A netizen posted a short but sincere thank you message dedicated to his boyfriend. “Flex ko lang yung boyfriend ko. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord kasi binigay ka niya sakin. I love you. Thank you sa surprise gift,” Maki said in his tweet.
In a screenshot attached, he expressed how he was stressed over the disappointing result of the project he had been working on. This caused him to feel down and hopeless.
“I felt my efforts were wasted and I’m running out of ideas as well. I have been anxious the whole day and I almost cry because I am frustrated with myself.”

He decided to put all his frustrations inside the gym and that’s where he got a text message from his boyfriend, Erwin. The latter was asking about the former’s shoe size. Maki said that he did not expect that his boyfriend would give him a birthday gift but it turned out that it was the shoe he was eyeing for quite some time.
“Honestly it was my first time to receive a birthday present from someone special,” Maki said. “My birthday this year is extra special because of him. Thank you, Bie. I wasn’t expecting dahil ikaw lang sapat na. Ikaw ang pinakamagandang nangyari sa buhay ko ngayong taon. I love you.”
When we asked Maki about their backstory, he shared that at the start of the year, he read somewhere that people who were born in the year of the dragon would have luck when it comes to love. And without expecting anything, he tweeted about wanting a museum date since he has yet to experience one.
It was a surprise to him that a guy messaged him right after. The guy asked him about which museum he wanted to visit and directly said that he would date him if their schedule permits.
“Didn’t know na nagmessage na sakin dati pa pero di ko lang nabasa until I followed his account kung saan dun nagumpisa lahat. He is the first guy to message me and tbh 6 dm’s (ganda ko dito) yung natanggap ko asking to take me out on a museum date,” he wrote.
They began regularly messaging each other after that. One day, Maki told Erwin that instead of a museum date, it looks like it would be more fun to eat Samgyupsal in Pampanga instead. But when Maki told his friends that there was a possibility that he would meet up with this guy, his friends told him to give it more time.
“I didn’t listen to them. I have trouble sleeping after the accident normally 5 or 6am na ako nakakatulog pero Friday night nakatulog ako maaga kasi I am excited to go to Pampanga ng Saturday. Dami tumatakbo sa isip ko. Baka pauwiin niya ako ng Manila or di ako siputin,”
When he arrived in Pampanga, Erwin picked him up at the terminal and immediately met the latter’s parents.
“Nasabi ko sa sarili ko nung nakita ko siya shet ang gwapo. I was quiet habang pauwi kami sa kanila kasi kinakabahan pa din ako na baka napangitan siya sakin at pauwiin na lang ako. Pero winelcome agad ako ng Daddy niya at natikman ko ang sisig na luto ng Mommy niya,”
After dinner, Erwin invited Maki to go out with him. Maki noticed that Erwin had a backpack with him and asked what it was for.
““Nasanay lang ako na may dala he said’. Tapos nagpunta kami sa foodpark sa CDC grounds. Sabi niya alam ko na gusto mo BBQ and nagtaka ako sa dinami dami ng pagkain dun bakit alam niya nasa isip ko. We bought drinks, isaw, bbq, betamax lahat favorite ko. Tapos inaya niya ako somewhere grassy kung san kitang kita ang mga stars. Laman pala ng bakpack niya is mat,”
And at that time, Erwin admitted that he was the ‘EA’ that kept messaging Maki on Curiouscat. He also said that he was making moves on messenger but Maki just wouldn’t pay attention to it.
“Gusto ko maiyak nung oras na yun di ko inaakalang yung pinapangarap kung tao nasa harapan ko na ngayon. Siguro di pa talaga perfect time yung last year para kami magkakilala. Di ko maipaliwanag yung happiness ko that night. Sabi ko sa sarili ko di ko na pakakawalan to,”
Then he got to know more about Erwin like where he works out and what his mom’s business is. As the night went on, Maki gathered up the courage and asked if he could stay for another evening as he wants to talk more with his then potential lover. There was no problem at all with Erwin’s father.
“Sunday nagsimba kami pinagpanalangin ko sa Diyos sinabi ko sa kanya na hinaharap ko sa inyo yung taong nagpasaya sakin. Lagi ako nagpipray ng happiness ng ibang tao gusto ko maging selfish kahit ngayon lang at pinagpipray ko yung happiness ko.”
“Ang bilis oo pero na di na ako nagdalawang isip. Nung pauwi na kami tinanong ko siya ‘Nasa harap tayo ng simbahan let me ask you, are you ready and willing?’ Sabi niya masyado mabilis sagot ko naman sa kanya ‘it’s now or never.’ Tapos YES ang sagot. Di ko maexplain happiness ko.”
That’s when Maki decided to set every doubt free and just go for what he feels.
“I kissed him passionately to seal everything. Nawala yung doubts ko sarili ko that time na may magmamahal pa sakin or may tatanggap pa. Dinala niya ako sa roofdeck and that is where we had our first date as couple. Tawang tawa pa siya dito sakin kasi kumanta ako na mali tono,”
Maki then shared a message to his boyfriend, saying that he knows it’s not going to be easy, but he will love him with the way that he knows how.
“Mahal kita at pinagsisigawan ko sa buong twitter yun at wala akong pakialam kahit anong sabihin nila. I love you.”
