10 Filipino Celebrity Weddings that touched our hearts in 2020

These couples proved that not even a looming pandemic can stop them from tying the knot.

2020 has been an odd year for everyone, including celebrity couples. Dozens of them changed their wedding plans because of COVID-19.

These ten celebrities, however, either beat the clock or pushed through the adversity, all in an effort to prove that not even a deadly virus can stop their love from lasting forever.

Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Mikael Daez were one of the few couples to officially tie the knot before the country was placed under quarantine in March. It was a fairly intimate wedding in Calaruega on January 10, attended only by 10 of their loved ones.

Multi-hyphenate Joyce Pring (she’s a host, actress, singer, former MYX VJ, has a podcast, a successful blog, etc.) and Kapuso actor Juancho Triviño tied the knot last February 9 with a select group of both celebrity and non-celebrity guests at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel in Pasay City.

Mr. and Mrs. G officially tied the knot last February 20 in the presence of family and friends. While the couple has been doing well as husband and wife, their wedding was marred with controversy when Matteo reportedly punched a bodyguard for allowing Mommy Divine to attend the rites even if she wasn’t invited.

Sheena Halili and Jeron Manzanero

Starstruck alum Sheena Halili tied the knot with her lawyer fiancé Jeron Manzanero last February 23 at the Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City. In attendance were a couple of their celebrity friends, including Maine Mendoza, Dingdong and Marian Rivera-Dantes, Katrina Halili, and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.

Long-time couple Mica Javier and RnB singer JayR officially tied the knot on March 1 at what is probably the top beach wedding destination in the country: Boracay. Yes, the amazing Boracay sunset was included in the musically-inclined couple’s wedding. We’re officially jealous.

KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde

This wedding took people by surprise as they were officially hitched on August 28 in a very low-key wedding in Batangas, but people only knew about it in October. For us, that’s a way-to-go-KZ if we’ve ever seen one.

Maritoni Fernandez and Mon Dayrit

“Nothing fancy. Just love.” It’s a very apt description of how Barley Queen and breast cancer survivor Maritoni Fernandez tied the knot with her long-time partner Mon Dayrit. Their simple civil ceremony happened last July 7, with only their kids Liam Sarmiento, Julian, and Diego Dayrit in attendance.

Fourth Solomon and Grizelle Gratela

PBB alum Fourth Solomon finally decided to tie the knot with long-time girlfriend Grizelle Gratela at what was one of the few celebrity weddings to push through after quarantine. The safe and simple wedding, which saw the couple wearing face masks throughout the ceremony, happened last August 27 at Las Casas in Quezon City.

Bianca Guidotti and Greggy Santos

The Barkies officially tied the knot last October 11. The 2014 Binibining Pilipinas-International said “I do” to her long-time partner in an intimate wedding witnessed only by their closest family members.
