Ogie Diaz reacts to a suggestion of making Toni Gonzaga an endorser of Facebook

A post by a Facebook page named Atty. Larry Gadon 2022 went viral after it said that Facebook should also follow in Shopee’s footsteps and have Gonzaga endorse the company.

Ogie Diaz, on October 3, responded to a page dedicated to failed senatorial candidate Atty. Larry Gadon, which said Facebook should also hire controversial TV host Toni Gonzaga as one of its endorsers.

E-commerce website Shopee recently announced Gonzaga as its latest endorser. The move received backlash after the company recently laid off workers in the country.

Aside from that, Gonzaga is an active enabler of the current Administration. Netizens urged each other to uninstall the Shopee app and switch to its rival shopping app, Lazada.

Gonzaga’s supporters defended her from critics and said that the reasons for bashing the actress were petty more than anything.

Mga Katropa Sana kunin din si Toni Gonzaga ng Facebook bilang endorser para magsilayasan na yung mga ‘BOB*’ dito sa fb,” it said.

Facebook never had a history of employing endorsers or celebrities. It remains the biggest social media platform and has nearly three billion active users.

Diaz, an avid follower of Philippine politics, decided to respond to the post.

Gonzaga seemed to be unfazed by the criticism. At an event, she thanked her bashers for providing more attention to the partnership with Shopee.

“We are grateful because we [have been] trending since yesterday and today. We are grateful to our netizens for the mentions, and the engagements. We are grateful for them because they are also one of the reasons why we are here where we are today,” Gonzaga said at the launch.

Former Shopee sellers also accused the company of not prioritizing them.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga’s new program Toni on AllTV aired every Monday to Friday, 5 pm.
