Celebrities have increasingly utilized twitter as a tool to connect with their fans and promote their latest projects, especially during the pandemic. As many audiences shifted from traditional TV to streaming platforms to get a fill of various entertainment content, social media also experienced a boom in usage and traffic.

As one of the leading social media platforms on the Internet, Twitter is preferred by most celebrities to connect with fans. In the Philippines, a number of the most popular female stars are also the ones with the biggest twitter following.

In the Philippines, 10 female celebrities bested hundreds of other celebrities in show business with a huge following.

The following list only includes Philippine-based celebrities or those whose showbiz-related work is in the Philippines.

Liza Soberano.

Soberano maintains a very strong presence on many social media platforms. She is the second most followed on Instagram and is among the most followed on facebook, too. On Twitter, she has more than 4 million followers. The Trese star is yet to return to local television.

Zeinab Harake.

Zeinab’s strong online presence is well-reflected by her millions of followers across several social media platforms. She is among the most followed Filipino influencers on TikTok and YouTube. Twitter is no exception as she has more than 4 million faithful followers keeping tabs on what she posts.

Julia Montes.

The only non-actor on this list, Harake is more popularly known on social media platforms, YouTube and TikTok. She is currently among the most followed social media celebrities  in the country.

Alex Gonzaga.

Gonzaga is a popular vlogger whose videos on YouTube garner millions of views after just a few hours of uploading. She is also a television star and currently hosts TV5’s noontime show, Lunch Out Loud

She is the younger sister of popular multimedia actress, Toni Gonzaga.

KC Concepcion.

KC Concepcion is undoubtedly the most popular among The Megastar’s daughters. She is a popular commercial model. She previously appeared on TV dramas and starred in blockbuster movies.

Maine Mendoza.

The other half of the phenomenal love team, AlDub, Maine Mendoza is a popular social media and television personality. 

She is currently among the mainstay hosts of the top-rating noontime show, Eat Bulaga!. She also appears on a weekly sitcom.

Yeng Constantino.

The only Pop Rock Royalty. Constantino is probably one of the most successful talent show winners in the Philippines.

She’s the first Pinoy Dream Academy winner is one of the top-selling artists of her time, with multiple top-charting singles in her nearly 15 years as a recording artist.

Kathryn Bernardo.

Bernado is her generation’s biggest movie star, having starred in the only two local films yo gross more than Php800 million at the box office. Also, television and endorsement titan, she maintains a strong presence on multiple social media platforms, making her a true multimedia royalty.

Angel Locsin.

One of her generation’s most awarded actresses, Locsin has established fame in both television and movies. She is a social media behemoth, too. On Twitter, nearly 13 million fans are following her on her account. She uses the platform to post updates about her projects, random personal stuff, and many advocacies and charitable works.

Anne Curtis.

Anne Curtis holds the distinction of being the first Filipino celebrity to have at least 14 million followers on Twitter. A box office and TV royalty, Curtis is set to resume working after a nearly two-year hiatus. Through twitter, Curtis can share and promote her showbiz engagements, and even her campaigns as a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador.
