‘Deserve ng taumbayan ang truth.’ Ogie Diaz comments on Apollo Quiboloy issue

The Senate is currently conducting an investigation into Quiboloy’s alleged involvement in a human trafficking scheme, as well as accusations of rape and other forms of abuse within his organization, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ church.

In the midst of the controversies surrounding Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Ogie Diaz has weighed in, emphasizing the importance of transparency for the public.

Diaz expressed his views, stating, “Magkaiba kami ng pananaw ni Sen. Robin Padilla. Sana, hinayaan niyang ipagtanggol ni Quiboloy ang sarili niya.”

Recent events have seen Senator Robin Padilla standing against a Senate committee’s move to hold Quiboloy in contempt, following the latter’s repeated refusal to attend the Senate’s investigation.

Deserve ng taumbayan ang truth,” Diaz added, underlining the significance of transparency in the matter.

The Senate is currently conducting an investigation into Quiboloy’s alleged involvement in a human trafficking scheme, as well as accusations of rape and other forms of abuse within his organization, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ church.

Padilla managed to gather support from Senators Cynthia Villar, Imee Marcos, and Christopher Go in opposition to the Senate’s actions. However, Senator JV Ejercito initially supported Padilla’s objection but later withdrew his signature from the objection letter.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the committee, moved forward with a motion to hold Quiboloy in contempt and sought an arrest warrant for his absence from the panel’s third hearing, with backing from Senator Aquilino Pimentel III.

Padilla’s opposition led Hontiveros to provide him until March 12 to gather eight votes among the committee’s 14 members to reverse the motion.

Senators Villar and Marcos voiced their support for Quiboloy, citing their longstanding friendship with him.

Meanwhile, other members of the committee, including Senators Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, and Mark Villar, have yet to take a stance on the issue, along with ex-officio members Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and Majority Leader Joel Villanueva.
