TV5 offers help to ABS-CBN workers

There was a national outcry when ABS-CBN was shut down. Public’s main concern was the added unemployed individuals of the nation.

TV 5 is ready to give jobs to ABS-CBN employees after Congress voted to deny the network a new franchise.

Chairman of Media Quest Holdings Manuel Pangilinan, who is also one of the shareholders of TV5, said that they would do their best to help those who were displaced by Congress’s decision.

He is looking for possible candidates who would fill in the jobs of cameraman, directors, writers, or whoever works behind the scenes.

TV5 would give all of their efforts to employ people as much as they can.

Pangilinan also added that he would respect the ABS-CBN bylaws and agreements. As of the moment, it is said that there’s no direct communication between the two networks, but it is also said that there would be possible arrangements in the future.

There was a possibility that ABS-CBN would have their own channel on Cignal TV. Cignal TV is one of the biggest direct to home television services.

By August 31, ABS-CBN will be retrenching most of its workforce.

In an official statement, the network said that they are doing all they can to lessen the burden and pain of those who are affected by this situation by providing alternative jobs, handing out retirement benefits, and paying on their separation fees.
