Netizens burn Joel Villanueva over his Twitter post, questioning the qualification of a Chemical Engineer

On March 18, the ABS-CBN new covers the Senate hearing finding solutions to the water shortage experience in Manila. The senators have been investigating the MWSS to address this problem.

On the middle of the Senate hearing, Senator Joel Villanueva asked Velasco of the composition of the MWSS board knowing they do not have a civil engineer. Accordingly, the MWSS board composed of two retired military men, six lawyers, and a chemical engineer.

Senator Villanueva has posted on his Twitter account saying that the government needed qualified engineers and experts in sanitation and civil works which have offended chemical engineering professionals.

A netizen who worked as a chemical engineer explains the nature of their work. That they are knowledgeable when it comes to water treatment facilities and don’t merely stay at laboratories but also do fieldwork.

Another netizen seeks the senator explanation because his statement implies that a chemical engineer is not qualified for the position.

Other have said unlike civil engineers and sanitary engineers, the chemical engineer is both competent in two different fields civil and sanitary.

The senators didn’t have any reactions but the netizens continue to blurt out their negative reaction on the Senator Villanueva Twitter post.
