American rapper Cardi B recently gave balut, a Filipino delicacy, a try but found it wasn’t to her liking.
In a video shared on her TikTok account, Cardi B is seen sampling a balut, a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten from the shell. After slurping up the broth and cracking open the balut, her reaction was one of surprise.
“I think I overcooked the duck,” she commented before tasting the balut.
“No. I don’t like it. I don’t like it. […] It literally tastes to me like [an] uncle chicken. I don’t know, it was just too gamey for me. Too much meat scent. […] But the liquid they had inside, it was good.
“I’m not even gonna rate it [from] 1 to 10, I’m just gonna say it’s just not for me,” Cardi B concluded after her balut tasting experience.

Although balut didn’t appeal to her, Cardi B has previously expressed her fondness for Filipino cuisine, particularly lumpiang shanghai and buko salad. She even gave a shoutout to her Filipino aunt-in-law for preparing them.
