Zamboanga’s ‘little person’ has become an inspiration to many

  • His co-graduates clapped their hands during his march to receive his diploma and had become the highlight of the ceremony
  • Nograles was so inspired that it made him share Ramon’s marching video on his Instagram account
  • Holding his diploma is something he can be proud of and can help him find a job to support his family

Each one of us is unique in our own ways and sometimes that brings inspiration to everyone. Our determination to pursue our dreams defines who we are, just like Monching, despite being a “little person,” has showed his determination to graduate from college.

The Facebook page of Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) Office of Student Affairs Services shared photos of Ramon “Monching” Delos Santos, who graduated with a course of Diploma of Technology major in Electronic Technology, with the Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles taking a selfie with him.

Ramon was not the class valedictorian of his batch but because of his determination, despite being different, had inspired all his batch mates as they gave him applause while he was marching to receive his diploma, which became the highlight of the ceremony.

Seeing his photos on social media not only inspired his batch mates but also inspired the netizens as it garnered a thousand shares and reactions on Facebook. The cabinet secretary Karlo Nograles, as their guest during the graduation ceremony, was also inspired with Delos Santo that made him post a video on his Instagram account with the caption:

“Nakaka-inspire ang mga kabataang tulad ni Ramon “Monching” Delos Santos, na sa kabila ng kanyang kalagayan, ay nagtapos ng 3-year Diploma of Technology major in Electronics Technology sa Zamboanga State Polytechnic College ngayong araw.
Tunay na walang hindi kayang abutin ang sinumang pursigidong matupad ang kanyang pangarap.
Saludo ako sa iyo, Ramon.” – Nograles wrote

The Definitely Filipino Balita in an interview with Dr. Roy Velasco, one of the Delos Santos professors, said that Delos Santos can contain the happiness he had felt after receiving his diploma. Despite all the trials he had encountered, receiving his diploma is something he can be proud of as this can also help him find and apply for a job that can help to support his family.

Velasco also said that despite being a little person, the determination and perseverance that Delos Santos showed has never fallen short to compete with the other students in achieving his goals.

Truly with his success, Delos Santos is an inspiration to everyone as he has proven that success is not defined by your physical appearance.

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
