Janice de Belen experienced anxiety during lockdown period; has a message to Congress about ABS-CBN franchise renewal

“Nung first two weeks may anxiety ako, as in hindi ko alam na anxiety na yung nararamdaman ko,” she said.

Janice de Belen admitted that she experienced anxiety attacks during the first two weeks of the lockdown. She also gave a message to Congressmen who are for and against the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.

Janice answered questions asked by Ogie Diaz during a Facebook live on the latter’s FB account.

Ogie started out by asking Janice what she did for the past three months while on lockdown. The actress replied that she was able to rest since she had no work.

“Nakapahinga ako, in fairness. Dati kasi natutulog ako late na, mga alas dos, alas tres ng madaling araw kakanood ng TV. Syempre dahil wala naman akong ginagawang iba sa araw, maaga-aga na akong nakakatulog,” Janice said.

[I was able to rest. Before, I sleep at two or three AM in the morning because of watching TV. Of course, since I am not doing anything in the morning, I sleep earlier now]

Ogie then asked Janice if there’s any positive effect created by COVID-19. Janice then said that the positive thing is that she’s able to spend time with her children.

“Ang saya kasi for me for the past two years na nagwo-work si Moira (her daughter), luxury para makasama yung mga anak ko, na sabay-sabay kame kumain,” the actress replied.

[I’m so happy because for the past two years that Moira is working, it is luxury if I will be able to eat together with my children]

“Ngayon nakakasama ko sila lagi kumakain” she added.

[Now, I always eat with them]

Ogie asked the actress if she ever experienced anxiety attacks with what was happening in the country.

Janice admitted that she has experienced anxiety attacks during the first two weeks of lockdown.

“Nung first two weeks may anxiety ako, as in hindi ko alam na anxiety na yung nararamdaman ko,” she said.

[In the first two weeks, I had anxiety. I don’t know that it is already anxiety]

“Pilit kong dini-deny sa sarili ko eh, pilit ko siyang dini-deny kasi parang feeling ko baka today lang ito.”

[I kept on denying it to myself (that I have anxiety attacks) because I thought that I’m just under the weather]

The actress said that different news about COVID-19 somehow triggered her anxiety attack.

She also had many thoughts and questions that kept her worried.

“Naiisip ko, walang trabaho, paano ‘to hanggang kelan. Naiisip ko na magbabayad ako ng kuryente, kailangan ko maggrocery,” Janice said.

“Pa’no kami, pa’no yung mga kasambahay ko, pa’no yung mga pamilya nila, pa’ano yung driver ko, dito nakatira sa akin ang daddy ko, pa’no yung mga apo ko?” she added.

Ogie questioned Janice if she was able to overcome her anxiety and the actress then confirms that she did.

“Oo. nanonood na ako ng news ulit,” she said.

[Yes, I watch the news again]

“Natanggap na ng sistema ko na eto tayo, for now,” she added.

[My system accepted our situation, for now]

Janice then reiterated the importance of following the protocols set by the government since we are battling with an “unseen” enemy.

Talking about the “unseen’ enemy, Ogie then asked Janice, “Nakikita mo yung kalaban sa congress?

Janice then replied that she sees a lot of enemies.

“Kasi naintidihan ko yung tanong eh, naintindihan ko rin yung sagot, so parang, ako lang ba nakakaintindi? Ako ba yung mali?” she said.

“Naguguluhan na rin ako” she added.

Janice then expressed her gratitude to the Congressmen who stand with ABS-CBN for the franchise renewal.

“Kung sampu yan kalaban mo, at tatatlo lang kayo, at least may tatlo kayo.”

[If you ten enemies, and there are only three of you, at least there are three of you]

For those against the franchise renewal, she believes that today is not the right time as people need to earn a living due to COVID-19.

“Everybody is trying, baka they can try to understand also,” the actress said.

The actress also said that at this kind time of the pandemic, we need entertainment and news and ABS-CBN would have been a great source of it.
