Mirth is the currency for Kapuso comediennes Aiai delas Alas, Divine Tetay, Tekla and Kiray Celis in their industry of slapstick.
They are the ones relied on for people needing entertainment and time away from their personal troubles or even just to lighten up their moods.
What about their own happiness?
And even though their circumstances may get hard, they must put on a brave face to continue the show.
In the face of misery, it is easier for Divine Tetay to recover from it due to the nature of his work.
“Because we need to put on a happy face. So eventually, it helps us heal faster and deal with whatever problems there is,” he explained.
“Ang sarap magpatawa at magperform,” said Tekla. He then referred their talents of making others laugh as a ‘real gift’.
Super Tekla became emotional when telling about his backstory and his journey from the mountains of Cotabato to his success in showbusiness.
A loving husband and father, he tried his luck in Manila to bring his family out of poverty.
He also told of his story when he had his big break in the Will of Fortune show and his hesitation to join because of fear, but which he later accepted.
“Siguro doon talaga ako nabe-belong and then suddenly, nangangailangan si Kuya Wil ng komedyante.
According to him, despite everything that had happened (referring to his controversy in Wowowin), he is thankful to the GMA Network for their thrust and support.
“And then, ‘yun na nga ‘yung time na ‘di ko alam, ‘yung pagsali ko sa ‘Wil of Fortune,’ ‘yun ‘yung shining moment ko. After many years na pinagtiisan ko, ‘yun pala ‘yung tinatawag na right timing… Thank you, GMA. Despite everything, ‘yung tiwala kasi napakahirap ibigay ‘yun. Thank you, thank you so much.”
Now, he co-stars on the hit comedy show, ‘The Boobay and Tekla Show,’ along with Boobay which airs every Sunday night on GMA Network.

GMA Films is now back from their hiatus that started after the release of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza‘s Imagine You and Me.
The filming has started for the principal photography for the production’s comeback movie, Kambal, Karnabal, starring Derrik Monasterio, Super Tekla, Kiray Celis, Jo Berry, and Kim Domingo. It is directed by Adolf Alix Jr.
It is said that this will mark the start of GMA Films continuous production of movies.
Monasterio shared that he’s very excited about the comeback movie and he’s thankful for those who trusted his skills as an actor.
GMA Films produced some award-winning movies such as Jose Rizal, Muro-Ami, Sa Pusod ng Dagat, Death Row, and a few more others.
After Felipe Gozon took over the film production branch of GMA Network, it was placed on hiatus for about five years.
As they have put out successful movies, they have also produced not-so-successful movies such as Boy Pick-Up: The Movie starring Ogie Alcasid, My Kontrabida Girl starring Rhian Ramos and Aljur Abrenica, Patient X starring Richard Gutierrez and Cristine Reyes, Batanes: Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan starring Iza Calzado and Taiwanese actor Ken Chu of Meteor Garden.

The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS) started off as a product of GMA ONE Online Exclusives and each episode has gained hundreds of thousands of views online.
Because of their online following, GMA Network has decided to finally give them a timeslot every Sunday, after Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. It will premiere on January 27.
Super Tekla has shared that before this, he was ready to go back to Cotabato as he felt like a failure and was embarrassed of himself.
But when someone from the Network called him and informed him about the show with Boobay, he said that it was like an answered prayer.
As TBATS Will be in the same timeslot as Vice Ganda‘s Gandang Gabi, Vice, Super Tekla expressed that they’re not planning to make it a competition because their main goal is to enjoy themselves.
So what’s should viewers look forward to?
“Marami kaming pasabog at mga big Kapuso stars ang ready nang mag-guest sa show namin ni Boobay,” he stated.
