FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is one of the most-watched television series in the country. While the show is phenomenally popular, it is not without its controversies. The series is all about the life of a policeman and digs deep into corrupt cops.
Chief Oscar Albayalde of the Philippine National Police has criticized the show before, saying that Soliman Cruz’s character, General and PNP Chief Terante, was filled with ambitions of power and uses corruption to get what he wants.
The PNP also warned the show of the “illegal” use of police uniforms and vehicles.
Senator Panfilo Lacson on the other hand said that Terante was not fit enough to be the chief because of how out of shape he was.
Both DILG secretary Eduardo Año and DILG assistant secretary Jonathan Malaya once planned on filing legal actions against the show because they felt that the PNP was getting demoralized.
In November 2018, the PNP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ABS-CBN which gives the network permission to use police uniforms, facilities, and equipment in the production of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Now, the PNP is considering withdrawing their side of the agreement.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is in hot water again for their recent episodes.
The episode showed Bungo, played by Baron Geisler, leading his goons to restrain a policewoman while he sexually assaults her. In another scene, Bungo is also shown raping a second policewoman.
The women were then rescued by Coco Martin.
PNP Deputy Spokesperson PLTCOL Kimberly Molitas said that they are taking the situation seriously and will consider pulling back, as this is not the first time the show has offended the PNP.
“We will talk to the Production Staff of ABS CBN and look at possible violation of our existing Memorandum of Understanding. Depending on the extent of the violation we may warn them or rescind the said MOU.”
The latest episode showed Cardo getting stabbed and shot. Netizens are speculating whether the show will end soon, or if the scene is just another dream sequence.
Ang Probinsyano, on tonight's episode, is still is continuing the scenes containing abuse and rape.

I am puzzled why does MTCRB allow Ang Probinsyano to depict rape, abuse and violence in a time when children are watching. This is too much for a primetime show. Nakakapanindig balahibo.

Pinalipat ko channel. I hate rape scene in movies or TV shows. I just fucking hate it. It's so awful. Wag niyo na yang ulitin #AngProbinsyano !!!!

— kassey misses legends 🏳️🌈 (@felicityssiren) July 9, 2019
too many disturbing scenes on ang probinsyano. many of these scenes could be triggering, but instead of reducing rape/abuse scenes, they fckng display it on national tv at a time when kids could be watching.

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been in the Philippine television for almost four years and it is still one of the most watched shows.
In fact some GMA Network stars from Cain at Abel has admitted that the show starring Coco Martin is difficult to surpass. One of which is Dennis Trillo, who stars in the Kapuso teleserye.
But how long will the series last?
According to a report in Bandera, Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Edrinal stated that it is safe to say that Ang Probinsyano‘s airing will still reach the 2019 midterm elections in May.
There are several characters in the series that are portrayed by personalities who will take part in the upcoming elections.
This means that Lito Lapid, Mark Lapid, Jhong Hilario, and Edu Manzano are not allowed to appear in the series once the election period starts.
It is also said that it is still not sure if they will still return to the said action-drama series after May.
Brillante Mendoza‘s film, Kinatay, that earned him the best director trophy at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival in 2009 was noticed by a lot of well-known personalities.
This time, it was tweeted by award-winning Brazilian author Paolo Coelho.
In his caption, he described the film as one of the “most disturbing movies” he watched this year.
— Paulo Coelho ☮️ (@paulocoelho) October 6, 2018
He also complimented the director himself, screenplay, and the actors.
One of the most disturbing movies I watched in 2018 – great screenplay, director, actors. A Filipino movie that, if it was directed by Tarantino, would be shortlisted for the Oscar. pic.twitter.com/78hdk5SoCH
— Paulo Coelho ☮️ (@paulocoelho) December 27, 2018
Coelho added that if it was directed by American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, it would’ve been shortlisted for an Oscar.
Mendoza replied to the tweet and said that Tarantino actually wrote him a letter and congratulated him when he won the Cannes award.
Oh and btw, Quintin Tarantino wrote me a letter congratulating me after I won the best director award in #cannesfilmfest
— Brillante Mendoza (@brillante_ma) December 28, 2018
Kinatay was about a criminology student, played by Coco Martin. He joined a syndicate to earn a living for his family.
The film was shown in the 2009 Cinemalaya Film Festival and has also premiered at the Cannes the same year Mendoza won the Best Director Award.
Coelho wrote famous books such as The Alchemist, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, Brida, and Veronika Decides to Die.

The fans of Coco Martin have noticed that Maine Mendoza failed to mention the actor’s name while they’re promoting their upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2018 entry, Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles on Sunday Pinasaya.
Netizens have expressed their disappointments via Twitter, calling the production “bitter” for not even acknowledging Martin as one of the lead cast members.
According to a report by Pep.ph, an isider has confirmed that the artists were not allowed to say the actor’s name on Sunday Pinasaya as Mendoza and Vic Sotto‘s names were also not mentioned every time the movie is promoted via ABS-CBN.
But Martin has no hard feelings and even said that he actually wished to go to Eat Bulaga! as a guest.
“Actually, wala naman pong problema yun kasi ngayon, sabi ko nga, wala nang rival.
“Ang paggawa ng pelikula, lalo na ngayong Kapaskuhan, ginagawa po natin ito para mapaligaya yung mga Pilipino, hindi po para maglaban-laban kung sino yung magiging number one.”
He added that their only goal is to bring happiness to those who will watch the film come December 25 and onwards.
In a recent Instagram post by entertainment personality Lolit Solis, defended GMA Network, expressing her thoughts about the assumptions of Netizens that Coco Martin is banned from being mentioned in any Kapuso shows.
She said that she doesn’t believe that the network is that petty to actually prohibit the stars from saying the actor’s name and maybe Maine Mendoza just had a “moment” and forgot to mention her other co-star in the movie Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles.

#lolitkulit #instatalk #71naako @mr.cocomartin
Martin then replied to the post, saying that he understood and he has high respect toward GMA Network especially that it’s the Network that first opened its doors for him.
“Napakabait po nila sakin kaya wla pong problema sakin yon at kahit kaylan hindi ako mag tatampo sa kanila.”
He added that he’s also grateful for having the chance to work with Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza.
Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles will be out on December 25 as an entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival.
After asking Coco Martin, Michael V, and Dingdong Dantes for help regarding her intention of having a comeback in showbiz, Mystica (also known as Ruby Villanueva) seemed to have failed to convince the two other male personalities to help her; now she turned to the Tulfo brothers for help.
As her drama did not work with Michael V and Dantes, she held a 40-minute facebook live to call the attention of the brothers.
“Sir Raffy. Lahat po ng Tulfo bothers,” Mystica said while weeping. “At kung sino-sino pong lawyers na tumutulong sa mga biktimang katulad ko, cyber-bullying, libel, hindi ko na po kaya.”
The former singer clarified that she did nothing wrong and she’s just using social media to ask for help to have her television career back.
She also addressed her past controversy wherein she cursed President Rodrigo Duterte in a video.
“Matagal po akong tumahimik. Matagal na po akong nag-sorry dahil sa isang pagkakamali ko at nag-mura ko nun dahil sa pangyayaring pinatay ang tatay ko nung kapanahunan ng martial law. Ibinuhos ko lang naman po ang feeling ng isang anak…”
Mystica shouted that she has suffered so much because of people making fun of her, but is still hoping that someday, others will take pity on her and help her get back on track.
“At bakit niyo ipagkait sakin yun? Milyones na panglalait sa pagkatao ko. Tiniis ko lahat yun. At pinakita ko na lumalaban ako dahil ito ay karapatan ko.
Pero ano ginawa niyo? Dinurog niyo yung kakapiranggot na karapatan ko. Pinag-laruan niyo ako. Binaboy niyo ang pagkatao ko. Niloko niyo ako.”

She then demanded justice from those who deceived her in the past.
After two weeks of Mystica‘s appeal and calling the attention of comedian and television personality, Michael V., has clarified that he does not have the power on who to accept as a member of sitcom, Bubble Gang.
On Sunday, December 2, he tweeted a message, addressing Mystica’s request.
He stated that as much as he want to make other people a part of his shows such as Pepito Manaloto and Bubble Gang, the final decision still lies with the Kapuso network.
The comedian made the statement after almost two weeks of being silent.
In a series of Facebook posts, Mystica has requested the help of Michael V. to make her a mainstay in the gag show.
She wept while sharing her feelings in her videos. The 90s singer said that she thought that Coco Martin would be the key to her comeback in showbiz but the latter was accused of disowning her by killing her character off in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
“Nananawagan po ako kay Michael V. Sana po ampunin niyo na ako. Akala ko kasi aampunin na ako ni Coco Martin pero tinakwil po ako. Hindi lang po ako tinakwil, pinapatay pa ako. Ikaw na lang po ang pag-asa ko para masabi kong may nagmamahal sa akin.”
After the comedian’s, she is now asking actor Dingdong Dantes for help to get her a part in Cain at Abel.
Adding to her latest appeal, she stated that she will never stop asking for help for those who can guide her.
Mystica (known as Ruby Villianueva in real life) has sought the help of rapper-comedian-actor Michael V. to give her a chance in showbiz. This was also the way she appealed to Coco Martin to be a part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Via a Facebook live, she stated her disappointment when her character, Rosa, got killed in the action-drama series. She is now requesting Michael V. to have her as a part of GMA Network weekly gag show, Bubble Gang.
Netizens have expressed their reactions after Mystica has voiced out her request. A certain Duane Lao called her “bastos” and described her as a “primadonna”.
Girlllll wag ganun. Tsala ung pinirito mong manok sa video kinainan mo tapos binalik mo sa paninda mo. Pota. Ang baboy!
Other netizens told her to be thankful that she even had the chance, instead of complaining about the lack of or short in exposure.
Anthony Sulayao Mabulac said that it’s because of Mystica’s rude behavior that led her to have only appear in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for a short stint.
Masama daw kasi ugali ni Mystica.. Kaya tinapos agad character nya
Midge Banua Villarama then implied that she has no sense of gratitude and Coco Martin owed her nothing.
Another username then urged Michael V to think about it as no one knew the real reason why she’s not in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano anymore.
Naku michael v.
Kate Gamara – Bribon said that it was all due to Mystica’s over-the-top acting.
Oa kasi umarte ni aling rosa. Kya pinatay kagad. Hahaha.
Neither Michael V. or FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano have commented regarding Mystica‘s statements.

The internet went crazy when ABS-CBN‘s 2018 Christmas station ID “Family is Love” on Sunday, November 18, during ASAP Natin To.
There has been hundreds of stars seen in the video, which included, Vice Ganda, Coco Martin, Sarah Geronimo, Gary Valenciano, Piolo Pascual, and Regine Velasquez. Loveteams KathNiel, LizQuen, JaDine, JoshLia, and MayWard were also present in the video.
But as it seemed like every Kapamilya star has participated in the Station ID, there are still notable stars who were not sighted in the video.
Janno openly expressed his disappointment on Instagram. In his now-deleted post, he told everyone not to look for him at the Station ID because he was not even given the chance to participate.
“Throwback to Sept. 12 this year when I signed with @starmusic.ph. Naalala ko lang. Sila yata di ako naalala e.”
He also replied to one comment saying that maybe it’s because he’s not signed on a network contract, but as far as he knows, as long as you’re a recording artist, you’ll be included on the station ID.
When another netizen suggested for him to return to GMA-7, however, he told that the Kapuso network isn’t giving him any projects.
The Megastar was also not included in the Station ID. She is currently filming for her movie with Kathryn Bernardo and Richard Gomez, directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Julia, who is filming for Doctors to the Barrio alongside Kean Cipriano, was also not sighted in the music video.
The Exes Baggage star was also absent.
Alessandra De Rossi
Alessandra was also not in the station ID. Her movie ‘Through Night and Day‘ is currently showing in cinemas.
DonKiss fans fans have noticed the absence of the loveteam’s other half Kisses.
Judy Ann Santos
Like the artists listed above, Judy Ann did not participate in this year’s ABS-CBN Station ID.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde expressed his disappointment on the portrayal of PNP in the said series.
The Director General said that the show has been showing the police in an unfair and inaccurate light. He added that he will write to the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and the Kapamilya network to share his complaints.
The part that he seemed to dislike the most is how the show portrayed the PNP chief’s character and how it tried to assassinate the drama’s president played by Rowell Santiago.
“That kind of portrayal is not fair to the PNP. The chief of the PNP himself is a villain — I don’t think that ever happened to us. In reality, well, that can never happen.
“It’s very disturbing and it shows to people that justice can be taken in one’s hands and it’s okay. It’s not. We are a nation of laws not of men.”
The company’s Integrated Corporate Communications head Kane Errol Choa released a statement saying that they have no intention to spread false light in the organization’s image.
Coco Martin reacts.
Ang Probinsyano’s lead star Coco Martin took his reaction to Instagram and posted a screenshot of the show’s disclaimer saying that the characters and incidents in the show is purely fictional.
He captioned it off with “Pasensya na po!”
