“Walang kaarte-arte.” A husband’s post about his wife goes viral

• A husband’s post about his wife went viral on Facebook.
• He showed his wife helping with the construction of their apartment building which has been their big investment. 

A Facebook post of a flying doctor named Erwin Conrad Abueva became viral as he proudly showcased his wife’s resiliency.

Erwin performed two frontline duties in one day – one piloting a Pan Pacific flight to pick up repatriated Filipinos in East Timor and in the evening he performed his duties as a doctor in a hospital.

But he’s not in it alone. The post was actually about his wife named Meriam Santiago Abueva, whom he said he’s very proud of.

Meriam is a senior flight attendant at the Philippine Airlines. Same with many Filipinos, they experienced hardships. The couple came face to face with a hurdle regarding the construction of their apartment which is their big investment.

The COVID-19 crisis affected their finances as flights were canceled during the pandemic.

“The past 4 months have been difficult to many and the cabin crew is not exempted from the crisis brought upon by the CoViD19 pandemic. The airline industry is hard hit and many flight attendants are not earning for many months now,” Erwin wrote.

Their apartment also made minimal progress as only a few workers can work on it at a time because of the quarantine. They had to temporarily cease the construction.

But Meriam is far from giving up when it comes to their potential business. With no hesitation, she picked up the shovel and worked alongside the construction workers whenever she had no flights.

The mother of four does everything from cementing the walls to handling heavy equipment like the jackhammer. She performs woodwork, too. Her passion and perseverance to reach her goal inspired others to never give up.

“She does not mind the dirt and the physical stress from the chores she’s doing. She amazes me every day!” Erwin described his wife.

“Walang kaarte-arte sa katawan pagdating sa construction works! Respect to the queen of our home, my lovely wife, and wonderful mother of our children.”
