Boyz II Men member Wanya Morris congratulates Khimo Gumatay for winning ‘Idol Philippines’ Season 2

Even before he got eventually declared as the season 2 grand winner of Idol Philippines, Khimo Gumatay was already earning attention from the international scene.

The latest Kapamilya singing champion shared a clip of the Boyz II Men vocalist, commending him for his performance and congratulating him for winning Idol Philippines Season 2.

Even before he got eventually declared as the season 2 grand winner of Idol Philippines, Khimo Gumatay was already earning attention from the international scene. Last September 11, 2022, he performed a stellar rendition of Boyz II Men’s End of the Road. Not only did he make all four judges pay him with a standing ovation, but he also won the hearts of the viewers and the netizens. He earned a 96.13% combined judges and public voting score, placing him third among all the finalists.

It can be recalled that the Boyz II Men singer already expressed his support for Gumatay when he sang Brian McKnight’s One Last Cry in August. Following Khimo’s End of the Road performance, Morris took to Instagram to personally greet Gumatay and commend him for his exemplary rendition of his band’s classic hit. “Congratulations. We’re all rooting for you. Bring that trophy home. God bless you, mahal kita,” he said in a clip.

Gumatay reposted the clip on his Instagram profile and he acknowledged the American singer for noticing his performance. “From the one and only @wanyamorris of @boyziimen. Thank you so much sir and God bless you” his post reads.

Last night, September 18, Morris posted another Instagram story where he congratulated Gumatay for eventually bagging the second Idol Philippines championship title.

Gumatay takes home a set of ambitious prizes including a recording contract from ABS-CBN Music, a house and lot from Camella, a three-million peso worth of franchise package from Dermacare, and a one-million peso cash prize.
