Netizens react to possible promotion of Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas

Sinas has yet to receive sanction for his controversial birthday gathering that violated quarantine protocols.

  • Netizens slammed Sinas after being told by new PNP chief Camilo Cascolan that he is deserving of a promotion.
  • Cascolan said the reason is that Sinas has done good things in the past and he is an expert in training.

Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas is in the headlines once again after Gen. Camilo Cascolan, who is the new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief said that the former “deserves” a promotion as he has done “good things” in the past.

“We have to evaluate him properly. The guy deserves also an evaluation and of course, a promotion, too,” he said during an interview with ANC.

“I think he has to be up at the Directorial Staff or a certain position that is for most especially for him… He is an expert most especially with regard to the training of personnel and training of recruits.”

“He is doing good. He did his best and he’s done good in PRO-4A. He has a reputation in the service and he is a very competent person, too,” the PNP chief said.

Netizens have reacted negatively to the statement, bringing back the criticism he got for violating quarantine guidelines over a pre-birthday serenade. He is said to have violated the 10-people limit on gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Others have expressed their disappointment with memes on Twitter.
