the start of greater cooperation among our various industry players and begins a new era of partnership,” TV5 President and CEO Robert Galang stated.

“The airing of ASAP and FPJ’s movies on TV5 showcases the desires of TV5 and ABS-CBN to serve our viewers in the best way possible.”

Former Kapamilya DJ Chacha described the deal as a “win-win” situation for both parties. She also called the supporters of both ABS-CBN and TV5 “Kapatilya” which is a mix of “Kapamilya” and “Kapatid”.

Direk Lauren Dyogi also said that the deal is for the networks to reach more audiences.

Comedian and It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda then expressed his happiness on Twitter.

Jove Francisco tweeted about the merge as well.

“What’s up mga Kapamilya at Kapatid!” @iamjeremyg said.

Lui Andrada then said that it’s “good news.”

Darla Sauler flexed the reach of ABS-CBN now that it has acquired another timeslot on television.

Zsa Zsa Padilla promoted the upcoming ASAP Natin ‘To premiere on TV5.

Prior to the partnership with TV5, ABS-CBN entered a block time agreement with Zoe Broadcasting to air some of its shows via A2Z Channel 11. It was after the company failed to get a fresh franchise from Congress.
