An ever-changing society produces ever-changing needs. There is a growing number of people who frown on becoming desk jockeys and who feel an aversion to physically commuting to an office everyday. That, and most probably, a bad economy are driving more and more individuals to seek jobs that are uncommon or professions that weren’t even around back in our parents’ day. Perhaps you’ve already heard of personal shoppers, online tutors, and dog walkers, but even those have become quite commonplace compared to these jobs. These people get paid to spend hours standing in line. linestandings.com, an American company, provides lobbyists with professional line standers to keep their place at Congressional hearings. In a place like the Philippines, nicknamed by some as the “Republic of Pila,” these guys could make a killing. Just imagine all the lining up one has to go through to apply for driver’s licenses, NBI clearances, passports, etc. or to wait for doctors to show up at their clinics.
