It’s normal in the Philippines for fans to get really invested in celebrity tandems and pairings—experiencing romantic relationships like an out-of-body experience through the loveteams they follow and the lives these people lead on and off the screens.
And so, when reality drives a wedge between these beloved couples, ‘third-wheel’ fans also feel the sadness and regret over the breakup, with no exceptions.
Due to Maine Mendoza’s recent confirmation of her relationship with actor Arjo Atayde, many believe this is the end of the AlDub affair that sprouted from the Kalyeserye segment of noontime show Eat Bulaga! — a loveteam that captured the nation’s interest for three years, and which opened various doors for Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards in the entertainment industry.
But looking over the country’s television history, AlDub is not the first nor the only loveteam that met a sad end:

The two were featured in rom-coms like Waray-Waray, Turista, Handang Matodas, and Anak ni Waray vs Anak ni Biday, among others.
The two married non-celebrity partners in the end.
Gloria Romero & Luis Gonzales
In the same vein as our first couple in the list, Sampaguita Pictures in the ‘50s popularized the tandem of Gloria and Luis. Both of them have Spanish features that were seen as ideal back then; the reason why their combination also paid off on big screen hits such as Ikaw Ang Aking Buhay, Iginuhit Ng Tadhana, Pagdating Ng Takipsilim, Pinagbuklod Ng Langit, Sa Libis Ng Nayon, Artista, Sabado Ng Gabi… Linggo Ng Umaga, For You Mama, Huwag Kang Sumingit, and Sinisinta Kita.
Gloria later married actor Juancho Gutierrez while Luis wedded Vina Concepcion.
Nora Aunor & Tirso Cruz III
It was in the 60s that Nora and Tirso’s tandem rose to fame and was famously known as Guy and Pip. Her morena looks and his mestizo features complemented so well that their films became blockbuster hits like Young Love, Young Girl, D’Musical Teenage Idols, And God Smiled At Me, Fiesta Extravaganza, My Blue Hawaii, Winter Wonderland, Guy & Pip, and Always In My Heart.
They paired up again in the ‘80s with Till We Meet Again, Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang, I Can’t Stop Loving You, Sana Mahalin Mo Ako, Inay, and Bilangan Ang Bituin Sa Langit.
Nora married Christopher de Leon while Tirso married Lyn Enchausti.
Vilma Santos & Edgar Mortiz
Branded the rival loveteam of Guy & Pip was the tandem of Vilma and Edgar, also known as Vi & Bot. Their films were blockbuster hits as well like Edgar Loves Vilma, Renee Rose, Sixteen, Ang Batang Bangketa, Kampanerang Kuba, Leron-Leron Sinta, Love Letters, Dama de Noche, The Sensations, Baby Vi, The Wonderful World of Music, Angelica, and Eternally.
Vilma wedded Edu Manzano, got divorced and found love again with politician Ralph Recto. Edgar, on the other hand, married Millet Santos.
Maricel Soriano & William Martinez
Maricel and William’s loveteam was dubbed as Taray & Kulit, when they were paired by Regal Films back in the ‘80s. Their films were instant box-office hits with titles like Oh My Mama, Mother Dear, To Mama With Love, The Story of Three Loves, Galawgaw, Pabling, Boys Town, Parang Kailan Lang, Summer Love, Teenage Marriage, I Love You… I Hate You, Daddy’s Little Darlings, Stupid Cupid, Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang, When I Fall In Love, The Graduates, Inday Bote, Maria Went To Town at Kung Ayaw Mo… Huwag Mo.
William married Yayo Aguila but got separated in the end. Maricel married Edu Manzano but divorced him later on.

One of the hottest loveteams of the ‘80s was that of Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs’ pairing, as the duo’s chemistry shone once they began singong duets in the now-defunct program That’s Entertainment. Regal Films signed them and were featured on films such as Petrang Kabayo At Ang Pilyang Kuting, Feel Na Feel, Magic To Love, Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang, and several others.
Janno got married to Bing Loyzaga while Aljon Jimenez wedded Manilyn.
Sheryl Cruz & Romnick Sarmenta
Seiko Films, on the other hand, developed the Sheryl and Romnick pairing. Just like the previous pair, their loveteam started in That’s Entertainment, too. They also starred in hit movies like Everlasting Love, Puso Sa Puso, Pardina at ang mga Duwende.
Sheryl married a non-showbiz guy while Romnick married Harlene Bautista. And yet, the aforementioned loveteam got separated with their real-life spouses in the end.
Judy Ann Santos & Wowie De Guzman
It was in the ‘90s that Judy Ann Santos and Wowie de Guzman’s tandem rose to fame when the afternoon drama series Mara Clara started. Their chemistry translated into hit movies such as Sana Naman, Kung Alam Mo Lang, Wow Multo, and Mara Clara: The Movie.
Juday married actor-TV host Ryan Agoncillo while Wowie wedded a non-showbiz woman who sadly passed away in 2014.
Angelu De Leon & Bobby Andrews
Viva Films produced the tandem of Angelu and Bobby in the ‘90s youth-oriented series, TGIS. Because of their good chemistry, the film production company let them star in several hit movies, occasionally being featured in television dramas too.
Their loveteam ended when Angelu was found pregnant with Joko Diaz’s child. She later married Wowie Rivera. Bobby, on the other hand, married a non-showbiz girlfriend.
Jolina Magdangal & Marvin Agustin
Jolina and Marvin’s loveteam started back in the ‘90s teen series Gimik and due to their splendid rapport, they were featured in the film F.L.A.M.E.S.: The Movie. This was followed by Kung Ayaw Mo Huwag Mo, Labs Kita Okey Ka Lang?, Hey Babe, and Gimik: The Reunion.
Jolens wedded Mark Escueta in the end, and Marvin stayed single.
Bea Alonzo & John Lloyd Cruz
The unexpected but surprising Bea and John Lloyd tandem in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, back in 2002, led the two to be paired off in My First Romance, which landed them as the highly sought-after loveteam in the history of Philippine cinema due to their box-office hits.
John Lloyd started a family with partner Ellen Adarna. Bea is currently in a relationship with Gerald Anderson.

Kapamilya noontime show mainstays Vice Ganda and “Kuya Escort” Ion Perez have been the subject of “rumored relationship” in past gossip columns, but now the rumor seems to be true after netizens posted stories on social media that the two allegedly admitted to being a couple during a taping session for ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’ (GGV).
Photos of them hugging each other circulated online, and netizen JS Espejon Sanchez said that the pictures were taken during the March 12 GGV taping. He then proceeded to explain what happened on the set.
According to the Sanchez, Charo Santos and Bea Alonzo were the guests on GGV to promote their upcoming movie Eerie. The two wanted to do a prank on Vice where Ion and Jacky were dressed as nuns.
After the prank, Bea asked Kuya Escort what the real score is between him and the comedian-host. Charo Santos also had a follow-up question, and that was when Perez finally revealed that heand Vice are already couple.
“Totoo man o hindi ang mga bali-balita, abangan n’yo nalang po para malaman ang katotohanan ♥ ^O^,” cryptically posted Perez recently on his Twitter account.

The viral tweet of Vice Ganda saying: “Please allow me to be happy. Siguro deserve ko din naman magmalaki at ipagmalaki ng taong mahal ko at mahal ako. 😍😍😍 I love you daddiii ❤️ #inarelatIONship” is apparently just made by a fan and was not posted to Vice’s Twitter account.

In a previous report, the two were spotted together in an event sharing an intimate moment which was caught on cam and Jhong Hilario, their co-host, even showed proof.
The rumor was fueled further when Ion called Vice “Lab” on ‘It’s Showtime’s’ live program last month.

Despite a number of film festivals, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo‘s The Hows of Us topped the highest grossing film in 2018.
In fact, It was the only Filipino movie that has reached the eight hundred million mark in the Philippine box-office which beaten the previous holder of the top spot, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo‘s A Second Chance.
The movie also held premieres in Indonesia and Vietnam. It was Star Cinema‘s first time to do so in Jakarta.
KathNiel were not just rocking the box-office but the world of fashion as well. They were the cover of METRO Magazine‘s August 2018 issue.
They have been part of ABS-CBN’s line of representatives in the Thailand Network Trade Launch, which is the country’s largest media event. They attended the trade show with Maja Salvador and Jericho Rosales.

Actor Aga Muhlach called out Senator Antonio Trillanes III in his recent guesting in ABS-CBN’s Gandang Gabi Vice.
In the segment Tanong Mo Mukha Mo, the senator’s face appeared on screen. At first Muhlach was hesitant to say something, but a few moments later, he urged the politician to help the administration instead of criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Nakakapagod na, Ano ba gusto mo mangyari, Parang nag eenjoy ka nalang jan, Tumulong ka nalang”.
He also said that Trillanes always makes an issue about whoever the president is even if the latter is just doing his job.
“Kahit sinong presidente nalang umuupo sinisiraan. Ito ginagawa naman ng presidente natin yung ginagawa niya. Tumulong na lang sana.
“Stop, collaborate and Listen.”
Bea Alonzo, who was also a guest during the episode, also asked the same question to the Senator. The pair is currently promoting their movie First Love directed by Paul Soriano.
The video of the segment has now been deleted from ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube Channel.

“So, now I’m collaborating with ASUS and that inspires me,” Bea added.

“Well, he inspires me too. That’s a good thing.”
A lot has commended her beautiful shape now, even posting sexy for a magazine. What does she do to achieve these?

Gerald Anderson, known to take stardom being half of the kilig loveteam Kimerald, is now busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Can We Still Be Friends?‘.
The much-awaited comeback of his tandem with Arci Muñoz is now ready to relive #TeamLablab by turning it to #TeamRelate.
He took the Philippine showbiz again by storm after admitting his ‘exclusively dating’ status with Bea Alonzo. While they are both enjoying each other’s company, Kim Chiu‘s name will always be attached to Gerald’s after being a real-life couple for almost half of his 11-year showbiz career. It is inevitable to talk about Gerald Anderson without Kim being dragged to the conversation. That’s how big their loveteam was, and will be.
In one of his interviews and promotions for his upcoming film, he was asked how he is dealing with the sudden comeback of Kimerald. He simply said,
“Masaya ako dahil marami rin po kaming fans na naghihintay at naghintay para magsama ulit kami ni Kim. Ito nga, araw-araw na nila kaming mapapanood. So, isa yun sa mga gusto ko rin talagang gawin dahil nga para sa mga fans na simula ng career ko andun sila. 11 years na akong artista at hanggang ngayon andyan pa rin sila. Bilang loveteam, sobrang happy ako na kasama ko siya ulit.”
Since his new film revolves about exes who are trying to be friends again, Gerald answered how did the Kimerald comeback start off. Awkwardness is really evident, according to him.
“Syempre bago pa naman ‘yung Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, hindi rin kami ‘yung sobrang okay na okay, diba? Hi, hello na lang ‘pag nagkikita kami sa ASAP. So, syempre may awkwardness talaga sa simula.”
But he also shared how he was able to cope up with the awkwardness later on.
“Time. Habang nagte-taping kami, habang mas nakakasama ko siya ng mas matagal, nagiging mas okay.”
What do you think, guys? Can you actually befriend your exes? Why or why not, share us your thoughts!
It is the most colorful time in Baguio, without a doubt. It is the most awaited event of the year in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
The City of Pines was set ablazed yet again for this year’s Panagbenga Festival. The Grand Float Parade, as always, is the main event of the feast. Filled with floral-themed floats, Session Road was jampacked on Sunday, February 26.
A total of 22 floats battled out for the Best Float. They marched from the DILG Building down to the Athletic Bowl. Last year’s winners, Baguio Country Club and SM City Baguio led the parade as 9 entries competed for Small Float category and 10 for the Big Float category.
Here are the floats that are fan favorites:
Celebrities even added to the glamour that the event is. Bea Alonzo, Enchong Dee, AlDub, and Jericho Rosales joined the celebration and made Baguio screaming. Ms. International 2016, Kylie Versoza is also there.
One of the highlights of this year’s festival was when a group of hunky and handsome Igorots made everyone drool. They paraded with their native bahag, exposing their chiseled body and even their bums.
The internet sensation, the Carrot Man himself, Jeyrick Sigmaton participated in her hometown’s grand festival. He posed with the handsome Igorots. They erased the stigma and the stereotyping for the Igorots, and proved that they are drool-worthy also just like anyone else can be.
Everybody can’t wait until Panagbenga 2018!
The Filipino romantic drama A Second Chance has hit blockbuster status by grossing 400 million at the box office just 10 days after opening in theaters. But beyond its phenomenal success, this One More Chance sequel has also influenced some people to give love a second chance. Take for example netizen Chi De Ville who was in an “unideal” relationship. Chi and her boyfriend decided to give their relationship a break and mutually agreed to be just friends until they saw the movie starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
Chi, then said in her post:
For the past few weeks, i can feel that our relationship is falling apart. Sometimes, i feel alone eventhough we’re together. Just yesterday, i had all the intentions of breaking up with him. I asked him to meet me and talk about it. He felt the need to let me go because he can see that i was getting hurt and disappointed by what we have become. The ‘talk’ was somewhat blurry but we both agreed to stay as friends.
We watched #ASecondChance after our conversation. Tinamaan kaming dalawa sa mga scenes and hugot lines. We were both crying as the movie ended. Then, we talked some more. That movie really helped us understand each other’s feelings and sacrifices. I realized that he was getting hurt, too. While i was busy pointing out his shortcomings, i didn’t realize that at some point, may pagkukulang din ako. Bottom line is, we are not perfect. We will struggle, we will have fights, we will make decisions and we will surpass emotional battles. I know we can, just as long as we are together. I love him and that will never change.
If you guys are going through some tough times with your partners, try to watch the movie. It will give you a whole new perspective.
After watching the movie, Chi and her boyfriend gave their relationship a second chance. On a final note, she also recommends that couples who are going through challenges to watch the movie so they will see their relationship in a whole new perspective.

Practically every Pinoy has seen the hit romantic movie One More Chance. The unforgettable love story of Popoy, played by John Lloyd Cruz, and Basha, portrayed by Bea Alonzo, was a box office hit in 2007 under the direction of award-winning director Cathy Garcia-Molina and released under Star Cinema.
If you still can’t get enough of the movie which started the famous ‘hugot’ lines in Philippine cinema, ABS-CBN Publishing has released a novel adaptation written by Juan Miguel Sevilla, based on the movie’s screenplay by Vanessa Valdez and Carmi Raymundo.
One More Chance is a story of two sweethearts who, like all other lovers, hope to share their lives together forever. But Basha grew tired of Popoy controlling her life, and broke up with him.
The book, according to ABS-CBN news, is divided into chapters, which features the hugot lines made popular by the film.
Let’s look back at the hugot lines that left a mark on every One More Chance fanatic.
“Alam mo ba ‘yung three month rule, ha?! Lahat ng nagmahal at nasaktan alam ‘yun! Kailangan mo muna maghintay ng three months bago ka magka-boyfriend ulit! Ba’t ba kating-kati kang palitan ako?! May dalawang linggo pa ‘ko bash!”
“Well it’s an exciting time Bash, but at the end of the day, even though things have changed, some things remained the same, di ba? Kaya dapat wag mo kakalimutan ang lumang ikaw.”
“Minsan, it’s better for two people to break up.. So they can grow up. It takes grown ups to make relationships work.”
“Baka kaya tayo iniiwan ng mga taong mahal natin, kase baka merong bagong darating na mas OK, na mas mamahalin tayo, yung taong hindi tayo sasaktan at paaasahin, yung nag-iisang taong magtatama ng mali sa buhay natin, nang lahat ng mali sa buhay mo.”
“Ang totoo hanggang ngayon umaasa pa rin ako na sabihin mong ako pa rin. Ako na lang. Ako na lang ulit.”
“She loved me at my worst, you had me at my best. At binalewala mo lang lahat yon. And chose to break my heart.”
“Lecheng shampoo yan hindi pa ko tinuluyan! TAKE ME LOOOOORD!!”
The book will be released next week in all bookstores nationwide.
