A genuine gesture of a grandpa in Alcala, Cagayan Valley touched the hearts of netizens as he made sure to grant his granddaughter her wish.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officers Red-gelo Agbayani with Teresa Pineda uploaded the story of Edgar Guiyab Paet and his eldest grandchild Princess.
It is said that Edgar is a member of the Pantawid Program from Barangay Baybayog, Alcala since 2012. His wife, Ma. Teresa, is a vendor, while he’s a carpenter.
He put his building skills not just to make an income but also to make his family happy. This is proven when Princess asked him to buy a children’s swimming pool. Since it’s not easy for them to buy something like the four-year-old’s wish, he decided to take control of that dream.
Edgar made sure to improvise and built a swimming pool from pieces of wood and a large piece of plastic. When asked for the reason he put so much effort into it, he said that he would do anything for his family.
“Kahit anong hirap ng buhay kung para sa pamilya ko, lalo na para sa apo ko, gagawin ko lahat ng makakaya ko,” Edgar said in Ilocano.

A netizen stated that the improvised swimming pool is more expensive than any other pool in the world as the cost is pure love.
Others looked back to the times they spent with their late grandparents and said that the post reminded them of the love they received from the latter.
Edgar’s granddaughter, Princess is staying in Cagayan with her grandparents while her parents are working in Metro Manila.
