FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is one of the most-watched television series in the country. While the show is phenomenally popular, it is not without its controversies. The series is all about the life of a policeman and digs deep into corrupt cops.
Chief Oscar Albayalde of the Philippine National Police has criticized the show before, saying that Soliman Cruz’s character, General and PNP Chief Terante, was filled with ambitions of power and uses corruption to get what he wants.
The PNP also warned the show of the “illegal” use of police uniforms and vehicles.
Senator Panfilo Lacson on the other hand said that Terante was not fit enough to be the chief because of how out of shape he was.
Both DILG secretary Eduardo Año and DILG assistant secretary Jonathan Malaya once planned on filing legal actions against the show because they felt that the PNP was getting demoralized.
In November 2018, the PNP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ABS-CBN which gives the network permission to use police uniforms, facilities, and equipment in the production of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Now, the PNP is considering withdrawing their side of the agreement.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is in hot water again for their recent episodes.
The episode showed Bungo, played by Baron Geisler, leading his goons to restrain a policewoman while he sexually assaults her. In another scene, Bungo is also shown raping a second policewoman.
The women were then rescued by Coco Martin.
PNP Deputy Spokesperson PLTCOL Kimberly Molitas said that they are taking the situation seriously and will consider pulling back, as this is not the first time the show has offended the PNP.
“We will talk to the Production Staff of ABS CBN and look at possible violation of our existing Memorandum of Understanding. Depending on the extent of the violation we may warn them or rescind the said MOU.”
The latest episode showed Cardo getting stabbed and shot. Netizens are speculating whether the show will end soon, or if the scene is just another dream sequence.
Ang Probinsyano, on tonight's episode, is still is continuing the scenes containing abuse and rape.

I am puzzled why does MTCRB allow Ang Probinsyano to depict rape, abuse and violence in a time when children are watching. This is too much for a primetime show. Nakakapanindig balahibo.

too many disturbing scenes on ang probinsyano. many of these scenes could be triggering, but instead of reducing rape/abuse scenes, they fckng display it on national tv at a time when kids could be watching.

Angel Locsin has been missing in action from teleseryes since The Legal Wife. And now that she is coming back with The General’s Daughter, she shared the reason why it took her five years to star in a series again.
In the span of a few years, the actress went through a break-up, a spinal injury, and an almost resignation from ABS-CBN.
The reason for her teleserye hiatus was speculated to be one of those occurrences but at the press conference of The General’s Daughter, she shared that it was actually not the case.
So why? Darna.
“Noong gagawin ko po dapat ‘yung ‘Darna,’ mayroon kaming agreement ng ABS na hindi ako tatanggap ng ibang project hangga’t ginagawa po ‘yung ‘Darna.’ Dahil inabot tayo ng lampas limang taon ata ‘yung preparation ng ‘Darna,’ na-delay nang na-delay.”
Star Cinema announced in 2014 that Locsin would play as the Filipino female super hero once again for the film adaptation.
“Though nakakagawa ng ibang guestings, ng pelikula, ‘yung teleserye not allowed.
“May agreement naman po kami sa ganu’n, kasi mahirap at very physical. Pati ‘yung schedule na kailangan doon sa ‘Darna,’ medyo challenge. Natagalan po talaga.”
Though she was absent from teleseryes, she did take on some acting roles, including a two-part episode for Maalaala Mo Kaya, and a guest appearance in La Luna Sangre. She also continued to be a judge in Pilipinas Got Talent.
The actress was also in two non-action films under Star Cinema.
In 2017, she has decided to withdraw from Darna, citing her injury and how the role would require a lot of physical routines.
The General’s Daughter will premiere on Monday, January 21, after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been in the Philippine television for almost four years and it is still one of the most watched shows.
In fact some GMA Network stars from Cain at Abel has admitted that the show starring Coco Martin is difficult to surpass. One of which is Dennis Trillo, who stars in the Kapuso teleserye.
But how long will the series last?
According to a report in Bandera, Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Edrinal stated that it is safe to say that Ang Probinsyano‘s airing will still reach the 2019 midterm elections in May.
There are several characters in the series that are portrayed by personalities who will take part in the upcoming elections.
This means that Lito Lapid, Mark Lapid, Jhong Hilario, and Edu Manzano are not allowed to appear in the series once the election period starts.
It is also said that it is still not sure if they will still return to the said action-drama series after May.
After two weeks of Mystica‘s appeal and calling the attention of comedian and television personality, Michael V., has clarified that he does not have the power on who to accept as a member of sitcom, Bubble Gang.
On Sunday, December 2, he tweeted a message, addressing Mystica’s request.
He stated that as much as he want to make other people a part of his shows such as Pepito Manaloto and Bubble Gang, the final decision still lies with the Kapuso network.
The comedian made the statement after almost two weeks of being silent.
In a series of Facebook posts, Mystica has requested the help of Michael V. to make her a mainstay in the gag show.
She wept while sharing her feelings in her videos. The 90s singer said that she thought that Coco Martin would be the key to her comeback in showbiz but the latter was accused of disowning her by killing her character off in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
“Nananawagan po ako kay Michael V. Sana po ampunin niyo na ako. Akala ko kasi aampunin na ako ni Coco Martin pero tinakwil po ako. Hindi lang po ako tinakwil, pinapatay pa ako. Ikaw na lang po ang pag-asa ko para masabi kong may nagmamahal sa akin.”
After the comedian’s, she is now asking actor Dingdong Dantes for help to get her a part in Cain at Abel.
Adding to her latest appeal, she stated that she will never stop asking for help for those who can guide her.
Mystica (known as Ruby Villianueva in real life) has sought the help of rapper-comedian-actor Michael V. to give her a chance in showbiz. This was also the way she appealed to Coco Martin to be a part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Via a Facebook live, she stated her disappointment when her character, Rosa, got killed in the action-drama series. She is now requesting Michael V. to have her as a part of GMA Network weekly gag show, Bubble Gang.
Netizens have expressed their reactions after Mystica has voiced out her request. A certain Duane Lao called her “bastos” and described her as a “primadonna”.
Girlllll wag ganun. Tsala ung pinirito mong manok sa video kinainan mo tapos binalik mo sa paninda mo. Pota. Ang baboy!
Other netizens told her to be thankful that she even had the chance, instead of complaining about the lack of or short in exposure.
Anthony Sulayao Mabulac said that it’s because of Mystica’s rude behavior that led her to have only appear in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for a short stint.
Masama daw kasi ugali ni Mystica.. Kaya tinapos agad character nya
Midge Banua Villarama then implied that she has no sense of gratitude and Coco Martin owed her nothing.
Another username then urged Michael V to think about it as no one knew the real reason why she’s not in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano anymore.
Naku michael v.
Kate Gamara – Bribon said that it was all due to Mystica’s over-the-top acting.
Oa kasi umarte ni aling rosa. Kya pinatay kagad. Hahaha.
Neither Michael V. or FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano have commented regarding Mystica‘s statements.

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is undeniably a monster when it comes to ratings as it has maintained the top spot of its timeslot.
It is consistent with its ranking, but last week, the show has dropped several points off their average ratings. So why is that?
The series has been in the hot seat recently after the Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde has voiced out his concern regarding the image of the national police that is portrayed in the show.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año has also spoken up about the issue, saying that they have no problem with the drama’s plot, however, they have concerns over the usage of official logos and uniforms of the PNP as it can be a possible violation to the Revised Penal Code.
One possible reason might also be the PBA games of Brgy. Ginebra.
On November 12, November 14, and November 16, which is when the team competed against Magnolia, Ang Probinsyano and Ngayon at Kailanman has dropped a few points off their ratings. The Friday rating of Ang Probinsyano is their lowest in the season so far.
But during November 13 and 15, when the live telecast of a game between Alaska and Meralco was airing, the shows’ ratings were back to normal.
As Ginebra is already out of the PBA Finals, this week is the perfect time to analyze “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s” ratings. It is also a common knowledge that whenever the team has a game, the ratings of other television networks, especially ABS-CBN, gets affected.
After initially considering taking legal actions against FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for “their grossly unfair and inaccurate portrayal of our police force”, The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) stated that it will now support the show after a “fruitful dialogue” with the people behind the program.
In a joint statement released on Thursday, November 22, both the Kapamilya network and DILG said that they were able to resolve the issue and share the sentiments of both sides.
“The DILG, including its attached agency the Philippine National Police, will continue to support ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ as it continues to inspire Filipinos with the valuable lesson that in the end, good will always triumph over evil.”
It also said that the Philippine National Police (PNP) acknowledged the importance of respect of the policemen while recognizing the show’s freedom to create and convey its story.
According to DILG Secretary Jonathan Malaya, there was no mention of any changes in the plot of the series.
“Walang sinabi ang ABS-CBN na, ‘Sige, babaguhin namin ang kuwento.’ Ipinaliwanag lang ng side ng DILG at PNP ‘yong concern namin, at pinaliwanag din naman nila na wala silang intensiyong dungisan ang imahe ng kapulisan.”
Producers of the show is still scheduled to meet with the PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.
The Department Of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the producers of FPJ’S Ang Probinsyano released a statement last Sunday.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said that the Kapamilya network has reached out to them regarding the portrayal of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the show as “bad cops”.
The DILG said that they acknowledge the explanation of ABS-CBN that the characters are just fictional and does not reflect real people and events.
They added that the agency has no plans on ordering the writers on how to go with the story and they have no plans on stopping the action-drama series’s airing.
They also don’t see the DILG or PNP as antagonists.
On the other hand, one of the main concerns of the agency is the usage of official logos, insignias, and uniforms, which is a possible violation of the Revised Penal Code.
DILG is hoping to have a “meeting of the minds” wherein they’ll have a constructive conversation with ABS-CBN to talk about their concerns.

It was recently revealed that FPJ’s Ang Probisyano Director Toto Natividad will be a guest director for GMA Network‘s upcoming action-drama primetime series Cain at Abel starring Dennis Trillo and Dingdong Dantes.
When asked about how he felt, Trillo answered that it was ironic and surprising.
“Well, napaka-ironic, pero ganoon talaga ang buhay. Minsan, gugulatin ka na lang.”
Although unexpected, the actor said that he’s still glad that the director will take part of their project.
“Pero natutuwa ako na napunta siya dito sa programang ito [Cain at Abel] dahil alam ko nga, talagang marami siyang maio-offer at nakita ko po yun nung makatrabaho ko na siya.”
The series will air starting November 19, replacing Alden Richard‘s Victor Magtanggol and Trillo expressed that they do feel the pressure because of their competitor from the Kapamilya network, however they continued to try their best to prepare for what’s coming.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde expressed his disappointment on the portrayal of PNP in the said series.
The Director General said that the show has been showing the police in an unfair and inaccurate light. He added that he will write to the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Kapamilya network to share his complaints.
The part that he seemed to dislike the most is how the show portrayed the PNP chief’s character and how it tried to assassinate the drama’s president played by Rowell Santiago.
“That kind of portrayal is not fair to the PNP. The chief of the PNP himself is a villain — I don’t think that ever happened to us. In reality, well, that can never happen.
“It’s very disturbing and it shows to people that justice can be taken in one’s hands and it’s okay. It’s not. We are a nation of laws not of men.”
The company’s Integrated Corporate Communications head Kane Errol Choa released a statement saying that they have no intention to spread false light in the organization’s image.
Coco Martin reacts.
Ang Probinsyano’s lead star Coco Martin took his reaction to Instagram and posted a screenshot of the show’s disclaimer saying that the characters and incidents in the show is purely fictional.
He captioned it off with “Pasensya na po!”
