Enrique Gil can always count on his brother to be there for him whenever he needed him. Javier Gil, or simply known as Javi, defended the actor’s long-time girlfriend Liza Soberano from a Netizen who went after the actress for criticizing the government.
Someone by the name of Nafson Tolentino had strong advice for Liza following her questioning of the government’s effort on helping Filipinos amid the pandemic.
She asked if the country is poor to provide the public with stimulus checks, something the US has done twice already.
“They literally have to choose between dying of starvation or dying of COVID. Is our country really this poor to not be able to provide stimulus?? Genuine question lang po,” she wrote.
She also pointed out that the vaccination program in the US is free.
Nafson, who is probably a supporter of the Duterte administration, told the actress to first do her research before speaking out.
“Dear Liza, Totoo naman maganda ka, pero sana marunong ka mag research at aral aral muna. Baka hindi mo alam kung gaano kalaki utang ng USA sa mga sinasabi mo. Madali ka naman makapunta at maging citizen bakit di mo gawin para maubos kayamanan mo dito sa Pinas dahil kakainin lang ng Tax yan dun. -Madalas talaga ang beauty and brain hindi sila partner,” he wrote on Facebook.
Javi had to check him, saying that Liza knows what she was talking about because she too is a US citizen.
“Actually bro alam niya yung situation ng US dahil US citizen din siya. kakauwi lang niya dito sa ‘pinas galing dun. Tax payer din siya,” he replied.
Nafson apologized but said it would be better not to compare the Philippines to the US, knowing that the Western state has far more debt.
Javi saw no problem with Nafson’s advice to Liza, and commended her for sharing her thoughts.
He had to let Nafson know that Liza, who has millions in her bank account, came from nothing and is now able to feed two families.
He disagreed that Liza only has beauty and no brains when she is currently working to get that master’s degree.
“She has more brains than most of us here,” Javi said.
Another Netizen then replied to Nafson’s post, which garnered a comment from him.
In Nafson’s response, he referred to Liza as Gil’s fiancee.
But the couple is not engaged after all. In a Tweet, Liza made it clear that she’d be “loud and proud” if Enrique proposed to her.
