Angel Locsin, along with various ABS-CBN personalities, gathered together and went live on Facebook to air their different thoughts on the media giant’s shutdown.
It was quite a surprise for someone like Shaina Magdayao to have joined since she has never been really the type to speak on controversial issues, even with those concerning her.
The shutdown had a huge impact on Magdayao given she’s been with the network for most of her life, 23 years to be exact.
She saw the shutdown as “katahimikan na nakakabingi.
“Hindi ako makapaniwala at natakot ako.
“Lahat ng parte ng buhay ko ay bigla na lang nawala”, she said.
Magdayao is aware that they are susceptible to harsh criticisms since they are celebrities but acknowledged that they have to do it so the off-screen employees can have a voice.
“Sa totoo lang nakakatakot ang ginagawa namin dito ngayon. Ineexpose namin damdamin namin only to be bashed, only to be judged dahil public figure kami.
“Bilang isang tao magdadalawang isip ka talaga kung bakit ka magsasalita dahil sa panahon ngayon mas madali tumahimik ka na lang.
“Pero hindi ako patatahimikin ng konsensiya ko,” she said.
Magdayao and Jodi Sta.Maria have always said that ‘Love and Service’ is the main principle. This was embedded in her thoughts ever since she worked for network.
One thing that she observed when going on tours was that the Filipino people would always fight, no matter the adversity.
“Ang Pilipino kahit ano pang pagsubok yan, aahon at aahon yan, lalaban at lalaban yan.”
Magdayao has no choice but to set aside her fears because the people need her.
“Isasantabi ko muna ang takot ngayon at pangamba dahil ang pagbabalik ng trabaho ay ang tanging paraan namin para makatulong sa kapamilya namin sa industriya para magkaroon sila ng pangkabuhayan ulit para pagsuporta sa kanilang kapamilya.”

It was wrong to have shut down the network leaving 11,000 people unemployed on top of the thousands or maybe millions left jobless due to the COVID-19 crisis in the country.
“Makatarungan ba na magdagdag pa tayo ng 11,000 na Pilipino?”
Just like any other citizen, Magdayao wants answers and she wants them now.
“Hindi ako mapapagod na sabihin to, na dun lang ako sa makatao”
“Laban Kapamilya,” she concluded.
