It was not an easy start for Lyca Gairanod, a nine-year-old girl who used to scavenge junk in her native Cavite. She was first known as one of the Singing Street Children which went viral on social-networking sites. Her video received a lot of good comments from the netizens, not just from the Philippines but also from abroad.

Upon her entry on the blind auditions of “The Voice PH Kids,” aside from her great voice, her story as a little girl, who used to scavenge to help her parents with their livelihood, has captured viewers’ hearts. Lyca as a kid, had a more challenging start in life – her father is a fisherman, and Lyca’s mom, Maria Nessel, helps by scavenging what she can from trash cans, sometimes with Lyca’s assistance.

Lyca, a small kid with big dreams, became known for her heartfelt performances and humble background. Lyca also previously revealed that she would perform for her neighbors in exchange for cash or food.
