Gretchen Barretto defends herself amid Nicko Falcis-Kris Aquino issue

Gretchen Barretto defends herself amid Nicko Falcis-Kris Aquino issue

  • Gretchen Barretto explained her side regarding Kris Aquino’s feud with Nicko Falcis.
  • She said that she won’t stop posting against Aquino even if other people told her to.

In her Instagram live on Friday, January 18, Gretchen Barretto expressed her opinions regarding a number of things. One of which is the ongoing feud between Kris Aquino and her former financial manager, Nicko Falcis.

According to Barretto, what Aquino did to her friend, Alice Eduardo, was infuriating. She also clarified that this is only one of the many reasons why she will continue to be against Aquino.

“Ako hindi ako nakikisawsaw sa buhay ng ibang tao kung hindi naman sinasawsaw ang buhay nila sa akin. Many times over, nagsawsaw po ang isang Kris Aquino sa buhay ko,” she stated.

“Let’s talk about the taxpayer’s money. Unang una kasi hindi naman niya binanggit kung ano ‘yung totoo. Hindi ko ibabanggit ‘yung totoo hangga’t hindi niya aminin ang totoo. Ako naman kasi, I’ve always been transparent. I don’t have reason to lie. I don’t want to lie. It’s easier to say the truth.”

She also explained the real reason why she suddenly expressed her opinions on the matter of the Falcis and Aquino feud.

“Ano ba sinasabi ng ating pinakamamahal na Drama Queen na Kris Aquino? Ang sinasabi niya nadamay siya. Hindi po siya nadamay. Dinadamay niya ang sarili niya. Kung sinasabi niyo sawsawera ako, mas sawsawera po siya. Hindi po ako nagsasawsaw sa suka kung hindi niya sinasawsaw ang kanyang buhay sa aking buhay. Ako po ay nananahimik matagal na.”

This is when the certain Alice Eduardo came in, saying that she got to pay lower taxes because Aquino helped her with Kim Henares.

“Si Alice Eduardo po, many years ago, a few years ago, had trouble with her tax. I don’t want to say it but I will say it anyway because that’s me. Ako po ‘yan. Nagkaproblema si Alice Eduardo sa tax niya po dito sa Pilipinas. She was being charged a lot. Hundreds of millions or billions of pesos po at tinulungan po ni Kris Aquino kay Kim Henares if I’m not mistaken po, para mapababa ang kanyang ibababayad kay Kim Henares o sa gobyerno po natin. ‘Yun po ang nangyari. At that time I was having tampuhan with her sister which I now I refuse to even say her name.

“Kris, kung talagang mahal mo ang Pilipino at ang buong Pilipinas sana prinotektahan mo ang mamamayang Pilipino. Because at that time na your brother “abnoy” was in power, he was the President of the Philippines. Eh ‘di ba dapat kung kailangan magbayad si Alice Eduardo ng kanyang tax na tayo mga Filipino people ang talagang, how do you say it in Tagalog, we will reap the benefits. Pero alam mo tinulungan kasi ni Kris Aquino at that time si Alice Eduardo sa kanyang tax na bumaba ang bayad sa tax niya. Alam namin ‘yun dahil pinagkakalat din ni Alice Eduardo at ng kanyang mga kapatid na tinulungan siya ni Kris Aquino at ang halaga lang daw is binabayaran lang daw ng mga pinagsha-shopping ni Gary the gay friend from L.A. Gary Garcia from L.A., parang he would buy things from the States and send it to Kris Aquino. Of course I felt so bad, because alam mo for whatever ‘yung mga pinag-sha-shopping lang, ‘yun lang? Parang ha? And she was supposed to pay a hefty amount. Doon pumupunta. Pero one of the many reasons lang ‘yun, mga kaibigan.”

Barretto then boldly stated that she’s not going to stop even if people keep on telling her to stop.

She also called Kris’ suffering as karma.

“No, I’m not going to stop. You know, I am a Filipino. We all pay taxes. We all work very hard my point is, prinotektahan ni Kris Aquino when she was in power and when she was saying, ‘I love ate Alice.’ Whatever girl, you love her so much. You know in exchange of like bags and clothes and shoes. And that’s so not fair. And right now, I hate to gloat that you’re suffering right now. I mean we don’t like that. We don’t gloat when somebody is suffering because that is karma. But right now that is what’s happening…”

Independent Data Shows BIR’s Online System Inaccessible in Half of PH Computers

Independent Data Shows BIR’s Online System Inaccessible in Half of PH Computers

Independent research firm StatCounter revealed that the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s electronic system is inaccessible in half of the computers in the country, as reported by GMA News.

The BIR’s Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) and Electronic BIR Forms (eBIRForms) are compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, or higher. However, the analytics firm found out that only 53% of all operating systems including desktop and mobile in the country utilize such systems as of March 2015.

Despite heavy criticisms, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares insisted that compatibility shouldn’t be an issue  since majority of computers in the country run Windows.

“Pumunta na lang siguro sila sa Internet cafe. Kasi ang karamihan (ng tao) ay may Windows,”  Henares said in a live TV interview.

They should just go to an Internet cafe. Most people have Windows.

With the BIR aiming for a paperless tax system, Sen. Bam Aquino, investigative journalist Raissa Robles as well as computer programmers and IT experts have criticised several technical problems met by the new system.

Other Issues

In developing areas in the country, most people access the Internet through a mobile device. Instead of using desktops, people use the much cheaper Android smartphones or tablets. This is why mobile platform Android OS accounts for 20% of users, something that BIR failed to consider.

Paolo Barazon, a Manila-based software developer said that filling out the BIR forms in an Internet cafe poses cybersecurity risks for the user as well as the owner of the cafe. Users become at risk to potential spyware in the Internet cafe.

“Sino bang Internet cafe owner ang papayag na their customers will install software without their knowledge? That’s a valid concern that Henares can’t simply brush off,” Barazon added.

Moreover, Barazon pointed out the old-school design of the eFPS system which is “best viewed with Internet Explorer versions 6 and up; or Mozilla Firefox 2 and up; or with Netscape versions 6 and up; and with 800×600 or higher resolution.”

According to Barazon, the specific versions of browsers are already old or obsolete.

As of March 2015, 62.54% of computer users use Google Chrome as reported by StatCounter.

Show Me the Money! Top Ten Taxpayers in the Philippines

Show Me the Money! Top Ten Taxpayers in the Philippines

Tax is defined as a compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers’ income and business profits or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions, that is, according to Google. But to the common population, a tax is like a burden. Especially for a third world country which does not have the benefits that are worth the common man’s tax, people frown upon this three letter word.

In the recent years, Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) commissioner Kim Henares has been making news by reminding rich people to pay taxes, especially World-class boxer, Manny Pacquiao. And now, with his upcoming bout with Floyd Mayweather, Henares already gave an early “reminder” for the boxer to promptly pay his taxes.

However, Pacquiao is not alone, among the richest of the Filipino people, we have found other taxpayers that pay tax some people cannot even earn in their lifetime. Kim Henares loves them! Yes, they are the country’s top ten taxpayers. Based from the BIR’s Open Data on the Top 500 individual taxpayers in the Philippines as of November 24, 2014, let’s find out who is on Kim Henares watchlist.

These individuals, we assume, made the most money than any other individuals in the Philippines. And with insanely high amount they have paid the country (and with the taxes we pay as well), we hope the government can utilize the money we earned sweat and blood.

So, have you paid your taxes yet?
