Last Friday, ABS-CBN released the third season teaser of their hit afternoon series Kadenang Ginto.

The teaser shows the latest plot curveball of the show. The tables have turned on the Mondragons. We see Romina blazing as she builds her business empire and Daniela razed, stripped away of all her possessions.

The teaser video instantly trended on social media, particularly the scene showing Daniela walking on the street of a poor neighborhood, strutting in her blood red dress and luggage, complemented with her black and gold purse, heels and accessories.

Netizens started putting Daniela at various locations like Mactan Bridge in Cebu, under the newly-constructed Mambaling underpass, at a safari in Palawan, different schools. Some even put Daniela outside the country.

ABS-CBN’s Kadenang Ginto continues to reign in its afternoon timeslot, with a 23.7 percent audience share according to latest data by third-party analytics firm Kantar Media.

A photo of a netizen, smiling together with senatorial candidate Bong Revilla, is making rounds on social media for its controversial caption by mocking the former senator regarding his plunder cases by way of keeping his wallet safe from him.

“Wag po kayong mag-alala. Wala naman pong nawala. Mahigpit po pagkakahawak ko sa wallet ko,” wrote netizen Carlos Mañosa Ng II on his Facebook account, alluding to Revilla’s alleged involvement with Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), or pork barrel, scam.

The actor-politician, along with former senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Jinggoy Estrada, were accused of receiving kickbacks from businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, in exchange for directing some of their discretionary funds to phony non-government organizations.

During one of the hearings of his plunder case, Revilla denied receiving money from Napoles nor from her colleagues.

The former action star has been detained at the Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame since 2014, but was acquitted of plunder and released on December 7, 2018. Revilla still faces 16 counts of graft presently.

Netizens had dissenting opinions after seeing and reading Ng’s viral-post, which received 24 thousand reactions online.

On the one hand, social media users stood by Ng’s side, commending his mockery of the former senator while on the other hand, netizens pointed out how Ng had been disrespectful of Revilla and how his “joke” fell flat on them.

With the country is experiencing soaring temperatures this summer, netizens could not help but start a trend on social media, not to combat the heat per se, but to creatively and funnily describe how blazingly hot it is in the Philippines.

Facebook page Tuguegarao City 101 posted an edited picture of an unharvested corn with some of its grains already popping to describe how searing it is in the area.

“Ganito puwedeng ilarawan ngayon ang init sa Tuguegarao. Hindi pa naani ang mais nagiging popcorn na,” wrote the administrator of the page.

The said city is among the hottest places in the country, especially during the dry season.

The post has now gone viral with over seven thousand reactions and six thousand shares online.

Another viral representation of the Philippine summer is a video of a chicken floating in a basin full of water and not even moving. When someone interrupted it, the chicken got out of the water.

Turns out it was bathing to keep itself cool under the sun.

Said video was posted by Animals Wildlife on March 12 with over eight million views and 234 thousand likes online.

Illustrator Christwin Felix posted a conversation that he had with a netizen, a self-proclaimed “meme lord,” who stole his artwork.

“note: as soon as i have received a notice about my stolen artwork, i take actions.minessage ko itong taong ito agad nung malaman ko yung ginawa nya (2:22pm, wala pang 1k likes yung post) ngayong hating gabi at umabot na ng 11k likes, feeling nagPM ako sa kanya kasi nagviral. at ngayong tapos na ang usapan, nagp-pm nanaman para daw pakiusapan ang fb na ibalik yung post nya, 1st time yatang magkaroon ng viral na post, iyo na kasikatang natamo mo, lubayan mo artworks ko.”

On January 22, he uploaded screenshots on his Facebook page Tunganga when he realized that his artwork is getting stolen.

Felix said that he had messaged the netizen even before it reached 1,000 likes, but the latter thought that he only reached out because it went viral. His first message was “DON’T EDIT MY ARTWORK! DELETE IT NOW!” And after more than eight hours, the netizen replied that he is not trying to take the artwork as he’s just a simple “meme lord.”

The illustrator also sent him a photo of the book as proof that it is published artwork but the netizen just questioned his knowledge of the term “fair use” and accused him of being a “bad person who hates the happiness of others.”

Then he said that the artist wouldn’t even have messages him if the photo didn’t go viral and called him a “spoiled brat.”

But 15 minutes later, the netizen messaged him again, begging for him to contact Facebook and restore the meme in exchange for the credits.
