Long-standing Urban Myth Involving John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao Resurfaces Following Their Meeting in Switzerland

Yet, it was not their film’s screening that generated buzz this time. Instead, it was the revival of an age-old rumor that has intrigued many for years.

The intriguing urban legend revolving around John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao has once again captured public attention, gaining fresh momentum after a photograph of the two celebrities together in Switzerland circulated widely across social media.

John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao made a joint appearance at the 76th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where their movie “Essential Truths of the Lake” was showcased as part of the Concorso Internazionale, the festival’s main competition section.

This event, running until August 12, features the only Southeast Asian film included in the primary competition, as noted by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Yet, it was not their film’s screening that generated buzz this time. Instead, it was the revival of an age-old rumor that has intrigued many for years.

In 2010, during a period when John Lloyd and Shaina were in a relationship, rumors began circulating that the couple had been urgently taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, their entwined bodies concealed beneath a blanket, after struggling to disentangle themselves following an intimate moment.

Although the initial account refrained from explicitly mentioning the pair, public speculation promptly centered on John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao as the subjects of the tale.

Shaina addressed this rumor during a press conference in 2010, expressing her exasperation with the tenacious myth and asserting that, had the incident truly transpired, tangible evidence would undoubtedly have emerged to substantiate the claims. She expressed incredulity that some people still cling to the story.

In a video interview uploaded in 2010, Shaina emphatically debunked the rumor as unfounded and outlandish. She shared her bewilderment at how such an unfounded tale could gain traction in the absence of any concrete proof, particularly in the digital age when information is readily accessible.

While Shaina logically pointed out that any such occurrence would likely have left a trail of physical evidence or documentation, the myth had taken on a life of its own, fueled by online discussions and the public’s fascination with the lives of celebrities.

Despite Shaina’s resolute explanations and the lack of credible evidence, the myth persists among numerous netizens, underscoring the enduring power of urban legends within the contemporary landscape of swift information sharing and social media engagement.
