Julia Baretto and Joshua Garcia are in the middle of promoting their new movie, Block Z, together. Both have previously stated that they have decided to remain friends but after a few months, Barretto made headlines when she unfollowed Garcia on Instagram by the end of 2019. But this did not stop the two as they continue to make appearances together.
At a press conference on Wednesday, January 29, Barretto stated that they’re still thankful for their fans’ loyalty and support.
“Well, first we are very grateful because ‘yung fans namin have stayed, have remained and have never really lost hope in our partnership. I don’t see any reason why dapat sila mawalan ng hope.”
But even though they have nothing but hope for their partnership, Barretto added that there are no projects lined up for JoshLia yet. In fact, they’ll be doing individual projects for now.
“One day, when we have our reunion project, we are more ready. We are more mature. We are more educated in a lot of things. I think that’s a perfect time – when we’ve grown. We have a lot of growing to do,” she said.
Joshua on Julia’s “no closure is closure”
In his recent guest appearance on Tonight With Boy Abunda, the actor admitted that he doesn’t agree with his former girlfriend’s statement about “not having any closure is closure.”
“Importante sa relasyon ‘yung closure kasi [doon] maiintindihan nung isa’t isa na ‘yun na ‘yun, doon na ‘yung end,” he said.
“Nag-uusap. Dapat may malinaw kayong usapan, kasi, para pagdating ng panahon, walang sisihan na mangyari. Halimbawa, magkabiruan na… kasi normal ‘yun sa magbabarkada na magkasama sama kayo, magkabiruan na, ‘Ito nang-iwan, eh.’ Alam mo ‘yung mga ganon na joke? Para alam namin sa isa’t isa na walang may kasalanan, may ganyan.”
He added that for him, it’s a form of disrespect because, at some point in their lives, they both loved each other.
In June 2019, the former couple announced their breakup. Julia was then linked to her Between Maybes co-star Gerald Anderson, who was accused of cheating on his then-girlfriend Bea Alonzo. However, Julia denied that she’s in a romantic relationship with Gerald.
With this, Julia also clarified that she did not cheat on Joshua and they broke up months before the issue.
