During the recent contract signing ceremony with ABS-CBN, actress Kathryn Bernardo shared a touching story of her commitment to helping a former ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ batchmate in completing their college education.
The revelation came from director Edgar Mortiz, who praised Bernardo for her generosity and kindness.
The ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ director commended Bernardo for her discreet support to a fellow alum of the children’s comedy show. He revealed the heartwarming story during a video message, expressing his admiration for Kathryn Bernardo’s compassionate actions.
The touching narrative unfolded when Mortiz encountered the mother of a ‘Bulilit’ graduate whose father had passed away. The mother disclosed that during a challenging period, Bernardo extended financial assistance to her child to pursue higher education.
“Tuwang-tuwa ako na, hindi pala siya nakalimot sa mga kasama niya. Proud na proud ako kay Kathryn,” Mortiz shared, highlighting Bernardo’s commitment to supporting her fellow ‘Bulilit’ alum during difficult times.
Though the name of the batchmate was not disclosed by Bernardo, she reminisced about the camaraderie they shared during their time on ‘Goin’ Bulilit.’ She explained that the decision to offer assistance was based on a promise she and her mother made to the late father of her batchmate.
“During that time, the dad, naging kaibigan namin ni Mama, alam mo ‘yun sabay kakain and then for a time nag-stop mag-artista ‘yung tao na ‘to and naka-receive kami ng message from the mom na ito ‘yung nangyari sa dad tsaka ‘di na rin siya nag-artista,” she said.
The promise was to support the child’s aspiration to complete college due to their academic excellence.
“Bilang nakasama mo, siyempre tutulong ka hangga’t kaya mo. ‘Yun ‘yung ni-promise namin ni Mama sa dad niya na tutulungan ka namin kasi ito ‘yung isa sa dreams ng dad niya sa kanya, na makatapos ng college because he’s so smart and alam mo rin ‘yung mga tao na masarap tulungan kasi masipag.”
Amidst the emotional revelation, Kathryn Bernardo emphasized that her decision to renew her exclusive contract with ABS-CBN goes beyond professional ties. It is a reaffirmation of her love for the network and the people within it.
Bernardo expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN executives for their unwavering support, acknowledging their understanding and encouragement in both her career and personal life decisions.
