LOOK: Leni Robredo-Kiko Pangilinan tandem did not campaign inside a church contrary to what trolls said

During the visit, Robredo said she and her late husband always saw the church as a partner “to do good and to bring good”

It has been confirmed that Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan did not campaign inside a church.

Trolls used photos of Robredo and Pangilinan giving a speech in a religious institution to accuse them of using religion for political purposes. Netizens took the bait and proceeded to pounce on the tandem.

Photos show people wearing pink in support of both politicians’ candidacies.

However, Fact Check Philippines did its job and educated the masses on what really transpired.

Apparently, Vicar General for Pastoral Affairs ng Diocese of Novaliches Rev. Father Tony Labiao, Diocese of Novaliches Bishop Roberto Gaa, and other religious leaders invited the team for a prayer at the Novaliches Cathedral.

During the visit, Robredo said she and her late husband always saw the church as a partner “to do good and to bring good.”

“For a very long time, kami pong mag-asawa noong buhay pa ‘yung asawa ko, ‘yung paniniwala po namin na ‘yung simbahan, napakalaking force para maging partner siya ng pamahalaan to do good and to bring good,”

She noted that her main goals include the promotion of people empowerment and transparency.

“Pero hindi po namin kaya ito without all of you. And ‘pag sinabi ko pong help, hindi natatapos ‘yung help sa kampanya. Pero ang help po sa kampanya is only a vehicle. Pero mas malaking help ang kailangan namin sa inyo ‘pag kami nakaupo na,

“Sana maging able partner kayo ng pamahalaan para ayusin na natin once and for all ‘yung klase ng pamahala at politika na namamayani sa bayan natin.” she added.

The Naga native asked the group to also fight against disinformation.

She also asked the group’s help in fighting disinformation.

“Wag po natin aawayin ‘yung mga naniniwala sa fake news. Kasi paminsan, hindi naman nila kasalanan dahil ‘yung access din po nila sa information ay ‘yung masyadong limited,”

Robredo’s stock can only go up after her performance at the CNN Philippines Presidential Debate when she impressed the undecided and locked in the skeptical.
