Detectives who have done investigations found that over 30 cases of child rape in the UK since 2015, based on the national newspaper, The Sunday Times.

To lure their underage victims, malefactors used dating apps like Tinder and Grindr.

Recently, a 13 year-old-boy from Yorkshire was apparently contacted by men using the dating apps he had signed up for, including Grindr and Badoo.

From using online dating services, there were already found sixty (60) further cases of child offenses that included sexual assault, kidnapping, and grooming as seen on the police documents by the paper following the Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

In another incident, an eight-year-old boy from Lincolnshire reported to the newspaper that a pedophile sent him a photo of a “sexual nature” and had “sexual conversation” with him, after being groomed on an unnamed dating up.

Grindr was already taking steps to remove underage users and, as the spokesperson told Pinknews, they were “saddened” about the Sunday Time’s investigation report.

“Grindr is committed to creating a safe and secure environment to help our community connect and thrive, and an account of sexual abuse or other illegal behavior is troubling to us as well, as it is a clear violation of our terms of service,” the spokesperson said.

This was to show that Grindr does not tolerate such illegal behavior as it also encourages users to report improper or illegal behavior.

“We encourage users to report improper or illegal behavior either within the app or directly via email to [email protected].”

They are also working on the update to improve their digital and human screening tools to prohibit underage users from signing up as much as possible.

“In addition, our team is constantly working to improve our digital and human screening tools to prevent and remove improper underage use of our app.”
