Being a star of a television show is without a doubt tiring and schedules can get crazy at times. However, this does not stop ‘Sahaya’ star Bianca Umali from pursuing a college education.
The Umali just graduated from senior high-school and got her diploma from Veritas Catholic School in Paranáque City in March.
“Magpapatuloy ako ng college and I will pursue a degree.”
It seemed that the young star is determined to finish college despite her busy schedule.
She is still not certain of what school she will be enrolling in but there is no question that she will pursue a degree. To her, education is still important even though she gets paid handsomely for acting.
“Wala pang sure na school at wala pa rin certain course, pero tuloy-tuloy ‘yun.”
Bianca pointed that everything they do on the set is hard but is worth it because of the support they get from the fans.
“Lahat ng bagay sa Sahaya, kung paano gawin walang madali talaga. But then again, dahil sa suporta at sa pagmamahal ng mga tao sa amin nagiging worth it at nagpe-pay off ‘yung mga ginagawa namin.”
The cast also agreed and said that things are more difficult on the set because of the heat. Not only that, the capturing of scenes is hard because the entire theme is set on water. The cameras are positioned on the boat or the in the water.
“I’ve never done this before kasi ‘yung set namin nasa tubig. The angles are not as easy to capture because hindi naman kwadrado lahat at hindi siya isang kwarto. And the cameras have to be mounted on the water or on a boat,” shared Mylene Dizon, one of the cast members.
“Lahat ng ipinapakita ko, lahat ng efforts ko, lahat galing sa puso. Which is, ngayon ko lang na masasabi kong ginawa para sa isang role,” Umali added.
‘Sahaya’ has positive receptions from critics and fans alike. Watch ‘Sahaya’ every 8:20 pm on the GMA Network.
A hit-and-run incident happened in Makati involving the “Starstruck” Season 6 Ultimate Male Survivor Migo Adecer on Tuesday night, March 26. While the artist was driving a white Subaru BRZ, he struck two employees of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) who were riding a motorcycle.
The assistant chief of police for operations of the Makati City Police, Maj. Gideon Ines, said that after the suspect struck the victims identified as Rogelio Formelos Castillano and Michelle Gallova Papin, instead of helping the victims, the suspect took off.
Upon witnessing the incident, the traffic enforcers chased the artist and the bystanders rushed the victims to a nearby hospital in Makati. The suspect was cornered along N. Garcia St. as reported by Police Col. Rogelio Simon, chief of police of Makati City. He became unruly and refused to surrender his license. The artist even attempted to escape the arrest and hit a police car.
“Inipit namin ‘yung kaniyang sasakyan kaya hindi na siya makaabante… Inatras niya ngayon ‘yung kaniyang sasakyan at nabangga itong nakaharang na mobile namin,” he said.
According to the police officer, he was under the influence of alcohol.
“Halatang lango siya sa alak. Kinakausap namin, wala sa sarili. Nagsisigaw-sigaw,” he added.
On Tuesday afternoon, Adecer was also involved in another traffic violation in Rockwell for driving recklessly and surrendered his driver’s license. Now, the police who were investigating the confiscated license on Tuesday night said it was fake.
Because of the incident, Adecer will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries and damage to property and disobedience to a person in authority.
On Wednesday, Adecer was released from detention after posting bail and said that he had learned a lot from the incident that happened. In behalf of Migo Adecer, his lawyer, Marie Glen Abraham- Garduque, was the one who became his spoke person.
“This was not a good experience to Migo, but he learned a lot from this. He would like to apologize to all the persons who had been adversely affected by this incident,” his lawyer Marie Glen Abraham-Garduque said in a statement.
During the investigation, he apologized to the police authorities on what had happened as a result of mixed emotions and confusion, during the situation, “He already said sorry to the police authorities, explaining to them that disobeying them is his most remote intention. Whatever he said and done was just a product of mixed fear and confusion because of the situation,” Abraham-Garduque added.
He thanked the two MMDA employees who withdrew their complaints, whom he had struck by a sports car. And he is willing to shoulder the hospital expenses of the two who are still recovering at a hospital in Makati.
“He would like to say thank you as well to the two victims, who are kind enough to forgive him and decided to desist in filing any legal action against him,” the lawyer said.

Recently, Star Cinema, under the direction of Cathy Garcia Molina, announced the first-ever movie of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, who will play the role of an OFW working in Hong Kong.
During the story conference of the KathDen movie last Tuesday, Alden was given a warm welcome by director Cathy Grace Molina, Roxy Liiquigan, Mico del Rosario, and director Olive ‘Inang’ Lamasan.
According to Roxy Liquigan, it took “5 months preparation” to arrange the team-up and there were speculations that the movie will not push through because Alden Richard is exclusively for GMA Network, and there was a possibility that the GMA Artist Center would not allowed him to do the project.
But with the help of Philip Rojas of Asian Artist Agency, headed by Boy Abunda, the project was made possible.
When both artists were asked about their reactions knowing that they would be working together, Kathryn said, “Kung tatanungin niyo ako kung kinakabahan ako, super!” and Alden’s reaction was, “Siyempre, first-time kong makakatrabaho si Kath. We’ve been seeing each other for a long time.”
Kathryn and Alden are known for having strong and loyal fans in their respective love teams, Kathryn with Daniel Padilla for “KathNiel, and Alden with Maine Mendoza for “Aldub.”
But having this new team-up, both their fans positively accepted the upcoming “KathDen” movie.
To show their love and support for both artist they posted their reaction on Twitter.

Some KathNiel fans show maturity by showing support for the upcoming movie.
And now because of Maine’s announcement on her blog that he is dating Arjo Atayde, some of the AlDub fans felt sad and hope this new team up would be a successful one.

At a blog conference last February 26, newly-signed Kapuso actors Jason Abalos, Edgar Allan Guzman, and Paul Salas shared their thoughts regarding the new dramas with peculiar concepts that the GMA Network has been brewing.
‘Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko,’ ‘Dragon Lady,’ and ‘Kara Mia’ are the new television series which have been gathering online buzz due to their unique and odd concepts, and to which three of the said actors are starring in, respectively.
Jason Abalos stars as Nathan, who became the transgender woman Venus in ‘Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko.’ Edgar Allan Guzman is part of the ‘Dragon Lady’ cast that is about a woman with features of a dragon, while Paul Salas has a role in ‘Kara Mia’ which centers on two sisters with two heads but share the same body.
“As an actor, kaya nga tayo pumupunta kung saan may trabaho at kung saan masho-showcase natin ang craft natin.
Paul Salas expressed excitement in being part of Kara Mia. “Yung GMA naman po talaga is talagang the best po talaga sila sa paggawa ng fantaserye. Kumbaga professional na sila diyan so karangalan po sa akin na mapasali sa ganung mga plan nila katulad ng Kara Mia,” he said.
Jason Abalos, on the other hand, admitted that he was challenged to act for the role that was assigned to him. “Parang lumalawak yung range namin bilang artista para makagawa ng iba’t ibang klaseng roles para sa ibat ibang proyekto. Para sa akin, ito ‘yung puwedeng magpatagal kumbaga makikita namin kung hanggang saan ‘yung kakayahan namin.”

Paolo Contis, a known child actor who has been in the industry for over two decades, just gave the monumental performance of his career in the film “Through Night and Day.”
It is also one of the best lead performances by an actor last year which featured the story about ill-fated lovers.
Contis is recognized for doing comedy roles by having debuted in Ang TV, a youth-oriented variety show in the Philippines. He is also a regular in the Bubble Gang show, but the actor’s varied personality showed he can also competently dabble in “serious” roles.”
He is now in soap operas once again, appearing in “Hiram na Anak.” This is currently shown in the mornings before “Eat Bulaga.”
The central theme of family drama of Contis’ new soap touches the surface of the actor’s behind-the-scenes life. It is known that he is in a relationship with LJ Reyes and already has a daughter with her. “Hands on kami sa pag-aalaga sa kanya,” he expressed.
Asked by People’s Journal Mario Bautista if the celebrity sees himself and LJ walking down the aisle, Contis answered, “Yes. As soon as maayos lahat ng legalities, I’d love to marry her. But I’m still legally married to someone else.”
This is in reference to former dancer Lian Paz, who now lives in Cebu with their two daughters and her own new partner.
“But I cannot talk about our annulment case. Basta nasa korte pa siya, pero inaayos naman namin. Aware naman si LJ sa status ko and she’s very patient about it. Alam naman niyang she’s the one I want to spend the rest of my life with,” added Contis.
As for his two daughters with Paz, Contis has this to say, “I love them but magkalayo kami so I hope one day, maipaliwanag ko sa kanila ang lahat at, sana, ma-meet din nila balang araw ang sister nilang si Baby Summer. Alam mo, habang tumatanda ka, you just want to have a peaceful, quiet life. Kung anuman ang mistakes na nagawa mo before, you just want to correct them and live harmoniously with everyone in your life.”
Kris Bernal, the ‘Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko’ star, officially launched her lipstick line SHE Cosmetics in Taguig City on Thursday, as she wanted her brand to encourage women to work for their dreams.
“It speaks about women, I want it to be a representation of my story, of how I did it, of how I built SHE Cosmetics,” said Kris.
The words “SHE Cosmetics” symbolizes the hard work of a woman as she wants it to relate to all women who are trying to pursue their dreams and visions.
“So at first, naisip ko brand ko Kris B. Cosmetics but then pahirap ng pahirap ‘yong journey ko, naisip ko I want it to be relatable to women, women who have dreams, women who have strong visions and ‘yong mga girls na nafi-feel nilang ‘di nila kaya but then because you’re a girl, you’re a woman, you can do it. You got it girl!”
Kris believes that we all have dreams and we want to achieve it. But it takes a lot of hard work, passion and determination to make it happen.
“Alam ko maraming makaka-relate doon kasi lahat naman tayo may mga pangarap tayo, may mga gusto tayong ma-achieve sa buhay natin but then ‘yon nga andiyan ‘yong hard work, andiyan ‘yong passion, andiyan ‘yong determination mo, magagawa at magagawa mo rin ‘yon,” she said.
The names of the five lipstick shade also hold a message of empowerment for women. The lipstick names are She Lovin’ It (nude pink), Off She Goes (nude peach), So She-Ic (tangy cinnamon), Go Girl (fuschia pink) and She’s On Fire (bright red) and, still, she is open for suggestions.
Starting February to October, Kris Bernal is hands-on on her lipstick line, from the formula, production, and marketing up until the launch.
“Alam mo ‘pag tinignan mo ‘yong product ‘yang buong ‘yan ako talaga ‘yan eh, lahat ng nakikita niyong detalye, kahit nga itong launch ako nga nag-contact sa lahat ng tao dito lahat talaga trinabaho ko,” she said.
In formulating her own lipstick brand, she even suffers from allergy because of trying different kinds of lipsticks to find the perfect formula for her brand; and the manufacturers she tried “from our local suppliers, to Japan, US, and China.”
“May time na nagka-allergy na ako, sinusubukan ko siya from day to night ‘yong longevity niya kung matatanggal nga siya, ‘pag kumain ka ng oily food matatanggal siyempre ‘yong lipstick.”
As she was asked what makes her product different for the others, she said she has worked for it alone. She said that unlike other brands that has their brand collaboration, partners or investors, Kris stated that she have done it all by herself.
“Tinatanong nga nila ako lagi what makes your product different sabi ko feel ko it’s because I did it all alone, ako lang talaga mag-isa I mean others have brand collabs or they have their own partners or investors pero with this one talaga all by myself ang peg,” she said.
SHE Cosmetics’ first lipstick line is a cushion matte liquid infused lip stick with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like peppermint oil, Bulgarian rose, Rosehips, macadamia, and camellia.
In terms of doing business, Kris is open for reselling so her fans have opportunities in having a job.
“Gusto ko kasi mabigyan ng trabaho mga fans ko, so medyo dinagdagan ko siya ngayon P399 na siya kasi magkakaroon ako ng resellers ‘yong mga fans ko kasi nagbebenta and gusto ko sila bigyan ng percentage for this, at the same time ang dami ring nag-iinquire ng reselling,” she said.
For the First time, Enchong Dee, a Kapamilya actor was allowed to guest on the top-rating and long-running noontime show of GMA Network, ‘Eat Bulaga,’ to promote his movie with Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez under Regal Entertainment, ‘Elise,’ from the writer and director Joel Ferrer that will hit cinemas nationwide starting February 6, 2019.
Echong was so happy to appear on ‘Eat Bulaga’ and be part of the segment ‘BOOM’ with Janine. He even tweeted on his account to thank the show.
“Maraming salamat sa masayang experience @EatBulaga at salamat sa mga nanuod na dabarkads😊👍🏼👍🏼”
Despite Enchong Dee being allowed to guest on the GMA network noontime show, it was already a no for Janine Gutierrez to guest in “It’s Showtime” of ABS-CBN to promote their upcoming movie.
Both are more comfortable working with each while doing the romantic–comedy ‘Elise’ as they already have experienced doing an indie film entitled ‘Lila’ that was directed by Gino Santos in 2016.
According to Janine, Enchong Dee is one of her closest friends in showbiz and it happened that he is also a close friend of Rayver Cruz, Janine’s rumored boyfriend, a former Kapamilya actor who is now a Kapuso talent.
Janine was askedt if she would be willing to work again with his ex-boyfriend Elmo Magalona who is now on the Kapamilya network. She answered, “not for now.”
“Huwag na lang muna. Marami pa namang iba riyan na hindi ko pa nakakatrabaho,” she answered.
She graduated in Ateneo de Manila taking up European Studies in the year 2011 as her parent’s requirement before she embarks on a showbiz career. And by the following year, she decided to be in showbiz and have more focus in that direction.
“Yun talaga ang gusto ng parents ko na tapusin muna ang pag-aaral bago mag-showbiz na sinunod ko naman.”
Janine has an upcoming TV series on the Kapuso network, a fantasy-drama entitle ‘Dragon Lady’ with Tom Rodriguez, Joyce Ching, and Edgar Allan Guzman to be directed by Paul Sta. Ana.
Super Tekla became emotional when telling about his backstory and his journey from the mountains of Cotabato to his success in showbusiness.
“Bata palang ako, ayaw ko nang madilim … Gusto ko, nung bata ako, makakakita ako ng ilaw, makakakita ako ng sasakyan kasi nasa bundok po talaga kami, out of civilization. Hindi po naabot ng kuryente, ilang ilog ang tinatawid namin. Umiiyak po ako. Kaya nung high school ako, lumabas na ako, bumaba ako ng bundok at sa city na ako tumira,” related Tekla, Romeo Librada in real life.
A loving husband and father, he tried his luck in Manila to bring his family out of poverty.
“Nung comedy bar days ko, doon medyo okay naman, may kita. Pero ako, hindi nag-sink in sa utak ko na, dito, may chance ako sa showbiz. Bumagsak ako sa comedy bar dahil nagkaroon ako ng isang napakabigat na depresyon sa life ko. Dumating ako sa puntong natutulog na ako sa kalsada kasi wala akong shelter, wala akong lahat.”
He also told of his story when he had his big break in the Will of Fortune show and his hesitation to join because of fear, but which he later accepted.
“Siguro doon talaga ako nabe-belong and then suddenly, nangangailangan si Kuya Wil ng komedyante. Okay, so naghahanap siya ng karakter na bakla. Eh hindi naman ako bakla. Karakter, nakakatawa. Apat na beses ko atang ini-snob si Kuya Wil sa show na ‘yun. Ayaw kong tanggapin yung offer, kasi, unang-una, natatakot ako sa kanya pero nung panlima, wala na akong magawa kasi pina-search, pinahanap talaga ako.”
According to him, despite everything that had happened (referring to his controversy in Wowowin), he is thankful to the GMA Network for their thrust and support.
“And then, ‘yun na nga ‘yung time na ‘di ko alam, ‘yung pagsali ko sa ‘Wil of Fortune,’ ‘yun ‘yung shining moment ko. After many years na pinagtiisan ko, ‘yun pala ‘yung tinatawag na right timing… Thank you, GMA. Despite everything, ‘yung tiwala kasi napakahirap ibigay ‘yun. Thank you, thank you so much.”
Now, he co-stars on the hit comedy show, ‘The Boobay and Tekla Show,’ along with Boobay which airs every Sunday night on GMA Network.

Barbie Forteza, one of GMA network’s well-known actresses, is celebrating her 10th year in the showbiz industry this 2019.
After spending 10 years in the industry embarking in different roles and projects, she has earned the epithet “Tween Queen” throughout her teenage years.
During the ‘Kara Mia’ series press launch, Barbie was asked about her loyalty to her mother network.
According to Barbie, she has never thought of leaving the Kapuso network.
Indeed, the Kapuso management had won her loyalty as shown in GMA Network’s trust of giving her projects to continue her craft. She trusts that GMA Network would continue to support her dream of becoming a great actress.
Born Beautiful star Martin del Rosario once again addressed a question regarding his sexuality.
“Gusto ninyo akong subukan,” he answered when a member of the press asked him the controversial query during the press conference of the movie Barbs, where he plays the role of a transgender.
He also countered that he doesn’t mind the question anymore as he has been asked if he was gay for the past 10 years now.
“Wala, okay lang. Actually, sige, pag-usapan niyo pa. Parang okay nga, eh…
“Kasi… buti sana kung nag-e-exert din ako ng effort na patulan at sagutin. Pero ngayon kasi, ilang beses ko nang nasagot, so ayoko nang sagutin pa, paulit-ulit. I mean, ilang beses ko nang nasagot, ten years na …
Wala naman akong kailangang sagutin.”
Del Rosario added that he respects the opinion of others, but what’s more important is that he knows himself better.
“So, opinion nila yun and ako… ako yung taong hindi pikon. Kung ano yung opinyon mo, kung saan ka masaya, e, di go.
“Kung pangit ako, pangit ugali ko, e, di, okay lang. Tingin mo ‘yan. Basta ako, I know myself. So, yun yung mas importante.”
