Contrary to her firm’s claim on its website, Liza Araneta-Marcos has no record of membership in the NYSBA since 1920.
Not even once in the past 100 years did a certain Louise Araneta-Marcos ever become a member of the New York State Bar Association.
This was confirmed by the New York Attorney General’s office, in its response to an inquiry made by a netizen, which asked for the veracity of the claim of Araneta-Marcos’s office.
Manila Bulletin’s Tonyo Cruz shared on his twitter post a screenshot of the NYS-OCA’s response to the inquiry. “Whether under maiden or married name, the spouse of the dictator’s son has: “no record … in the New York bar since 1920” his tweet reads.
The attached photo also showed the full response of the Attorney General’s office, which confirms that the aspiring First Lady was never admitted to the bar.

Another netizen shared another response from the NYSBA denying Araneta-Marcos’s claim.
The response to the inquiry reads: “At this time, our records show that Louise Marie Araneta-Marcos is not a member of our Association.”

Another twitter user named Ansel Adriano shed light on the membership qualifications of NYSBA, “Also, and to be fair, membership in the NYS Bar Assn is open to graduates or students of law schools around the world.
“You don’t need to be admitted to the practice of law in the State of NY to join.” he tweeted.

Most netizens are not surprised in finding out the news.
Sef Cadorna, for example, noted how many of the Marcoses are accused of having fake credentials. “Pamilya ng puro peke ang credentials. Malamang peke din diploma nung anak. (A family of fake credentials. Likely, their kids’ diplomas are also fake)” he said.

Liza Marcos-Araneta, or any member of the Marcos camp, including Bongbong, is yet to comment on the issue.
