Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi’s efforts paid off at MMFF 2022

Alawi and Ganda’s ‘Partners In Crime’ have the most ticket sales among the 8 official entries.

The 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival has been eventful so far based on the photos and videos of crowded malls posted on social media.

Alawi and Ganda’s ‘Partners In Crime’ had the most ticket sales among the 8 official entries. The film was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films. On the first day, it raked in P31 million.

Vice Ganda admitted that he wanted to be number one.

He noted that none of his movies flopped and he plans to maintain the momentum. Six of his films are among the top 10 highest-grossing MMFF films, with 2018’s Fantastica taking the top spot with P596 million.

Despite having a successful track record, he is still nervous about how moviegoers will rate ‘Partners In Crime’.

While at SM City Cebu, Vice was mobbed by fans.

On December 20, Vice held a motorcade in Manila to promote the film. The Manila motorcade started at Chinese General Hospital and ended on Tabora Street. He thanked everyone who came.

“Maraming maraming salamat sa mga kapitbahay ko at sa lahat ng mga Manileño na nag-abang, kumaway, sumigaw, nag i love you at ngumiti sakin kanina sa #PartnersInCrime motorcade. Nakakagalak as ennnnn! Merry Christmas! I love you!,” Vice captioned his Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Ivana’s strong following on social media also helped the movie sell tickets.

Ivana earlier said that she was so excited to work with Vice Ganda whom she always watched on television. Alawi admitted that she was so happy and excited when this project was offered to her. She said she did not even ask about the storyline.

All she wanted was to work with Vice Ganda; a big achievement for her.

I’m very thankful to ABS-CBN for the chance and opportunity given to me to work in Partners in Crime. Dream come true for me to work with Vice. Before kasi, I merely watched him on the big screen. Pangarap ko lang to work with him, pero ngayon, nagkatotoo na,” she added.

The sexy actress/vlogger also felt the pressure as one of the stars of the film. She said she enjoyed so much working with film director Cathy Molina since she learned so much from her. Both Vice Ganda and Director Molina have given her a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”; for which she is very grateful.

Alawi also emphasized the difference between acting and vlogging; in the film, you portray a character, and in the vlog, you show your real self. She also added, “I love helping people and I do that through my vlog. So, I will still continue doing my vlog.”
