Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. drew the ire of many netizens after he threw a harsh expletive at an Inquirer reporter who tweeted that President Duterte had skipped the closing ceremony of the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in Nonthaburi, Thailand on Monday, November 4.

“Uh, did you get the putangina I sent you? That’s the last event, purely ceremonial and short. Jokowi had left, Mahathir too,” Locsin tweeted Jhesset Enano on Tuesday, November 5.

Enano was assigned to cover the attendance of the President at the summit.

She had tweeted a photograph of the closing event with a caption: “LOOK: Foreign affairs Teodoro Locsin Jr. @teddyboylocsin sits with other world leaders at the closing ceremony of the 35th Asean Summit in Thailand. President Duterte appears to have skipped this event too.”

Locsin retweeted Enano’s post with an explanation of why the President failed to attend the last ceremony.

“One event you shet & just ceremony. If he didn’t catch the plane’s takeoff at 7 p.m. he’d be stuck,” Locsin said.

“He left at 6 p.m. after Asean-Japan Summit, bilats with Japan, 3 hours of East Asia Summit – since he spoke first, he stayed til last spoke as a courtesy. Others stepped out,” he added.

A lot of netizens expressed support for Enano, while they slammed Locsin for his derogatory remark.

Some netizens even asked for his resignation.

A colleague of Enano, Inquirer reporter Marlon Ramos wrote: “Hi sir! Kailangan nyo po ba talaga maging ganyan kabastos?! She’s just doing her job as a journalist. You’re nothing but a cheap copycat of your devil boss. Nga pala, putangina ka din gago! Wala kang pinagkatandaan! PAKYU HINDOT KA KUPAL!!!”

He added: “Pinapasweldo ka lang buwis namin gago. Kaya ayusin mo yang trabaho mo. Tangna ka uli, kupal!”

Other netizens said, “She is just doing her job as a journalist which something that you don’t do. Yep your job.”

“Putanginang Foreign Secretary to. Eto lang ang gagong DFA secretary sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. Putangina kakahiya ka hayup.”

“Wow dignitary ng Pinas yan. Go Teddy!! Show the world what an honorable Filipino diplomat is — parang yung presidente na pinaglilingkuran nya, can’t make a point without using ‘putangina.'”
