LOOK: Stranger tries to shame mother whose child was a ‘late learner’

Saldariega says that the attitude of her kids is what she values the most. Accordingly, she’s not a “fan” of comparing children to one another.

Netizen Angel Saldariega posted screenshots of her conversation with a stranger on Facebook who said that her child learning is late.

Saldariega says that the attitude of her kids is what she values the most. Accordingly, she’s not a “fan” of comparing children to one another.

“FYI lakompake po kung mas matalino kids mo, good for you 😂🤣 basta happy, righteous, well mannered at saktong marunong at may alam lang ang kids ko, oks na ako. ‘Di ako fan ng kumparahan ng anak 😂 its a NO for me di po sila lalaking may inggit sa balat,” she wrote in the caption.

(FYI, I don’t care if your kids are more intellectual, good for you. As long as my kids are happy, righteous, well mannered, and at least knowledgeable, it’s already okay for me. I’m not a fan of comparing children, it’s a NO for me. My kids will not grow up envious.)

The conversation started when a Facebook user “Maritess” asked Saldariega how old her child is. She then replied that her child is already 4 years old.

Maritess then asked if Angel’s child knows how to write his/her name.

“‘Di pa po ma’am, lines lines palang po. Puro laro pa po kasi,” Angel replied.

(Not yet ma’am, merely lines. My child keeps on playing)

Maritess said that Angel’s child might be education might be lagging behind.

” ‘Di po ba siya late? Sa edad nya. Anak ko kasi memorize na pangalan mag-4 (years old) palang sa July” Maritess asked.

(Isn’t he late already? On his age? Because my child already memorized her name. My child’s turning 4-years old on July)

“Nag-aral na ba siya?” Maritess added.

(Is your child studying?)

“Galing naman po ng anak niyo ma’am. Iba-iba naman po daw ang mga bata, matuturuan pa naman po. ‘Di po namin siya in-enroll prep eh dahil sa covid. Sa bahay lang po, baka deretcho na po sa kinder, sa K-12.” Angel replied.

(Your child is great ma’am. Children are different from each other, my child is teachable. We didn’t enroll him in preparatory because of COVID. Maybe he’ll enter kinder directly, in K-12)

But Maritess continuously questioned the learning of Angel’s child.

“Paano yan ‘di niyo enroll, ‘di pa nga marunong ng pangalan? Anak ko nagbabasa na konti,” Maritess queries.

Angel then replied that she can teach her child at home.

Maritess still insisted that Angel’s child might be late already.

“Salamat po sa concern manay Maritess,” Angel calmly replied.

(Thank you for the concern)

Maritess then asked how Angel feels knowing that her child is late.

” ‘Di ba masakit bilang nanay na mahuhuli anak mo”

(As a mother, isn’t it hurtful to know that your child is late)

“Manay, masyado pa po maaga para masabi ko na late po ang anak ko. Kumpara sa ibang bata, salamat po ulit sa concern, at nakakatuwa naman po na super proud kayo sa anak niyo. Good job ka po jan!” Angel answered back.

(It is too already to say that my child is already late. Thank you for your concern. It is good to hear that you are really proud of your child)

Maritess still insisted on her point. Angel replied with a pun.

“Kabisado na po ba ng anak niyo ang Solar System?” Angel responds.

(Did your child memorize the Solar System?)

Maritess then claimed that the lesson about Solar System is for Grade 4 already.

“Pang malaki na yun, marunong anak ko sis basic na basa” Maritess said.
(It is for older children, my child knows basic reading)

“Pang Grade 4 yun Solar System gaya sa anak ko panganay” Maritess added.

(Solar System lesson is for Grade 4, like my older child)

With an irresistible urge, Angel retorts the claim of Maritess.

“Panis po anak niyo. Kbye” Angel said, possibly referring to the fact that her child who is “late” with his learning already knows the solar system as opposed to Maritess’s supposedly well educated children.

Angel then blocked Maritess for sending messages.

In the same post, Angel then added that after 2 days when her post went viral, the family and friends of “Maritess” claimed that there is another person using the picture and it was a poser account.

Angel then covered the picture but retained their entire conversation.

As of June 6, the post already gained more than 25,000 likes and 49,000 shares.
