Vice Ganda vows to never be poor again

The comedian clarified that though his hobbies include shopping, he makes sure that he doesn’t exceed the budget.

Comedian and It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda admitted that he has tried regulating his expenses more as he never wants to experience being poor again.

During an interview with Preview, he shared that though he slightly lessened his shopping sprees, he still made sure to treat himself. But he reminds himself that he has a budget for his purchases as he has other responsibilities as well.

“Hindi na siya as lala as before. Dati talaga ang lala, eh. Especially when I finished the house, nung binayaran ko na lahat ng kailangan kong bayaran sa house, tapos wala naman na akong pagkakagastusan,” said Vice.

“May bahay na ‘ko, may sasakyan na ‘ko, okay naman na ‘yung family ko. Sabi ko kung ano na lang ‘yung mga little things na makakapagpasaya sa akin, I will purchase.”

The comedian clarified that though his hobbies include shopping, he makes sure that he doesn’t exceed the budget. He always converts and counts his expenses to make sure that he won’t spend half of his income in a day.

He then declared that the only time he will stop shopping if he starts to feel like he’s getting poorer. That is something he doesn’t want to experience again.

“I still buy, kasi one, it gives me joy and why not give myself joy? Second, it does not affect my finances.

“Di ko pa naman siya ikinahihirap, if it will make me stylish but poor, I will stop. I want to be stylish, but I don’t want to be poor. I will never be poor again. I try to be very smart when spending.”

Vice Ganda’s rags to riches story started when he grew seeing his parents sell rugs in order for the whole family to survive.

When he was a teenager, his father was murdered and his mother needed to be an overseas Filipino worker. Despite the circumstances, Vice decided to push for his dreams of becoming a host by working in comedy bars. The opportunity to host It’s Showtime came when he had a hurado stint on a talent show.
