Jeyrick Sigmaton a.k.a Carrot Man was introduced to the world after his photo was published and went viral last February 2016. He was spotted by tourists, working in the Mountain Province.
He expressed how his viral photo has changed his life.
Since then, he appeared in various GMA Network shows such as Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Bubble Gang, Unang Hirit, Sunday PinaSaya, and Wowowin.
Jeyrick was then given a make-over, cutting his hair short and started wearing more fashionable and trendy clothes. “Noong na-makeover ako noon, doon ko ho nakita na, ‘Ay wow, ganito pala.’Parang nagulat lang ako sa sarili ko kasi noong nagbubuhat ako ng carrot noon, talagang walang ayos-ayos. Tapos noong inayusan ako, napa-wow talaga ako noon. Hindi ko naman sa pinagyayabang, pero may kagwapuhan din pala” he admitted.
He also landed some endorsement deals that took him to different countries like United Kingdom, Korea, and Thailand. But after all those, his career began to slow down and he went back to Baguio.
After two years of staying silent, Jayrick was pushed by his friends and family members to give showbiz a try once again. As a start, he mentioned that he wants to be a part of the popular reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother.
“Inaasahan ko pong makapasok sa Bahay ni Kuya kasi ang daming nangangarap na pumasok doon. Lucky ako pag nakapasok ako doon. Kakayanin ko ‘to dahil sa sarili ko din at sa pamilya ko at sa mga taong sumusuporta sa akin. Pinakamahirap po yung mahiwalay ka sa pamilya, makapag-adjust na kahit nag-iisa ka, mabuhay na mag-isa ka, ganun po.” Jayrick said.
When he was asked about his motivation for pursuing this career path, he said that he wants to have his own house.
Yes, he is the boy in the rain, later referred to as the Carrot Man.
Jeyrick Sigmaton was just a normal farmer from the beautiful place of Mountain Province until the internet feasted on him. From being that boy wonder, Jeyrick has come a long way, from non-stop features to magazine cover to endorsement deals! Imagine?
Now living in a normal life once again, ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’ visited Carrot Man in Baguio City. He moved to Baguio months after his internet stardom. According to him, it is hotter in Baguio than in Mountain Province. He is also flaunting his newly-trimmed haircut.
“Nung nag-viral ako, napunta ako sa iba’t ibang lugar at bansa. Nakaipon ng kaunting income mula sa mga event na siyang ginagamit ko para sa pag-aaral ng aking mga kapatid,” Jeyrick said when asked what has changed after the world acknowledged him.
Despite all the opportunities being offered to him, he firmly stood by his priorities. Studying. That’s what he is exactly doing right now, dropping some offers to him. He is just finishing up his secondary education and vows to support his younger siblings in achieving their dreams.
He also used the fame he gained to promote the culture and tradition his tribe has. It can be remembered that Jeyrick is a part of the Ekachacran tribe from the Mountain Province.
Carrot Man stays grateful to social media for letting the world know about his culture-rich roots.

It is the most colorful time in Baguio, without a doubt. It is the most awaited event of the year in the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
The City of Pines was set ablazed yet again for this year’s Panagbenga Festival. The Grand Float Parade, as always, is the main event of the feast. Filled with floral-themed floats, Session Road was jampacked on Sunday, February 26.
A total of 22 floats battled out for the Best Float. They marched from the DILG Building down to the Athletic Bowl. Last year’s winners, Baguio Country Club and SM City Baguio led the parade as 9 entries competed for Small Float category and 10 for the Big Float category.
Here are the floats that are fan favorites:
Celebrities even added to the glamour that the event is. Bea Alonzo, Enchong Dee, AlDub, and Jericho Rosales joined the celebration and made Baguio screaming. Ms. International 2016, Kylie Versoza is also there.
One of the highlights of this year’s festival was when a group of hunky and handsome Igorots made everyone drool. They paraded with their native bahag, exposing their chiseled body and even their bums.
The internet sensation, the Carrot Man himself, Jeyrick Sigmaton participated in her hometown’s grand festival. He posed with the handsome Igorots. They erased the stigma and the stereotyping for the Igorots, and proved that they are drool-worthy also just like anyone else can be.
Everybody can’t wait until Panagbenga 2018!
Days after “carrot man” caused a social media frenzy, another farmer from the Mountain Province seems to have caught the fancy of netizens.
Neil Galuten Matchok, also known as the “cabbage man,” has made the online world take notice after his sister Amy Galuten Matchok-Pandoyos decided to post photos of him on Facebook. Although several netizens compared Neil to Jeyrick Sigmaton, the overly photogenic “carrot man” also from the Mountain Province, Amy stressed that she did not post her brother’s photos for comparison.
Photos of the attractive farmer were also shared on the Facebook page of Trending News and Viral. With over 6,000 shares as of press time, cabbage man’s photos has certainly taken the social media world by storm.
Netizens can’t help but ask if there’s more of their kind coming. With two good-looking vegetable farmers currently making waves on social media, it is not far-fetched to assume that netizens will soon feast on “chopseuy” men.
A young farmer from the highlands of the Cordilleras has become an overnight sensation on social media after photos of him were shared on Facebook.
Jeyrick Sigmaton, now more popularly known as the “carrot man,” has become an Internet heartthrob after user Edwina T. Bandong shared his photos on Facebook. According to Edwina, she and her group were on their way to Sagada when they chanced upon the charming Igorot farmer from Kadaclan, Mt Province.
It turns out, Edwina wasn’t the only one smitten by Sigmaton’s dashing good looks. Immediately after posting his photos on Facebook, Sigmaton’s post became viral as it caught the interest of thousands of netizens. In fact, it was even featured on the Facebook page of Positive Outlook Plus. As of press time, the post has received almost 10,000 shares on Facebook.
Many netizens believe that Sigmaton has a bright future in showbiz if given the right opportunity. This comes as no surprise since the late Marky Cielo, the first Igorot celebrity in the Philippines, was able to make his mark in showbiz in 2006. Sadly, Cielo mysteriously died in 2008 inside his room in Antipolo City.
Could “carrot man” be the next Igorot in showbiz?
