Netizens and Kapamilya supporters expressed their admiration for ABS-CBN Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak for his behavior during heated arguments in Congress on the network’s franchise hearings.

Katigbak remained calm and professional amidst the fierce interpellation during house hearings.

Dr. Tony Leachon said that he admires Katigbak for giving respect to all people including those who do not even deserve it.

“It’s easy to give respect to people worthy of it, but how about giving respect to those who don’t quite measure up!” Dr. Leachon said.

“To give respect to all and not just those you like is the true meaning of giving respect,” he added.

Former Senator JV Ejercito also said that he is proud of his Xavier School batchmate and vouches for Katigbak’s character. However, he is downhearted because the latter took on the network’s shortcomings.

“I may never be one of the favorites of ABS-CBN, but I am very proud of my Xavier batchmate Carlo Katigbak for having the poise and composure in facing the very tough hearings,” Ejercito said.

“Tweeted about Carlo Katigbak because that’s the way I know him. Growing up and learning together since nursery to high school, I can vouch for his integrity and character. Sad to say, he inherited probably the past shortcomings or faults of former executives of ABS.” he added.

ABS-CBN employees and supporters also expressed their respect for Katigbak.

During the hearing on July 6, Katigbak humbly accepted that they have flaws and imperfections as a network. He then pleaded to Congress to give them a chance to fix all of those.

“In the last 11 hearings, napakinggan namin ang lahat ng sa tingin ng Kongreso ang mga pagkukulang ng ABS-CBN… Hindi rin kami arogante na hindi nakikinig sa mga sinasabi ninyo. Alam po namin na maraming kailangan ayusin, ireform sa ABS-CBN,” Katigbak said.

[In the last 11 hearings, we heard the views of the Congress regarding our shortcomings. We are hearing your opinions, we are not arrogant. We know that there are things to be fixed, to be reformed in ABS-CBN]

Carlo Joaquin Tadeo L. Katigbak assumed office on January 1, 2016, as the ABS-CBN CEO.

Initially, he served as the managing director of ABS-CBN interactive. Through this role, he helped the network enter the world of the online and mobile business, shifting media into the new digital age.

Prior to this, he also held a position as Head of Access and managed the operations of Sky Cable.

He finished high school in Xavier School and earned his degree in Management Engineering at the Ateneo de Manila University.
