Jimmy Bondoc’s Facebook post on his excitement on the possible closure of the “biggest network” (which he later revealed to be ABS-CBN) has stirred up a lot of emotions from people throughout the industry.

Many expressed their disappointment in Bondoc, especially his careless disregard of the loss of thousands of jobs that such a shutdown would bring about.

If there is a positive side to Bondoc’s actions, it is that the well-known personalities from entertainment and from news and current affairs have broken down the network divide to express their messages of support and of gratitude to ABS-CBN. Kapamilya and Kapuso overlooked their differences to show solidarity and give their support to ABS-CBN.

Writer pens an open letter to Jimmy Bondoc about his rants against ABS-CBN

Writer pens an open letter to Jimmy Bondoc about his rants against ABS-CBN

[mashshare]
  • A writer addressed each of Jimmy Bondoc’s assumptions in the latter’s tirade against ABS-CBN
  • Writer Lolito Go also labeled Bondoc as a traitor

An open letter was written by a Filipino writer named Lolito Go for Jimmy Bondoc on his rants against the ABS-CBN.

In Go’s open letter shared on May 23, he addressed each of Bondoc’s assumptions in the Facebook post expressing his excitement over the possibility of the “biggest network” closing down.

Bondoc said that, “ABS-CBN is a snake pit” to which Go pointed out that Bondoc is himself a snake who works for Malacañang and a traitor who betrayed the Filipino people.

“You yourself are a snake. The fact that you support a regime of traitors makes you a traitor as well”

He also explained why Bondoc was a traitor.

“Need I explain kung bakit kayo traydor? Anomalous deals with China. Mga mangingisdang tinataboy sa sariling teritoryo. Daan-daang libong illegal Chinese migrants na umaagaw ng trabaho sa mga Pinoy. Ang pagpayag ng gobyerno sa pagsira sa coral reefs at pagnakaw sa giant clams na ilang taon ding inalagaan ng mga scientist natin. Kayo ang mga ahas na pumepeste sa likas na yaman ng bayan!”

Second point, Bondoc said that, “Success inside ABS is based on politics and sexual favors.” With this statement, Go said that Bondoc’s position in the government was also based on favors, too. He even mentioned other names who were also appointed for government positions not based on their competency and honesty.

“Hiyang-hiya naman ako sa padrino system ng gobyernong kinabibilangan mo, Jimmy boy. Your position now, I am most certain, depended on political favors too. (I’m not sure about sexual favors though.) Marami kayo, si Ka Freddie, si Arnell Ignacio, si Mocha, si RJ Jacinto, etc. Kaya nga hindi na basehan ang competency at honesty eh. People are being appointed according to their willingness to become a ‘yes man’ and sing praises to your egocentric lord,” he said.

Third, Bondoc also mentioned that “they have contests where winner have been pre-determined, or are manipulated to suits the whims of the hidden bosses.” Go acquiesced that there may be certain contests that are vulnerable to entertainment politics, but it is wrong to generalize that all contests are being manipulated.

“This is also true with other networks. Irevoke na rin nating ang NTC licenses nila?” he said

Fourth, Bondoc stated that, “Their news is for sale, the highest bidder gets the slant.” Go recalled the name of public relations practitioner Nic Gabunada who helped Duterte’s social media propaganda during the national elections in 2016. Go pointed out that despite the issues that the network has faced, it had contributed a lot to the Filipino people.

“Pero kahit pagsama-samahin mo ang mga imperfections ng ABS, it is nothing compared to what it gives to Filipino people. At walang anumang dahilan, kahit gaano kabigat, para ipanalangin mo ang kamatayan ng isang institusyon na naging simbolo na ng pagbangon mula sa abo ng Martial Law,” he said.

Lastly, Bondoc had also mentioned that the network “has countless victims, from sexual harassment to plain and simple bullying” to which Go also agreed. He said that there are sexual predators in ABS-CBN, but such people are everywhere, in offices, factories, and even other networks.

“Blame it on the culture of impunity, blame it on the culture of victim-blaming. Mas malalim na sipat ang kailangan natin dito at hindi selective justice at myopic singling-out-on-the-enemy tactics ng mga sipsip na katulad ni Jimmy boy,” he said.

In the last part of the letter, he stated that Bondoc should have brought his issues to court and file a formal complaint if he has the legal basis to back his accusations.

“Kung may legal weight ang accusations, bring it to the courts. File a formal complaint.”

Netizen strikes back at Jimmy Bondoc for rants against ABS-CBN

  • A netizen questions Jimmy Bondoc for not reacting to Duterte harassing women openly
  • The netizen wanted to point out that before he was appointed to a government position, Bondoc was one of the ABS-CBN artists who followed orders from the heads of the network

After Jimmy Bondoc posted on his Facebook account about his excitement for “biggest network” closing down, celebrities and the public alike have reacted to his rant.

Bondoc had been referring to ABS-CBN whose franchise license is still up for renewal and will expire in 2020. He claimed that there were instances of fraud, sexual harassment, and politicking during his time there as an artist.

One netizen took Bondoc to task for what he denied was schadenfreude.

Though she admits that there are a lot of times she was irritated with  ABS-CBN network, she questioned Bondoc for not reacting to President Rodrigo Duterte harassing women openly.

Duterte has made inappropriate comments about women on several occasions, including rape jokes. “As long as there are many beautiful women, there will be more rape cases,” Duterte said in reaction to Davao’s high number of rape cases.

Bondoc had mentioned that the success of the network was based on politics and sexual favors which made her ask why he kept silent when the government was being corrupt.

In 2016, Bondoc was appointed by the president as the Assitant Vice President for Entertainment for PAGCOR, during which time his music career seemed to become stagnant.

The netizen wanted to point out that before he was appointed to a government position, he was one of the ABS-CBN artists who followed orders from the heads of the network.

Bondoc’s rant has fired up the network’s supporters, Kapamilya celebrities and even the rival channel’s personalities who also posted their reactions on social media.

In an interview about her movie with JM de Guzman, she expressed the reason why she’s thankful to the two networks after she has been asked if she plans to transfer.

She said that even if she’s from GMA Network, the Kapamilya network never treated her like an outsider. “Hindi nila ako tinuturing na parang outsider, they always let me work with their top leading men.”

The actress admitted that she actually hasn’t received any formal offer for her to change networks, but she doesn’t mind as she’s still enjoying living the best of both worlds.

  • Regine Velazquez acknowledged that ABS-CBN is the number one television station in the country.
  • She clarified that the reason for her transfer was not about money, but abut the opportunities.

Regine Velasquez has dubbed ABS-CBN Network as the “number one station” in the country.

In her media conference at the Dolphy Theater, she clarified the real reason why she signed with the Kapamilya network. She said that it’s not because of how much was offered to her, but because of the opportunities to work with talented artists.

“No… you know, at my age and at the stage of my career, we all know, you know, alam nilang lahat ng mga reporters dito na mga kaibigan ko na, hindi naman ako ilusyunadang tao. Alam ko naman kung ano yung lugar ko sa industry.

“Sobra akong touched na touched sa welcome na ibinigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN kasi hindi ko akalain na ganun ako kaimportante, hindi po ako mailusyunadong tao.

“But the reason why I’m here is because hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko pa kayang kumanta, and I want to work with their talented singers.”

She then proceeded to acknowledge ABS-CBN as the number one station.

“Yun talaga yun, na bago man lang matapos yung career ko, masabi kong nakatrabaho ko din ang number one station.”

Regine also revealed that she’s looking forward to working with the network’s biggest singers such as Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Piolo Pascual, Morissette Amon, and Sarah Geronimo.

7 Reasons Why Regine Velasquez Left GMA Network for ABS-CBN

7 Reasons Why Regine Velasquez Left GMA Network for ABS-CBN

[mashshare]
  • Regine Velasquez shared the reasons behind her network transfer.
  • She said that she’s looking forward to grabbing more opportunities and working with Kapamilya artists.

The Asia’s Songbird has recently signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN Network and it got people asking the reasons behind her decision.

In her welcome press conference last Wednesday, October 17, Regine Velasques has revealed some of the details why she decided to transfer networks after being a Kapuso for 20 years.

1. There are not enough leading men in GMA.

In a report made by Pep.ph, Cacai Velasquez, who is the singer’s sister and business manager, revealed that there’s actually a scarcity of potential leading men in GMA Network.

“Kunwari yung pag soap, sinong puwedeng i-partner? Yung ganun ba?

“In terms of project, nali-limit din. You’re limited to the characters also kasi yung leading man, medyo kapos.”

2. Regine’s decision was not because of the talent fee but to explore more opportunities.

Cacai also said that it was not about how much the talent fee is anymore, but because Regine wants to work with other artists and have more opportunities.

“Nothing to do with the TF [talent fee] anymore… eto yung decision niya na nothing to do with the TF anymore. It was a factor before but ang talaga sa kanya is to work with other artists, yun talaga.”

GMA-7 also released a statement saying that they respect the singer’s decision to join her husband in ABS-CBN and pursue other opportunities in another network.

“We understand her decision to join her husband and we wish her well as she pursues other opportunities outside GMA Network.”

3. To work with ABS-CBN’s artists.

With Regine’s ABS-CBN transfer, she is now free to work with some of the network’s biggest stars.

When asked who she’s looking forward to having a project with, she named Piolo Pascual, Aga Muhlach, Morisette Amon, Robin Padilla, and one of her best friends Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

4. Her interest on returning to the big screen.

Regine then told reporters about her excitement about exploring projects like opportunities to star in movies and to work with her husband Ogie Alcasid.

“I’m excited kasi ang Star Cinema nandiyan lang, so, siyempre gagawa rin tayo ng pelikula.”

She also showed interest to be partnered with Jericho Rosales, Sam Milby, and Coco Martin.

5. To collaborate with OPM Icons.

Aside from singers who were also from GMA-7 like Janno Gibbs, Lani Misalucha, and Jaya, Regine is also looking forward to collaborating with Kapamilya singers.

She said that she’s looking forward to working with vocalists in ASAP, especially Sarah Geronimo.

“I’m so excited because I get to work with Sarah. Alam niyo naman kung gaano ko kamahal si Sarah. Plus I get to work with other singers in ‘ASAP.'”

6. ABS-CBN has a lot of mediums for artists like Regine to offer

From print (books, magazines) to records (Star Music) to movies (ABS-CBN Films), teleseryes and many more. ABS-CBN also has a lot of produced shows locally and abroad which will widen her reach as an artist.

7. Wants to experience being with #1 TV Station in the Philippines

Regine wanted to work with ABS-CBN and called the network ‘number one.’

“Yun talaga yun, na bago man lang matapos yung career ko, masabi kong nakatrabaho ko din ang number one station.”
