Twenty-year-old YouTuber Brooke Houts, who is from LA, accidentally uploaded a video of herself abusing her dog. The original title of the video was “plastic wrap prank on my Doberman.”
Houts is known to include her Doberman named Sphynx in her videos to garner more views.
In the video, Houts is seen screaming and hitting her dog’s face. She also grabbed Sphynx by the fur and forced him down to the floor, then proceeded to spit on him.
Knowing that she made a mistake, she immediately deleted the video and put up a new one that was carefully edited.
The original video has been downvoted nearly 30,000 times and people have not forgotten about it.
Her subscribers went from 340,000 to 330,000.
Houts then released a statement on Twitter and apologized, but denied ever spitting on her dog.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the horrible video accidentally uploaded by @brookehouts to her YouTube. She is exactly the type of owner no dobie should have. She’s abusive & mean to an animal that wasn’t doing anything even remotely aggressive. . . #brookehouts #doberman #dobermansofig #dobermanpinscher #dobiesrule #largebreeddogs #animalabuse
She said that the way she treats her dog in her previous videos is really the way she is.
“The bubbly, happy-go-lucky Brooke that you often see in my videos is typically an accurate representation of me, but it’s obvious that I’m playing up my mood in this video when I’m clearly actually frustrated.”
She admitted that she didn’t have to hurt her dog like that, but as an owner, she had to discipline him.
“When my 75 lb. Doberman is jumping up in my face with his mouth open, I do, as a dog parent, have to show him that this behavior is unacceptable. But I want to make it known, REGARDLESS of what my dog does, I should not have acted that way towards him.”
Houts also said that her dog did not feel any pain during the process, because if he did, then he would have acted different. Moreover, she mentions that they are about to get a dog trainer, and said that anyone who knows her knows that she has “immense love for animals.”

What you did is not training or an attempt at training. It is abuse. No trainer would have told you to do anything you did. All you can do to redeem yourself and fix this is get the dog a humane home and get yourself into therapy. I offer to take the dog. @yashar

On July 25 at around 11:30 am, Odessa Uy Antonio Eugenio was riding around the Port Area when she saw a man butchering a dead dog on the side of the road.
She immediately notified Major Jhun Ibay of the Manila Police District who responded immediately and arrested the man on the spot.
She took pictures of the scene. The dead dog looked like it had already been cooked as the man was cutting pieces off it.
Eugenio also informed the police first before posting anything on social media.
Netizens were disgusted with the suspect.

Isko Moreno’s Facebook page responded to the situation saying, “Dog killer captured . Bawal po pumatay Ng Aso at lalung Lalo na ay bawal magluto Ng aso”
A Facebook user named Nemie Zaballero Carurucan shared her distress upon seeing how her neighbor left a dog under the scorching heat of the sun.
In a video taken by Carurucan, the dog is shown tied up outside the house under the intense heat of the sun. Not only that, the netizen also reports that this is what happens every day.
The dog’s chain is also too short and as a result, the dog had to sit with its head uncomfortably pulled back.
Carurucan tried to remove the chain but it was locked so the only way that they could help the dog was by giving it a stool to be more comfortable but unfortunately, the dog dies at the end.

The Animal Welfare Act of the Philippines states that “It shall be unlawful for any person to torture any animal, to neglect to provide adequate care, sustenance or shelter, or maltreat any animals” and any person that will be found guilty of the violation may be punished by imprisonment, no less than six months.
“A dog is a man’s best friend,” this is probably the first thing that will come to one’s mind when asked why many people love dogs. This is a common phrase that summarizes the close relationship and loyalty of dogs with a man.
People take pride in their dogs, often, treating them like their own child. Who wouldn’t? Dogs are the best. They stay with us and we know that no matter what happens, they are our ‘constant’.
However, if we want our pets to be with us forever, we must take care of them appropriately, or else, we might feel sorry if something bad happens…
LOOK! One netizen shared on Facebook a video of a dog whining inside a pet cage. The pet owners seem to have decided to put the dog outside the car while traveling. According to the post, the dog has been barking and whining the whole time that it was inside the cage because of the heat outside.
The video was taken along the North Luzon Expressway or NLEX.
Post reads: “How can this owner not put the dog inside the car where it can be cooler? The dog kept on barking and whining. I could just imagine the heat while traveling for hours along NLex.”
WATCH! As seen in the video, it is very disheartening to see the dog whining and suffering. Being in a cage is already uncomfortable enough for an animal, what more if it is outside the scorching heat?
After the video was posted, many netizens have expressed their disappointment towards the inappropriate treatment of the pet owners towards the dog. Many netizens also commented how unsafe it is for a dog to be outside the car while traveling and that it is already a form of animal cruelty.
Although some netizens also reasoned out that maybe there is a reason on why the owners decided to put the dog outside the car, still, many got angry over the unsafe treatment towards the dog.
REMEMBER: As pet owners, one must take note of a pet’s well-being and take care of them appropriately. It is important to provide a safe and healthy environment for our animals. If one decides to own a pet, then remember that it is a lifetime commitment and it is a must to be always responsible.

An outrage hits the town of this Indian woman who killed 15 puppies in front of their mother to teach the dog a lesson. Weeks ago, the town of Krishnanagar, India was a target of hate comments from netizens because of the incident.
Knowing the situation in India, it has a lot of stray animals in its streets. These stray animals are just trying to find food and shelter.
While some people leave out food outside for these stray dogs to eat, some adopt them generously.
A four-year-old stray dog in Krishnanagar delivered her 15 new-born puppies in a gutter by the gate of this woman’s house. Upon seeing the end result, Ponamma, the puppy killer, went all hell breaks loose. She held each puppy one by one and slammed them against rocks before throwing the dead bodies in front of the mother dog. Ammu, the mother dog, just stood there watching the heartless woman killed her babies.
The India Times said in a report that Ammu kept nudging the dead bodies of her babies trying to wake them up. Frantic and running around, the mother dog tried to get some help from other villagers.
Responding to the mourning dog, some people near Ponamma’s house called NGOs for help. Fortunately, the ruthless woman was arrested after getting a complaint. If proven guilty, she would face up to five years in jail.

The cases of animal cruelty have increased once again.
Last March 11, Marlen Mamaed posted a status along with three pictures related to the subject on her Facebook account. She said that her pet cat had been with her for four or five years already. She saw her cat back when it was still a kitten and decided to take her home.
Apparently, the cat was shot by an arrow in its upper body by some ruthless person.
Presently, she is still unaware of who had done such horrendous thing to her beloved pet. However, they have been suspecting that it was the kids who had done that to her pet, since they were the ones who stole the kittens beforehand and caged them as they played with them.
She also said that the cat is very kind, that she does not deserve to be treated like that. Her cat is very charming and is not violent in any way.
The concerned netizen tagged the Philippine Animal Welfare Society to ask for help in the hopes of getting the cat saved.
As of the moment, the cat is still missing but Mamaed’s family has been looking for their pet since last night. The poor animal disappeared when she was about to be treated and hasn’t gone home since then.
The netizens had lost faith in humanity once again after reading Burn Casano Celestial’s post last March 3, 2017.
She shared that while they were on their way to the Cagbalete Island’s sand bar, they saw a dog walking along with them to the same direction. It was concluded that this poor dog was stabbed because the knife was still attached to its ribs. What’s more saddening is that nobody has tried to remove the knife and offer some medical treatment to the animal.
Posted by Bernadette Celestial on Thursday, March 2, 2017
After learning what happened to the dog, Celestial had tried to reach out to animal organizations to ask for assistance regarding the condition of the dog, but many of them just shook the matter.
According to her post, “While on our way to the sandbar at the rightmost part of the island (facing the beach), we saw this dog walking in the same direction. We noticed something. We got startled having found out that it was a knife (a tribal knife) still stabbed in its rib, dangling as the dog moves. Too bad, we weren’t able to keep an eye on the dog when we reached the sandbar.
On my way back to our tent post, I saw this group of kids who stopped by and called my attention for a “Hi” and “Hello”. The short convo goes, and I told them about this stabbed dog only to realize I was talking to its owner. He just knew about it the moment I told them abt the dog’s condition.

According to this kid(owner), his dog was already shot twice before by an improvised gun, using marbles as its bullets. (Do not misinterpret the kid’s face, he felt too embarrassed when he caught me videoing him)
Wondering if this dog has more lives than a cat. As you can see in the picture, it looks like the dog was used as a dart board, pagpractice-an ba ang aso?!! Why humans?!
**For those who are asking, YES, I did my part. I have asked for help, any help that they can provide for this poor dog. Sadly, they didn’t respond the way I expect them to respond. None of them cared a bit, and none of them asked for more information about this dog. They just shrugged it off then went back to their business. What can I do more? All I can do is to spread the news and ask for anyone’s help to reach anyone who has more power to offer assistance/help. Then, I sent an e-mail to Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) asking for any support they can give. It is not much that I can do, but it is the least that I can do for now. This is not just about posting for the sake of posting. Please help. A little help won’t hurt.
I’m actually hating people right now. They (domestic animals) deserve to be loved and taken cared of.”
Thousands of pet lovers reacted to her post and had spread the news to ask from help from any concerned animal organizations who’s willing to provide treatment for the dog.
Recently, Celestial posted an update and said, “Just an update. Didn’t expect this would reach this far. I’ve been talking to a lot of people already for days now, regarding this poor dog in Cagbalete Island. I’m working with someone from DPWH who’s a member of the B.E.R.T. Berlin Emergency Rescue Team (To Save and Protect Animals), Ms Susan M. Espinosa. We have no contacts from there, and have no other way to find out about the current condition of the dog.
May I request for anyone who’ll be visiting the island to leave me a message or comment to this post if you happen to see the dog or the kid (Randolph), or any contact details that you may have from anyone in the island? Please.. Thank you in advance! Hoping for a positive response!”
Dogs should be cherished and loved no matter what breed it may have. Pets in general, show their loyalty and worth only to someone who’s deserving of their affection.
Last February 11, renowned fashion designer Cary Santiago posted on his Facebook page how he tried to save a dog, which had allegedly suffered from animal cruelty.
In his post, he related how a member of his staff told him that he saw a dog being dragged in front of the house and then thrown into a canal. Santiago immediately asked his staff to go with him to try to pull the dog out.
“I hurried and went to get a towel. I threw the towel towards him and saw tears from his eyes. He helped pull himself up by biting the towel. That’s how intelligent they are even at their lowest times,” Santiago said in his post.
He then rushed the dog to Cebu Veterinary Doctors, but unfortunately, because the animal’s injuries were apparently too massive, the veterinarian could no longer treat them.
“…the doctor said that he can no longer live because of the two wounds he had in his head and in his chest,” Santiago explained. “My heart was in so much pain that euthanasia had to be performed.”
Santiago theorized that the dog was hit by a car and was thrown into the canal so it wouldn’t get in the way of other cars. “…maybe he was hit at first and may have been seen by a passerby who dragged him so as not to be hit by another car and eventually was thrown into the canal,” said Santiago.
Readers of the post praised Santiago for the kind-hearted act, while at the same time, condemned persons who commit acts of animal cruelty.
“It’s so sad to see this act of cruelty to animals!” replied Zelda Danlag. “Thanks for your kind action this pet /dog is not suffering anymore.”
Wella Dyllen, posting from Australia, meanwhile said, “I don’t even know you but I hope you realise what a beautiful human being you are to have tried your best.”
In contrast, netizens had no kind words to spare for those who are cruel to animals.
“I saw this dog cross the street and we slowed down and here comes this crazy driver instead of alowing [sic] down he (im sure he did) intentionally hit the dog,” related Yvonne Salem. “He never stopped till the dog that was stuck under his car was thrown out. I was so shocked i forgot to video it. I fervently wish he would be a dog in his next life ao [sic] he knows.”
About 10,000 rabbits are being mercilessly killed inside a fur factory in China.
Humane Society International (HSI), an animal protection charity, exposed the barbaric acts taking place inside the Chinese factory dubbed as the “House of Horror.” Allegedly, factory workers are being paid four pence (cents) for every rabbit they kill for fur.
After conducting an undercover investigation inside the factory, HSI investigators found thousands of rabbits crammed into tiny cages. The extremely small space doesn’t allow the creatures to perform natural behaviors such as running, jumping, and digging. According to HSI, the pitiful situation causes the rabbits serious psychological damage.
The cruel process of killing and skinning rabbits begins as workers yank on their ears and strike them over the head with the side of a blade. This technique is employed to knock them out before they are killed.
HSI pointed out that some rabbits were observed squirming in pain as they pull up their back legs before their throats are cut.
During the skinning process, the fur around one of the back paws is sliced away. After this, the skin is pulled from their bodies.
“The facility we found in China is a house of horror for thousands of rabbits. As their fur is being sold to the UK and other countries, it’s entirely possible that these terrified rabbits have ended up as fur bobble hats and scarves on sale in UK shops,” said Claire Bass, HSI chief executive.
In 2000, fur farming was banned in the UK, forcing retailers to import furs from other countries including China. However, HSI found no evidence that the factory has supplied rabbit fur to a retailer in the UK.
Because workers in slaughterhouses in China are underpaid and have no health and safety benefits, it is often less expensive to produce real fur items compared to synthetic ones.
Cats and Kittens Rescue PH, an animal welfare group, posted on their Facebook page pictures of cats and dogs allegedly being maltreated, possibly even tortured, by members of the Quezon City LGU (local government unit) tasked to capture stray pets in the area.
According to the group, in an effort to control the spread of rabies as well as prevent animals from urinating and defecating on the streets, stray cats and dogs within Quezon City are normally brought to the pound. If no one comes to claim or adopt them within five days, the animals are then put to sleep.
The pictures were allegedly taken and originally posted by FB user Lourdes Saturre from Batasan Hills. But the welfare group took notice of them since one of the pictures showed a dog with its eyes gouged out. Fearing that this might be a case of animal cruelty, one of the group’s members immediately went to the barangay to try to rescue the impounded animals, only to be told by the Barangay Captain that the animals had already been brought to the city pound in Payatas.
This poses a problem for the group because in order to claim an animal from the city pound, one has to pay an adoption fee of 500 pesos per animal first. The dogs and cats are scheduled to be put to sleep on Friday, September 18, 2015, unless kind-hearted souls are willing to adopt or work with animal welfare groups to save the animals.
Kryndall Garcia, animal rights advocate and inactive member of PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society), opines that the animals were quickly taken to Payatas “…so that they can still earn 500 pesos each dogs and cats unlike if in Batasan, no fees.”
Supposedly, before being put to sleep, the animals also have to suffer the waiting period of five days without being given any food nor water. How the animals are euthanized is also an issue. Another animal rights advocate states that the animals held in Payatas are still being put to sleep via tambucho killing (a process wherein the animals are sealed in a metal box and then exposed to a vehicle’s exhaust fumes) which is illegal. Cats and Kittens Rescue PH, meanwhile, says “mga pusa at aso na hinuhuli at dinadala sa pound minamaltrato na, sinusunog pa ng buhay o inililibing ng buhay.” (Dogs and cats brought to the pound are mistreated, burned alive, or buried alive.) The group further states that taking pictures or videos of animals within the Payatas Pound is strictly prohibited by its administrators.
On the side of the QC LGU, Ms. Garcia was able to speak with Councilor Onyx Crisologo who issued the following statement on the matter: “Hi. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Will inquire about this with the city pound and keep you posted. I personally apologize to the pet owner and rest assured we will not condone this manner of treatment to animals as they should strictly adhere to the animal welfare code passed by the city council, if they do not address this matter as soon as possible there will be consequences.”
