Filipinas prefer brains over physical attractiveness, survey suggests

There are a lot of single men and women who are happy

  • Overall, Filipinos pick intellect over beauty

The Social Weather Station (SWS) released the results of the Fourth Quarter 2019 survey and concluded that 4 out of 5 Filipinos are more attracted to a person’s brains than their bodies.

The data was released on Valentine’s Day and was very similar to the results of 2002, where 81% of Filipinos also chose brains over physical attractiveness.

The survey had 1,200 respondents, and all were above the age of 18.

When it comes to gender comparisons, the SWS found that 83% of women chose brains over body, but only 78% of men do.

“Eighty-three percent of women are more attracted to a person’s brains than body, slightly higher than the 78% among men,”

Surprisingly, 89% of women who have live-in partners also feel the same way.

“Among women, the proportion of those who prefer brains over body is highest among women with live-in partners at 89%, followed by single women at 82%, and married women at 81%,”

Respondents were asked what was more important to them: money, love, or health, and most chose health.

“Overall, 72% of women prefer health over love and money, higher than the 67% among men.”

Married women preferred health more than any other group.

“Among women, the proportion of those who prefer health is highest among those who are married at 76%, followed by those with live-in partners at 72%, and those who are single at 65%. Among men, it is highest among those with live-in partners at 79%, followed by those who are single at 70%, and those who are married at 63%.”

Single people were more worried about partners with money.

“Those who prefer money are highest among single men (8%) and single women (14%).”

The respondents were also asked how happy they were with their love life.

Only 49% of women claimed to be happy with theirs, which is far from 60% of men.

“The December 2019 survey found 60% of men saying they are very happy with their love life, higher than the 49% among women”

“Among men, the proportion of those with very happy love life is highest among those who are married at 72%, followed by those with live-in partners at 64%, and those who are single at 26%. Among women, those with very happy love life are also highest among those who are married at 58%, followed by those with live-in partners at 51%, and those who are single at 26%.”

There is also good amount of people who are not in relationships that are happy with what they have.

“Those who say they have no love life are highest among single men at 57%, and single women at 50%.”
