97-year-old Grandmother Still Bears Responsibility of Taking Care of Epileptic Grandchild

It rarely happens that a human gets to age up to a hundred years old. Everyone is well-aware that not all humans are able to live their lives that long, which is why we are amazed when we hear an elderly celebrating their 100th birthday and counting.

Because of their age, it is understandable that they get weaker day by day, hence they are asked to just rest and take good care of their own selves. However, an old woman three years farther to reaching the 100-year-old mark still carries the burden of taking care of her disabled grandchild who has epilepsy.

The unfortunate situation of the grandmother was noticed by a Facebook user named Jan Leden Degay, when the woman was helping her disabled grandchild as they were walking. She posted her story on her personal account, along with the encouragement to help the grandmother and her grandchild.

According to her, when they went back to see the grandmother, she was alone and sitting in the dirt in front of her small home. In addition, her children are nowhere to be found when Degay’s group visited.

This grandmother is Sabelle Bon-nganon, who’s currently residing in Sitio Bansing, Barangay Paitan, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, with her niece and her epileptic grandchild.

They also wanted to ask her about her life, but sadly, the poor old lady cannot speak clearly anymore which is why they didn’t understand what she was saying.

Degay is asking for help in behalf of the frail woman, not financially, but in terms of their medical and basic 97needs. Also, they are knocking the hearts of those who have the means to help, to at least improve the appearance of their house which can be blown easily by the weather.

To those who have an intention to help the grandmother, you can reach out to their Facebook page: Nueva Vizcaya Youth Connection.
