Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes endorses VP Leni Robredo as President

He also got spotted in the massively-attended Pasig laban rally held for the Leni-Kiko tandem, in Pasig, on March 20.

The five-time PBA Coach-of-the-Year officially declared support for the presidential bid of vice president Leni Robredo.

“Puso ay ang pagmamahal sa bayan na nakikita sa mga gawaing nakakaangat ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan (Heart is the love for one’s country that is seen through acts that better the lives of our countrymen),” said Talk N’ Txt and Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes, in a video he posted on his social media accounts, on Monday, April 18.

Puso ay ang tapang. The courage to never give up no matter the odds. Maski siraan ka na, maski pinipilit ka nilang pinapabagsak, just never, never ever give up (Heart is the courage to never give up no matter the odds. Whether they try to taint your reputation, or bring you down…you just don’t give up),” he added.

Using familiar terms in sports, the multi-awarded basketball coach articulated his thoughts on the qualities of a leader, and why it is Robredo who perfectly embodies those qualities.

Hindi pa tapos ang laban. Last 2 minutes na at wala na tayong time-out. Kaya ngayon, kailangan natin ng teamwork. Magtulungan tayo upang maipagmalaki natin sa mundo na tayo ay Pilipino. Ako si Chot Reyes, buong pusong lumalaban at tumataya para kay Leni Robredo (The fight is not over yet. We have two minutes left and we don’t get another time out. That’s why team work is a must. Let’s unite so that we can be proud being Filipinos. I am Chot Reyes, and I wholeheartedly fight for and take my chance on Leni Robredo),” he said.

Reyes took note of Robredo’s initiatives and programs that make her the suitable president the nation deserves.

Mapa bagyo, lindol, sakuna, pandemic, ano pa man yan, puso ay nakikita sa mabilisang pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan ano man ang kailangan,” (May it be storm, earth quake, disaster, or pandemic, whatever that is, the heart is seen through the prompt response to the needs of our countrymen).”

Reyes is the second Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) coach to back Robredo’s presidential bid after Yeng Guiao of NLEX Road Warriors.

He also got spotted in the massively-attended Pasig laban rally held for the Leni-Kiko tandem, in Pasig, on March 20.
