Samira Gutoc slams Teddy Locsin Jr. for saying she ‘doesn’t know’ peace issues

  • Locsin has allegedly “traded” his principles to support Duterte
  • “If you think rape jokes and violence quips have nothing to do with peace, then I rest my case.”
  • Duterte’s rants against Catholic bishops are not alleviating the peace problem either

Samira Gutoc, a Maranao civic leader and former member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission, hits Foreign Affairs secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. for having unfavorable remarks against her on Twitter.

It was on Samira’s Twitter account where a report that President Rodrigo Duterte is part of the peace problem was posted. She meant that Duterte’s rants against Catholic bishops are not alleviating the peace problem, even before the bombing incident in Jolo, Sulu.

“Naririnig natin sa TV at sa radyo ang mismong Pangulo na nagsasabing saktan, nakawan, at patayin ang mga Obispo. Direkta ang mga atake ng Pangulo sa simbahang Katoliko. Mr. President, kasali ka sa problema,” she said.

According to her, considering that Duterte has publicly attacked the Catholic religion, this has possibly influenced the perpetrators to execute consecutive attacks in Jolo and Zamboanga.

“So, sinasabi ko na ngayon kay Presidente Duterte, may kagagawan ang pagsasalita mo ng mga atake sa mga Obispo at sa mga Katoliko, dito sa paggawa ng mga kabataang ito, or whoever did Jolo or Zamboanga mosque bombings,” she said.

This report made Locsin react negatively. And to show his support to President Duterte, he retweeted Samera’s Post.

Teddy Locsin Jr. said, “She doesn’t know what she is talking about.”

Gutoc responded that it was Locsin who allegedly “traded” his principles to support Duterte.

“It is you who do not know what you traded you principles for. If you think rape jokes and violence quips have nothing to do with peace, then I rest my case,” she said.

“And between you and me, sir—ikaw naka aircon at ako isang bakwit at naranasan ang epekto ng gyera sa pami-pamilya, I definitely know what I am talking about, sir,” she added.

Samira Gotuc-Tomawis is a senatorial aspirant under the opposition Liberal Party in the incoming 2019 elections. During the draft of the now-ratified Bangsamoro Organic Law, she supported Duterte as part of the Bangsamoro Transition Commision. But because of the president’s habit of making rape jokes and the implementation of the martial law in Mindanao, she has changed her mind.
