Rita Avila says truth will prevail despite efforts to distort history

Rita Avila believes that the truth about Philippine history will prevail despite the recent rise of various perspectives surrounding it.

A day after the premiere of Darryl Yap’s “Maid in Malacañang (MIM)” and Atty. Vince Tañada’s “Katips,” Avila went on Facebook and gave her thoughts on how the two films gave viewers different points of view about the martial law era.

“I agree, kahit anong daming sides ang kwento, mananatili ang katotohanan,” the actress wrote, reacting to Tañada and a publisher’s statements about distorting history.

“Parang tsismis, ang daming bersyon; pero yung pinagtitsismisan pa rin ang may hawak ng katotohanan.” she added.

The kakampink said people nowadays don’t put in the effort to find out the truth and will settle for gossip.

“Nasa tao naman kung gustong maniwala sa tsismis. Kaso bihira ang mag-iisip at maghahanap ng katotohanan. Sapat na sa kanila ang naaliw sila sa tsismis at naramdamang mas ‘mataas’ sila sa taong tinatapakan.”

“May choice ka naman lagi kung ano ang gusto mong paniwalaan.

“Ano ba ang gusto mong ipasok sa isipan mo?

“Ang mga nasulat na sa history books ay nangyari na. Hindi puwedeng palitan. Nangyari na nga eh.

“Wag magalit. Hindi kita pinipilit. Kung gusto mong mali ang igiit, kaalaman mo’y ikaw ang guguhit.” she furthered.

Avila also quoted a sentence from Didache, “May I fully depend on the truth of who You are (Father God) and not the lies of the world.”

Avila’s critics couldn’t comment on the post but flooded it with laughing emojis which caught the actress’ attention.

“Nakakatawa? K. Meron kasing mas nakakatawa. Hindi yung isang pelikula ha? Kung magets nyo, matalino nga kayo.”

MIM showed moviegoers the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace, while Katips was all about the experience of student activists during the martial law era.

Tañada came out and said that he intended to challenge MIM on the August 4 premiere.

Sa video na ibinahagi ng isang nagngangalang “Rae Viloria,” makikitang nagpasalamat ang direktor sa mga nanood na nasa loob ng sinehan.

“Maraming salamat po! Patuloy po nating ipaglaban ang katotohanan!” Tañada said in response to a certain Rae Viloria who praised the movie.
