Act of one is an act of all: PNP digs its own grave after rape-slay case of flight attendant in Makati City

After calling the act of PSSgt. Jonel Nuezca an “isolated case”, a police officer is now saying that one man’s act is indeed an act also done by his comrades.

Remember when the Philippine National Police (PNP), Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, and basically everyone who supported the police force said PSSgt. Jonel Nuezca’s double-tap in Tarlac was an isolated case?

It appears the PNP is now changing its tone—or at least one of their men, anyway.

After the grim rape-slay case of flight attendant Christine Dacera made headlines across the country, Makati City Police Chief Col. Harold Depositar basically said all 11 men who were with Dacera that New Year’s Day were guilty.

This one statement struck a chord with netizens, who reminded Makati’s top cop what his organization said just a month prior.

Netizens were quick to poke fun at Depositar’s statement, calling it ironic after some of the country’s top officials went out of their way to say Nuezca killing the Gregorios was “an isolated case”.

They also quipped Depositar and the country’s police force, saying they now agree that Nuezca’s case was anything but isolated.

Back in December, Año would condemn Nuezca’s act, he would go on to say that “the sin of Nuezca is not the sin of the entire PNP.”

President Rodrigo Duterte would essentially say the same, saying he will not protect Nuezca through Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

Even recently-promoted PNP Chief Debold Sinas said the same thing, adding that the incident will “in no way affect the sworn duty of the 221,000 police personnel to serve and protect our people.”

Depositar has yet to respond to these claims made by netizens as it has not yet been brought up during recent press conferences for the case. Meanwhile, Sinas dubbed the case “solved” as they already have enough evidence to charge those involved, even if 9 men involved are still at large.

As for Dacera’s loved ones, all they ask is to have all who were involved brought to justice.
