Social media sensation and supposed businessman Francis Leo Marcos arrested by NBI

Controversial YouTuber who claimed to be the younger brother of former president Ferdinand Marcos arrested for allegedly violating the Optometry Law.

  • NBI revealed that the suspect also has several pending charges and is currently being investigated by several units of the agency. 

Businessman and viral social media personality Francis Leo Marcos, whose real name is Norman Mangusin, was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for alleged violation of the Optometry Law.

Operatives of the NBI Cybercrime Division arrested Mangusin for violation of Republic Act No. 8050 after the Baguio City Court issued a warrant against him on the noon of May 19.

It was served to him by Judge Maria Ligaya Itliong-Rivera, Branch 60 of the Baguio RTC.

According to Cybercrime Chief Victor Lorenzo, the suspect has several pending cases in the NBI aside from the allegations that he distributed eyeglasses without the approval and permission of the Philippine Association of Optometrists.

The NBI is also verifying charges against Mangusin for qualified human trafficking and violence against women. He is also being investigated by several units of the NBI, Lorenzo said.

The internet personality has more than one million subscribers on YouTube and is known for his said distribution of assistance to Filipinos.

He also claimed that his father was the late Dr. Pacifico Marcos, which makes him the younger brother of former president Ferdinand Marcos.

Sandro Marcos, son of Senator Bongbong Marcos, denied Mangusin’s claims.

The businessman’s bail is set at Php20,000.
