Dennis Trillo believes the pandemic makes his relationship with Jennylyn Mercado stronger

Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo talk “Truly. Madly. Deadly,” share realizations amid pandemic

Showbiz couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado’s relationship is stronger than ever amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Dennis told us during the zoom conference that their relationship today feels “unbreakable.”

The last time they worked together was in the 2015 soap My Faithful Husband and they are currently shooting for Truly. Madly. Deadly, the last installment of GMA Network’s drama anthology, I Can See You.

Both noted the difference between lock-in taping and the old conventional procedures.

“Iba pa rin talaga. Iba pag nasa taping na araw-araw nagtatrabaho. Iba talaga, promise,” Jennylyn said.

Due to the fear of COVID-19, the artists have to constantly observe physical distancing.

“Sa aming dalawa wala. [Pero] sa mga katrabaho namin meron. Hindi pwedeng walang face shield, mask. Tapos palaging may alcohol sa bulsa, social distancing pag hindi nagtetake,” she added.

Dennis is fine with it since he and Jennylyn are allowed to be close to each other.

“Mejo nakakapanibago, pero mabuti na lang na kaming dalawa yung magkasama sa kwarto ganun. So masaya pa rin,” he said.

“Iba na yung pamamaraan ng taping ngayon. Mas iniisip nila yung safety ng lahat,” he added.

Dennis now feels like they can overcome any obstacle that may come their way because nothing is worse than the pandemic.

“Kahit ano pang dumaan sa buhay namin, kaya na naming malagpasan.

“Wala ng titindi pa dito sa pinagdadaanan natin ngayon, so pagnalagpasan mo ‘to ibigsabihin  lahat kaya mo na,” he said.

Jennylyn said she doesn’t value materials things that much anymore. The pandemic made her realize that family members and loved ones are more important.

“Halos ngayon pantay-pantay talaga lahat ng tao dito sa pinagdadaanan natin. Dito mo marerealize na ang pinakaimportante pala ay yung mga bagay na nandyan lang sa paligid mo, yung pamilya mo, mga mahal mo sa buhay.

“Marerealize mo na yung mga material things hindi na importante. Ang importante safe kayo, healthy kayo, [at] masaya kayo,” she said.

The new mini-series excites the couple because it is not the typical love story.

“Hindi ito yung pangkaraniwang love team. Ito parang mas pinakita yung human side ng bawat character. Wala naman talagang tao purong mabait,” Dennis said.

A darker side will be displayed by the characters, which the couple has never done prior to getting their respective roles.

“Masaya kami lalo na katrabaho ko si Jen dito, nabigyan kame ng ganitong klaseng role na medyo dark. First time namin magkaroon kaya mas lalo kaming na excite,” he added.

Jennylyn plays a woman named Coleen who moves to a different city to start a new life after she gets involved in a scandal with a married man. She begins working at a remote resort where she meets Drew who has a career in information technology. Coleen’s ex-best friend turned enemy Abby, who is played by Rhian Ramos, then shows up at the resort which triggers the former’s bad memories.

Dennis and Jennylyn found it challenging to go back to acting following a 7-month break.

They broke up in 2011 and rumors of them getting back together surfaced in 2015. This year, Jennylyn said in an interview that Dennis is her “greatest love.”
